Eric Ode is on Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

With pleasure I bring you the link to ERIC ODE’S second column on Poetry from Daily Life. https://www.news-leader.com/story/entertainment/2025/07/06/poetry-from-daily-life-let-your-guard-down-carry-notebook/84450908007/ Eric, with his delightful sense of humor, claims to have once been a street busker (performer) in Belfast (“for about seven minutes”). Another Ode claim is that he lives a life full of commas. Want to know more? Read his column today and listen to his first column, recorded for Poetry from Daily Life Free Video Library, at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbnp3xjHQuA&t=63s

I’ve performed with Eric. He’s a good guy and multi-talented. I know you’re going to enjoy him and hope you will take a few minutes to share his latest bit of wit and wisdom far and wide. This is the 89th column in the Poetry from Daily Life series. Followers of the feature appreciate the enormous range of knowledge, experience, talent, and insights we’ve discovered here. I remain grateful to all. Thank you, Eric.

Eric Ode coming back to Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

I’m glad to tell you that ERIC ODE is returning this weekend to Poetry from Daily Life. Eric is such a multi-talented guy. He’s an author, poet, songwriter, educator, and jazz piano player. His poems have appeared in dozens of anthologies and on a Grammy award-winning album. His first appearance was on February 4, 2024 when he wrote the 15th column in the series. Now he’s back with our 89th column. I’m grateful to Eric.

If you want to do some homework on Eric before his new piece appears tomorrow (Saturday) in Springfield News-Leader, here’s a link to him reading his 2024 column on Poetry from Daily Life Free Video Library. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbnp3xjHQuA&t=12s On Sunday when the new column comes out in the News-Leader e-edition, I’ll post that link too.

The link to Eric Ode’s column

Hi everyone,

As promised, here is the link to ERIC ODE’S feature in today’s e-edition of Poetry from Daily Life. https://www.news-leader.com/story/entertainment/2024/02/04/poetry-from-daily-life-eric-ode-its-ok-if-you-dont-know-where-youre-going/72429948007/

Please go have a look. It’s an entertaining and informative approach to our general subject and I’m grateful to Eric for joining the growing number of contributors.

And this is the spot where I remind everyone who thinks this column is worthwhile to help me find more ways to share it. We didn’t add any more papers this last week although we are waiting for a couple to respond. As each week passes, we add new and fresh takes on poetry from poets and poetry users across the country. Taken as a whole, this column is becoming an historical document that will have value now and into the future.

Eric Ode coming to Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

This weekend it’s my pleasure to welcome ERIC ODE to Poetry from Daily Life. Eric is a children’s author, poet, award-winning songwriter, and educator who lives with his lovely wife and his lazy cat in the little maritime community of Port Townsend, Washington. His poems have appeared in dozens of anthologies and on a Grammy nominated and a Grammy award-winning album. When I asked Eric for a unique fact about himself, he confided that he was once a street busker (performer) in Belfast (“for about seven minutes.”)

If you haven’t met this talented poet, you’re in for a treat. In the Springfield area, you’ll find him in tomorrow’s edition of News-Leader. On Sunday, the column will also appear in the N-L e-edition and I’ll post a link to it so everyone everywhere can read it. Thank you, Eric. Welcome to Poetry from Daily Life!
