  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

It’s not always the big moments that shape our walk with God.

More often, it’s the quiet consistency, showing up,
remaining faithful, and doing what is right, when no one is watching.

The Kingdom is not built on intensity, but on steady obedience over time.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little
can also be trusted with much…”
         (Luke 16:10)

    Stay steady. Stay faithful.
God is at work in the everyday.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | Lived, Not Planned

Sometimes the most meaningful Kingdom expressions aren’t planned, they’re lived.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being invited into a special space, a 60th birthday celebration for a colleague who quietly lives out his faith through service, prayer, and mission. No platform. No spotlight.

Just real life, real faith, and real impact.

It was a reminder that the Kingdom is not only what we say. It is how we live, how we serve, and how we honour others along the way. Grateful for moments like this.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

What we carry is not just a message.

    It is life.

The same life that raised Christ from the dead now works within those who believe.

Not always loudly. Not always visibly.
    But faithfully, day by day.

We don’t have to strive to make something happen.
We simply live from what we have already received.

“The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…”
    (Romans 8:11)

    Carry Him into the ordinary.
That is where life is revealed.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | Resurrection Hope

In a world marked by unrest, uncertainty, and shaking,
the resurrection of Jesus Christ remains the single greatest event in human history.

    Had Jesus only died,
He may have been remembered as a teacher,
    a moral voice,
    or a historical figure.
But He did not remain in the grave.

    He rose.

    And in rising,
    He defeated death,
    triumphed over darkness,
and gave humanity something this world can never manufacture

    Living hope.

The resurrection is not merely a past event to be remembered.
It is a present reality that still speaks into our troubled world today.

    Because He lives,
    hope still lives.
    Truth still stands.
And the future is still in His hands.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
             (1 Peter 1:3)

    In these uncertain times,
take hope in the risen Christ.
    Grace and peace,
    Jacob

We are not the ones in control of the harvest.

    God is.

    He prepares hearts,
    He opens doors,
He draws people at the right time.

Our role is not to force anything but to remain available and faithful.

“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest… to send out workers into his harvest field.”
        (Matthew 9:37–38)

    The work is His.
    The timing is His.
    The harvest is His.

We simply carry what He entrusts to us.

  • Kingdom Carriers | When God Opens the Door Through Others

At a recent men’s breakfast, Will and I sat at a table when a brother we didn’t know introduced himself and asked if he could join us. Not long after, the pastor also came and sat with us, and we shared a meaningful conversation together.

As the morning was coming to a close, I went to my car and brought back a few copies of Kingdom Carriers to share with some of the brothers I knew.

While we were talking, Chris asked if I had given the pastor a copy. I assumed he had already left, but Chris insisted he was still in his office and encouraged me to go with him.

A few moments later, I was able to place a copy of Kingdom Carriers directly into the pastor’s hands.

It was a quiet reminder that God often opens doors we were not even looking for, and sometimes He does it through the encouragement of others.

The Kingdom moves forward one faithful step at a time.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

God often prepares us quietly before He uses us openly.

    What feels unseen, ordinary,
or even inconvenient may be shaping us for something
    we have not yet recognised.

Not every preparation season feels significant, but heaven wastes nothing.

Stay faithful in the hidden places. God knows how to bring things together in due season.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand,
that He may lift you up in due season.”

  • Kingdom Carriers | When God Aligns the Way

Sometimes things come together in ways we didn’t plan.

Recently, a senior leader in our theatre space came looking for me at my desk. I was across at another site at the time, so she said she would come back later.

When I returned, my team mentioned she had been looking for me again. Not long after, I ran into her in the corridor. She asked if I would be at my desk for a while and said she would come by.

About half an hour later or so, she arrived and we began talking. She invited me to present to a clinical governance group in the coming weeks and sent through the details. I was initially hesitant, but she encouraged me, and I agreed.

During our conversation, she mentioned she hadn’t been able to attend the work fellowship recently due to a busy schedule. I shared that I had set aside some copies of Kingdom Carriers for her. She was delighted and gladly received them, not only for herself, but also to share within her church fellowship.

It was a quiet reminder that God brings people, timing, and direction together in ways we don’t always see at first.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

Sometimes the hardest place to obey God is in the very calling we have always known.

Like Jonah, we can hesitate, delay, or quietly move in another direction.

Yet God’s call does not disappear, He patiently brings us back to the moment where obedience becomes clear.

“The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.”
         (Jonah 3:1)

God is gracious in our hesitation, but faithful in His calling.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Recognising the Season

Sometimes God allows paths to cross simply to remind us of the season we are in.

During a conversation with one of the chaplaincy team at work, Epeli Taungapeau — a Methodist pastor — we had the opportunity to speak briefly about faith, ministry, and the times we are living in.

As we talked, he shared that his parents were missionaries. Our conversation stirred memories for him and served as a quiet reminder of the calling and heritage he had grown up around.

Moments like these remind us that God is constantly at work — reconnecting hearts, stirring old memories, and confirming His purposes in ways we may not expect.

Before parting, we exchanged our contact details, grateful for the encouragement and the reminder that the Body of Christ moves forward together.

The Kingdom advances not through one person alone, but through many faithful servants recognising the hour.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

    Some weeks feel full.
    Responsibilities pile up,
the pace quickens, and the day ends before we notice.

    Yet even in the busyness,
    God remains near.

The Kingdom is not carried only in the quiet moments,
it is carried through ordinary faithfulness in the middle of life’s demands.

“Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,
knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
     (1 Corinthians 15:58)

    Stay steady.
    Stay encouraged.

    God sees every faithful step.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Honouring Bold Faith

Sometimes the Kingdom moves through simple moments of courage.

One evening after work, I stopped at Sylvia Park Shopping Mall to grab a quick meal. As I sat in the food court, a young couple walked past me to order their food. What caught my attention was the message on the back of the young man’s T-shirt in bold letters:

    “Jesus Saves.”

I was immediately struck by his boldness. When he later sat down at the table next to me, I noticed the front of his shirt read, “It’s All About God.”

After finishing my meal, I walked over and simply said how much I appreciated his courage to wear such a message so openly. They both responded humbly and thanked me.

As I walked back to my car, I felt prompted to honour that boldness. I took a few copies of Kingdom Carriers, along with Hope Rising and Your Moment to Lead, and returned to where they were sitting.

I apologised for interrupting them again and said I had a small gift for them. When I handed over the books, the young man looked at them and said, “Wow… wow… wow.”

It was a simple moment, but it reminded me how the Kingdom often moves through everyday encounters — when faith is lived openly and courage inspires courage.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

Not every encounter in life is accidental.

Sometimes God quietly arranges paths to cross,
    moments to pause,
    and conversations to begin.

What appears ordinary on the surface
may already be part of His design.

Our role is not to force the moment —
but to remain attentive when it comes.

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.”
    Psalm 37:23

    Walk attentively.
    Love freely.
    Trust His leading.

  • Kingdom Carriers | A Timely Encounter

Sometimes God arranges moments we could never plan.

On a recent day trip outside the city, I stopped along the coastline to enjoy the view. As I walked, I met a couple and began a simple conversation. It quickly became clear that they were believers, also in a season of waiting on the Lord for direction.

We spoke briefly about faith and life. I didn’t mention anything about books or ministry. We eventually said goodbye and went our separate ways.

A little later, I noticed them again sitting nearby, still taking in the scenery. I felt a quiet prompting to return to my car and gather a few copies of Kingdom Carriers, along with Hope Rising and Your Moment to Lead.

I walked back to them and simply said I had a gift for you'll. I shared briefly about the season God has been leading me through and offered the books as an encouragement.

They received them with genuine gratitude. The moment felt timely — as though God had arranged the meeting long before any of us arrived there.

Sometimes the Kingdom moves through conversations we never expect, in places we never planned to minister.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

After we step out in obedience,
there is often a quiet space where we wonder what God will do next.

But the outcome was never ours to carry.

    Our part is faithfulness.
    His part is fruit.

Peace comes when we release the results back into His hands.

    “I planted, Apollos watered,
    but God gave the increase.”
    — 1 Corinthians 3:6

    Stay faithful.
    Stay surrendered.
    Stay at rest.

Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection After we step out in obedience, there is often a quiet space where we wonder what God will do next. But the outcome was never ours to carry. Our part is faithfulness. His part is fruit. Peace comes when we release the results back into His hands. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” — 1 Corinthians 3:6 Stay faithful. • For several months, a senior O & B surgeon would occasionally try to engage me in conversation.

He had heard about the workplace fellowship through Kayla, who rosters the doctors and attends the fellowship herself. Each time we crossed paths, he would say, “I heard you wrote a book.”

I would smile and gently move on. I’ve never been one to lead with that.

One afternoon, I stepped out of my office and found him just outside, speaking with a radiologist. He greeted me again and, after that conversation ended, returned to the same question, asking about the books.

This time, I felt at peace to respond.

I invited him in and took a few copies from my bag — Kingdom Carriers, Hope Rising, and Preparing for Your Moment to Lead. As he looked through them, he was particularly drawn to Kingdom Carriers. He spoke about his love for the message of the Kingdom, and we briefly discussed the season that led to the writing of the booklet.

There was no pressure. No persuasion. Just openness.

When I ran into him again last week, he shared that he had read Kingdom Carriers and found it powerful. He said the books came in handy at the right time.

Sometimes the Spirit prepares a conversation long before we recognize the moment has arrived.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

    Grace and peace,
    Jacob

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

God often prepares hearts long before we recognize the moment.

What feels like an ordinary conversation,
    a passing question,
or a quiet stirring within us
may already be part of His unfolding plan.

We don’t always see what He is doing beneath the surface
    but He does.

    Stay attentive.
    Stay available.
    Stay willing.

“For it is God who works in you,
both to will and to act according to His good purpose.”
    — Philippians 2:13

  • Kingdom Carriers | When Seed Bears Fruit.

Some Kingdom moments don’t begin with an encounter, they begin with relationship.

Recently, friends I hadn’t seen in a while called to see if I was available to catch up for dinner. We spent time sharing about life and talking honestly about an important decision they were considering.

I shared some insights and biblical counsel, and we reflected together. Later, they expressed how helpful and clarifying the conversation had been.

As I was leaving, I felt prompted to leave five copies of Kingdom Carriers with them, not as a gesture of promotion, but simply as a continuation of what God had already been doing in their lives.

    The Kingdom grows quietly,through trust,
    through wisdom shared,
through seeds planted long before fruit appears.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

Sometimes God doesn’t reveal the full picture in the moment. He simply invites us to take the next step.

What feels small or uncertain to us may be the very thing He is unfolding into something greater.

Obedience isn’t measured by outcomes, it’s measured by willingness.

    So keep your heart soft,
your spirit attentive, and your yes ready.
“The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord.”
     (Psalm 37:23)

  • Kingdom Carriers | An Unfolding Obedience

I went to Howick Village one afternoon simply to get a coffee.

On my way back to the car, I noticed a small bookshop called "Poppies", and stepped inside out of my love for books. As I browsed, a young staff member asked if she could help. Almost casually, I asked how someone might get their books onto shelves like these.

She said she couldn’t help with that, but offered a contact number. I let it go and kept browsing.

As I was leaving, she asked what kind of books I write. I briefly shared about Your Moment to Lead, Hope Rising, and my latest booklet, Kingdom Carriers. We chatted for a moment, and I left.

Walking back to my car, I felt a gentle nudge to give her a copy of Your Moment to Lead. I hesitated, I never want anyone to feel obligated, but the thought kept returning. When I checked my car, I had no copies left.

    So I went home.

As I was collecting books from my garage, I saw my neighbour Logan and his wife unpacking groceries. I greeted them and felt prompted to give Logan a copy of Kingdom Carriers. I briefly shared the season God has been leading me through and how we’ve been living our faith out quietly at work. He received it warmly.

Then I drove back to Howick.
I returned to Poppies with three books — Your Moment to Lead, Hope Rising, and Kingdom Carriers. The young woman was vacuuming near the entrance. I apologized for interrupting, handed her the books, and simply said they were a gift.

She received them gratefully. I left.

No spotlight. No pressure. No agenda — just a series of small “yeses” and trust that God would do His work.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

    Grace and peace,
    Jacob

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

Jesus said the fields are already ready for harvest.
Which means the work God often does first is not around us, but within us.

    Before the moment comes,
    He shapes our attention.
    Before the conversation,
    He prepares our hearts.

Awareness is often the preparation, we don’t realise we’re receiving.

  • Kingdom Carriers | A Kingdom Seed Returned

Some Kingdom seeds take years to come full circle.
Many years ago, while I was based at Auckland City Hospital, I had the privilege of praying regularly with a colleague and dear friend, Dr Kai. During that same season, when I was pastoring in South Africa, he sowed generously into a church building project — quietly, faithfully, and without expectation. He also supported the work by purchasing copies of Hope Rising.

Last year, as Kingdom Carriers was released, I felt led to sow back into his life. I sent a box of copies to him through internal delivery — not as a reminder, not as a request, and not with any expectation attached — simply as an act of gratitude and obedience.

The Kingdom does not operate on transactions.
It moves through honor, generosity, and faithfulness across seasons.

Sometimes obedience looks like returning a seed —
trusting God with the outcome and keeping the heart clean.

All glory and honour belong to Him.

  • Kingdom Carriers | Mid-Week Reflection

Sometimes the greatest work God does is not through what we say or share, but through what He forms in us along the way.

When our hearts remain surrendered, our motives stay pure, and our obedience stays quiet,
God is free to move without obstruction.

    Keep your eyes on Him.
    Keep your heart yielded.
Let everything point back to His glory.

    Grace and peace,

  • Kingdom Carriers | A God-Moment

On my drive home from work, traffic was unusually heavy.
I followed the GPS for a quicker route, nothing spiritual, just practical.

Along the way, I noticed Christian Book Supplies.
I almost drove past, assuming they’d be closed with it being close to 5pm.
But something made me turn in.

I arrived just after 4:45pm — perfect timing.

I stepped inside and asked for the store manager, only to learn he was overseas. I shared that he had previously taken copies of Hope Rising and Your Moment to Lead. I then mentioned I had a new booklet out — Kingdom Carriers — and briefly shared the season God has been leading me through.

Simply in obedience, I asked if it would be okay to leave 10 copies with them.

Her response was immediate and warm — “Absolutely, we’d love that.”
I went back to my car, returned with the books, and handed them over.
Her face lit up. She was genuinely pleased and said she would make sure the manager received them when he returned.

What began as a traffic detour became a Kingdom delivery.

God is deeply involved in the details, and when we say yes in small moments, He extends the reach far beyond what we planned.

    Grace and peace,
    Jacob
