Twenty-seven Katy ISD seniors have earned prestigious college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships, placing them among the nation’s most academically accomplished students and further reinforcing the District’s reputation for academic excellence.
Katy ISD has named two accomplished campus leaders to serve as principals of Campbell Elementary and Rhoads Elementary. Kristin LaFollett will lead Campbell Elementary, while Elizabeth Paz will serve as principal of Rhoads Elementary, each bringing extensive experience and a passion for supporting students, staff and families.
A perfectly timed fastball by Katy High School freshman pitcher Haley Schmitt and a quick throw from catcher Maddie Smith to first base picked off the runner to seal the deal. A sea of red erupted in the stands at McCombs Field in Austin as Tiger fans cheered the newly crowned UIL 6A Division II Softball Champions. The team stormed the pitching circle to celebrate as the 7-2 victory over Forney capped off a dominating 39-5 season.
Katy ISD students took on the world’s best young innovators at the 2026 Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri, earning four Top 10 international finishes while showcasing elite creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills on the global stage.
Katy ISD is helping students stay energized and ready for summer activities through its Summer Food Service Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch meals to children 18 years old and younger, regardless of enrollment status. Children must be present to obtain a free meal and are not required to show identification or be Katy ISD students. Parents are welcome to purchase a meal to enjoy with their children.
Carolyn Liu’s ambitions are extraordinary. She aims to lead groundbreaking neuroscience research at a premier university, while being one of the top professional golfers in the nation. To people on the outside looking in, it might seem outlandish, but the groundwork has already been laid for Jordan High School’s phenom to shatter expectations as a true dual threat.
