Another BUGS! concert?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I learned that another concert is in the works for spring that will feature my 2007 book, bugs, poems about creeping things, hilariously illustrated by ROB SHEPPERSON and published by Boyds Mills Press.

It’s too early to talk about details but naturally I’m delighted. Twice before, bugs has stared in BUGSS! concerts, both times with the Dayton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in Ohio under the direction of PATRICK REYOLDS. During the course of those concerts, pictures and drawings from bugs were projected from a gigantic screen across the wall behind the orchestra and occasionally the music would stop while a student musician read a poem.

I was invited to join the fun in 2022 by recording a few poems, leaving space where needed for a student to read the other parts with me. You can see me, hovering above the orchestra, although the quality of the shot makes it more appropriate for Halloween.

This new concert is months away and final plans are not in place yet. But I’m already looking forward to another opportunity to match poems with music. Byron Biggers Band gives occasional performances playing and singing my poems but not on a stage like this.
