A 3 to a 6.5!

I have a lot of things in my head...

Waking up was the worst--finally managed to drag myself out of bed at 2:45pm. Was supposed to tutor the Wada kids at 3pm, so had to call to move it back to 3:30pm. Good thing they don't mind these things... Mom had gotten me a chicken fajita pita from Jack-in-the-Box, so I gobbled that up and took the coke with me on my drive to their house in Campbell. Woke up in steps until I was fully awake by the time I go there. This is probably the only time I'm gonna thank heavier traffic--gave me time and conditions I needed to wake up! I listened to my mix tape "Quintessential" pretty loud and it made me feel good :) I wish I had all those songs on a CD... I'm afraid of breaking that tape because I haven't made a backup copy and I don't know if I have all the songs on CDs or not.

As I pulled into a parking spot at the Wada’s, Soyoka and Yuki came out to greet me. They were riding their razor scooters—so cute! I parked the car in the shade and walked over to their house. Surprising, Yuki insisted that he get one full hour with me. Soyoka grumbled that she needed the whole two hours because she had a lot of homework. I am so happy that Yuki is so much more interested in his schoolwork now. I think he’s been getting better and better, so he feels like he understands so much more. That makes him excited to do more problems :) It’s so nice to see him happy when he can solve the problems. He even hung around during Soyoka’s tutoring time, a rarity. He’s usually out of there as soon as he’s done. Soyoka and I were going to work on her Silk Road project, but we found out that her Parachute project was due tomorrow, so we concentrated on that instead. I love how I can relearns so much just by helping with her subjects. Thanks to tutoring her, I have a better idea about Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Now I’m learning more about the Silk Road, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Uighurs, Bedouins, and Kazakhs. In the last couple of months, I got to learn more about Mesopotamia, Ur, India and Hinduism, and ancient Egypt.

Since we couldn’t work on her Silk Road project, this Friday afternoon I’m meeting her at Hoover Park, behind our house, to sit outside under a tree and lazily (?) work on it. That should be nice. Outdoors in nice weather :) Maybe I can have a bunny with me too? Right after I tutored, I drove straight over to the library to do some research. I think I got there a little before six o’clock, but when I noticed the time next it was almost closing time, nine o’clock. I found almost everything I was looking for, so I was fairly pleased. Brian checked out the books on his card for me (yeah, no overdue fines if turned in late).

At Long’s Drugs I picked up my two rolls of developed films. I got some pretty good pictures of Seri and some of pelicans flying overhead. Two pictures stand out in my mind. In one, I took a candid shot of Seri and she looks so pretty and her black hair and black shirt merge with the blackness of the room behind her. In the other photo, Seri’s sitting on a bench at the flower shop at Morro Bay. The bench has carved frogs on the ends and Seri and the frog have the same mischievous smile! Hard to believe I planned it that way and it came out so well. I also picked up some after Easter sale items (all items 75% off) and some other stuff as gifts for various people. Oh, and I finally got myself a Galileo thermometer because that was on sale too :) It’s so pretty. I did notice, however, that the temperature readings skip every four degrees instead of two.

When I came home it was already 10pm. Mom had just finished making dinner and I was pretty hungry. I sat down to eat when Aiko came downstairs in her running outfit. I asked whom she was running with. She told me she was going by herself. So, I said I’ll join her, but in my skates. I wrapped up my dinner and got my skates. We were out going around the neighborhood for 30min, then went to the park to stretch. It was funny to hear Aiko’s complaints as she ran and stretched. She really doesn’t like doing it. For me, it felt good to skate again. My leg didn’t hurt either (yeah!!). My toe did a little though because I had my toe ring on. That was too bad. Gotta take it off next time. I definitely need to clean my bearings too, especially the right skate’s. Whenever I try to do turns on only the right skate, it jams.

Overall, it was a good day :) Started out around a 3 and ended at a 6.6! :)
