Today’s main dream involved lots of water and another dream was set in a library/natural history museum. I’ll try to remember dream number one… The setting was in an area that seemed like a huge Home Depot type setting, but all outdoors. I guess the only part that was really like Home Depot was the fact that there were huge, huge shelving units. Everything else was natural. Plants grew all over the shelving units—trees, flowers, grass, epiphytes, moss, etc. There were several streams that ran throughout the area and the atmosphere was rather tranquil. In this dream, I was many characters. I was a pair of twins (both male), a young woman, a king, a queen, a villain, nature itself, all sorts of things. I think the thread that tied everything together was the existence of a magical set of eyeballs that allowed the person or thing that held it to slowly (took about 15 min) become invisible and stay that was as long the eyes were in possession.

How did the eyeballs come into existence? There was a greedy king who had a palace made of water. The palace was absolutely beautiful and people came to pay their respects and admire the place everyday. Stones were laid in a large circle to form the main moat of the palace; water cascaded down from the top of the palace into the moat (in steps like a wedding cake); and within the water walls, glimpses of palace rooms could be seen. It was said that a mystical beast made of water lived in the moat, who would rise up to stop any intruders to the palace and take the victim to the depth of the moat. No one had ever seen the bottom of the moat even though the water was crystal clear. The people also feared the king because he could be cruel. He had married his queen and then married his daughter when his queen died young. [I thought that was really strange.] With his magical powers he created a pair of eyeballs, which were sort of like jewels, which resided in his abdomen that allowed him to live invisible to the people of his kingdom. He created another pair for his first queen too. When she died, someone stole the eyeballs out of her body and used it for their own selfish purposes. The king was furious, but couldn’t find the thief because the thief remained invisible to him too. His daughter was born with a set of magical eyeballs herself [guess it was inheritable somehow] and lived her life wishing people could see her, so she could talk to them and be friends. She dare not leave the palace for fear of being captured and disemboweled for her set of eyeballs. In truth, the king wanted all of the eyeballs for himself, for he created them with the ability to have more magical power when more were held in the same place. His plan was to take his first queen’s eyeballs when she died and later his daughter’s too. The king’s greediness for power actually came from his deep insecurities about himself. The king also had a granddaughter who was born with one eyeball in her abdomen. She was sort of visible, shimmering-like. She was able to mingle with people, but was always on alert for people who might try to steal her eyeball. I was at times the king and the granddaughter.

To continue with the dream, I am in Japan as myself for some reason and that’s where this magical realm is in a mysterious sort of way. This is a small break in the dream sequence where I seem to be in a realm close to my waking reality. I chat online with Desmond as well as other people I don’t know in real life. I am under a constant deadline to achieve my “mission.” I need to board the plane leaving Hokkaido for the U.S. on a certain date. The flight is in the morning and I worry constantly that I’m not going to be able to wake up at that hour. I am staying in an apartment with my family and I have created quite a clutter with all the stuff I bought in Japan: robot model kits, anime DVDs, cool pens and pencils, and other neat gadgets and whatnot. I also worry about if I can pack up everything in time and into the luggage bags I have with me.

So, what is my mission? It’s to find the ultimate rabbit abode, of course! With my Mom, I walk around in a place that resembles the Las Vegas Convention Center and just as big or bigger. There are vendors from all over the world. I notice especially the ones form Jakarta, Thailand, Bangladesh, Burma, and other south Asian countries for no reason in particular. The search for the perfect rabbit home is frustrating. There are all sorts of things for smaller animals and larger ones but none for bunnies. Why? There, stores are all arranged among huge shelves. I walk and walk and walk. I contact people online. Time is running out. I’m getting desperate. I decide I’ll stay awake until the flight and search day and night. Where is the stupid thing?! I go up and down escalators and stairs; I walk what seem like miles down a dry desert-like path. Suddenly, there’s an outbreak of an unnamed disease. What the heck?! What’s going on? Now I need to find the antidote to the disease before I’m infected too. I find the antidote in the Jakarta booth. Still no bunny home :( At the last minute Mom comes to drag me onto the departing plane. We’re the last ones onboard, but somehow manage to get seats together on the upper floor of the plane. [Are we in first class or something?] I failed in the quest for the ultimate rabbit home :( I’m am so tired and dizzy, I faint on the plane.

I am walking amongst the huge nature/shelving when bits of plaster-like things start falling from higher shelf levels in one section. I wonder what’s going on. So do other bystanders. [I guess I’m back in the watery realm again.] Some shady looking characters gather around and I can hear them talk of the rebels from China trying to smuggle the invisible princess into this part of the world. Very curious talk. The king might be part of it too. At this point I am two people at once. The twins. Two rather buff, male twins (what the?!) [Must be the influence of the short Chippendale skit I saw at Kathy’s last night on a rerun of Saturday Night Live with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley.] “We” are faced with a dilemma. Do we stay to find out what will happen when the invisibles fall through the shelving? If yes, will we side with the shady characters and help capture the smugglers or help protect the innocent princess? [I am curious by nature, so even though I was two people, I managed to influence them into finding out what happens and deciding from there --lucid dreaming on my part.]

In a big crash, four very large thundering horses, just like the ones on the Budweiser commercials, fall through the upper level and try to gallop away. Oh, shit. What am I going to do now? The would-be thieves who want the princess’s eyeball chase after the four. One of them seems weaker than the rest. The dimensional travel has taken its toll. Why is the weaker one African-American? A black person from China? He even looks like one of those Buddhist deities. He collapses not too far away and surprisingly “we” are already at the scene. The others are busy chasing the other three riders. Before the man sighs his last breath he holds out two eyeballs to us. “The king’s,” he says. We take the eyeballs, one for each of us and find ourselves disappearing from our limbs inwards. When we step away from each other the effect lessens. The eyeballs must be in close proximity to each other to have their full effect.

Realizing we had quite a treasure in our hands, we stick as close together as possible and wait to be fully invisible. However, this isn’t going to be easy. The others have seen us and are headed our way. Oh, yeah, we’re on the run now! The adrenaline rush feels good. We climb trees, scramble over shelves, duck under vines, jump over boulders, and mostly tell ourselves not to panic. All the while we are trying to think of a way to find the other quickly disappearing horsemen and especially the princess. She might be able to tell us more about the magic of the eyeballs.

Here I am a little fuzzy on what happened next. Somehow, the twins end up with the princess and are able to help her out. I am no longer the twins when this happens. I switch over to the princess and find out I have to go to a stone arena and fight with some martial artist, who is going to pretend he’s my enemy but is actually an ally. [I, as the dreamer, am confused.] Whoa, flying martial art moves! This is cool. I didn’t know I could do that! By “fighting” with the man, both of us are able to get close to the palace without any suspicions of our true intentions---which [I find out as I dream along…]is to simply get back to the palace and be free of the eyeballs once and for all.

[To be continued… I’m experiencing nausea. I do not feel good.]
