It Was Written for You Today's Scripture For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. Romans 15:4 Today's Word When you read the Scriptures, do you take the encouragement that’s there to give you hope and strength for living? If you listen, you’ll hear David saying, “That giant you’re facing looks big, but our God is bigger. You can defeat it in the name of the Lord Almighty.” Gideon is saying, “You don’t feel qualified. You’re intimidated and hiding. I’ve been there. God says you have what it takes. You’re a mighty hero.” Joseph will tell you, “My brothers sold me into slavery. I was falsely imprisoned and suffered for thirteen years before I stepped into my destiny. God is working all things for your good. Trust Him when you don’t understand.” Lazarus will tell you, “I was dead and wrapped in grave clothes. Jesus can bring back to life a dead dream, a dead marriage, what looks dead in your health, your finances, your mind. A resurrection is coming.” Start listening to the heroes of faith. Get to know God as they did. They’ve walked where we’re walking, and they’re still teaching us. Draw out the encouragement, strength, and hope the Scriptures impart. Prayer For Today Father, thank You that You invited me into a relationship with You just as You did the heroes of faith. Thank You for the privilege of spending time with You and reading Your Word. Called by Name Today's Scripture “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1 Today's Word God calls us by name and tells us who we are. He called Gideon a mighty hero, David a giant killer, and Paul a chosen instrument. What does He call you? Do you know who you are. What could you become if you saw yourself the way God sees you? What dreams could you accomplish, what obstacles could you overcome, what influence could you have if you only knew who you are? Gideon didn’t feel like a mighty hero. Nothing about his circumstances looked like what God said. But God calls you what you are before you become it. Then it’s up to you. If you believe it, get it down in your spirit, it will become a reality. Gideon never dreamed that one day he would be in the Bible or that after thousands of years we’d be talking about him. You don’t know where God is taking you. You don’t know the doors He’s going to open, the giants you’re going to defeat, the influence you’re going to have. There’s an awesome future in front of you, but it’s dependent on how you see yourself Prayer For Today “Father, thank You that You have called me by name and I am Yours. It’s Only a Roar Today's Scripture “It is I who has drawn for all time the boundaries of the sea. The waves may crash and roar against the sand, but the waters do not cross the lines I have drawn.” Jeremiah 5:22 Today's Word Like the roar of waves crashing on the sand, you may have some negative thoughts roaring in your mind today, telling you, “You’ll never get well. You’ll never meet the right person. You’ll never be free of the addiction.” The Scripture says, “The enemy goes about as a roaring lion.” He loves to roar, to make loud threats and accusations, trying to get you to live in fear and worry, thinking that what you’re up against is too big, too strong. Don’t let the roar fool you. When God breathed life into you, like that sand, He put an eternal decree in you. He said when the enemy comes against you one way, He will defeat them and cause them to flee seven different ways. When the enemy roars at you, start roaring back. The Scripture says, “Give no place to the enemy.” Don’t let him fill your mind with thoughts of defeat, lack, and insecurity. Roar back. Declare favor, declare strength, declare health, declare victory. When you declare God’s promises, as the waves have to recede from the sand, so must the enemy. Prayer For Today Father, thank You that Your words give life to my faith, and I can use my words to withstand the storms and waves that pound against me. Thank You that there is nothing more powerful than Your Word in my heart. I will say what You say about me and what You promise in Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

“When Pressure Comes” Today's Scripture We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. Romans 5:3–4, NLT Today's Word The apostle Paul says that if you see pressure, difficulties, and setbacks the right way, if you stay full of joy and don’t get bitter, then that pressure is making you stronger. It’s doing something inside, getting you prepared for what God has in store. God knows how to put on just the right amount of pressure so we don’t get complacent, we don’t put our faith on autopilot, but we keep stretching and growing. Here’s the key: Pressure is going to produce either faith, hope, and endurance, or it’s going to produce discouragement, weakness, and “can’t do it.” The question is, What is the pressure producing in your life? Are you seeing it as negative, not fair, letting it defeat you? Have a new perspective. See it as healthy pressure. It’s there to help you grow, stay fresh, build your faith, and release your potential. Keep doing the right thing when it’s hard, being at peace in the pressure, staying calm in the conflict. That pressure is about to launch you into a new level of your destiny.
