Twenty-seven Katy ISD seniors have earned prestigious college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships, placing them among the nation’s most academically accomplished students and further reinforcing the District’s reputation for academic excellence.
A perfectly timed fastball by Katy High School freshman pitcher Haley Schmitt and a quick throw from catcher Maddie Smith to first base picked off the runner to seal the deal. A sea of red erupted in the stands at McCombs Field in Austin as Tiger fans cheered the newly crowned UIL 6A Division II Softball Champions. The team stormed the pitching circle to celebrate as the 7-2 victory over Forney capped off a dominating 39-5 season.
Katy ISD is helping students stay energized and ready for summer activities through its Summer Food Service Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch meals to children 18 years old and younger, regardless of enrollment status. Children must be present to obtain a free meal and are not required to show identification or be Katy ISD students. Parents are welcome to purchase a meal to enjoy with their children.
From mastering wildlife conservation concepts in East Texas forests to setting records at Texas A&M University, Katy High School FFA students dominated performances at two premier Texas agricultural competitions, netting state championships and a berth at the national title.
From concert halls and theater stages to art studios and dance studios, 272 Katy ISD seniors are taking their talents to the collegiate level after being recognized during the District’s annual fine arts signing celebrations.
Representing the exceptional Class of 2026, Katy ISD proudly recognizes this year’s valedictorians and salutatorians, students who have excelled academically while distinguishing themselves among the nation’s top young scholars.
