Speaker Johnson Passes Fewest Bills in 70 Years but will hold a Trump Impeachment Vote

How is it that the GOP can’t seem to pass anything of Trump’s interest but somehow this nitwit can force a House Bill? What’s in the water in Michigan? Put this down as dumb but let’s us know what awaits Trump should the GOP lose the House and Senate.  How’s this statistic:

GOP Controlled House and Senate Sent Fewer Bills to GOP President Than Any Congress in 70 Years.

At the least he will force the Dems to show their hand for the 2026 election by requiring a procedural vote to scuttle the bill which has put the Dems in a tizzy over his action.

From Fox News:

A lone House Democrat is moving to force a chamber-wide vote on his impeachment resolution against President Donald Trump.

Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., introduced his impeachment resolution as privileged on Tuesday afternoon, meaning leaders have two days of the House in session to take up the legislation.

House GOP leaders could move to table the motion, a procedural vote aimed to scuttle a piece of legislation without having lawmakers vote on the legislation itself.

Democrats have struggled to unite behind a potent message since the 2024 election, and such a vote could be politically perilous for their most vulnerable members as they work to win back the House majority in 2026.

No Republicans are likely to support impeaching Trump, however, meaning Thanedar’s measure will likely fail.

“Donald Trump has unlawfully conducted himself, bringing shame to the presidency and the people of the United States,” Thanedar said when deeming his resolution privileged.

The India-born Michigan Democrat first introduced seven articles of impeachment against Trump in late April.

They include charges of obstruction of justice, tyranny, bribery and corruption, and abuse of trade powers, among others.

Gateway Pundit:

Americans overwhelmingly voted for President Donald Trump and his agenda.

Unfortunately, this means nothing to the US GOP-controlled House and US GOP-controlled Senate.

According to Amuse and Leading Report on X the current GOP-controlled Congress sent fewer bills to President Trump to sign into law than any Congress in 70 years!

According to Punchbowl News, Trump has actually signed fewer bills into law at this point than any new president for seven decades.

At the same time President Trump has signed 124 executive orders.

So Johnson can’t figure out a way around this?

Trump has Johnson Remove Turner as House Intel Committee Chair – Deep State Rumbles

Trump sets lose his first arrow from his quiver and demanded the removal of Mike Turner as Chair of the House Intelligence Committee. The first salvo in ridding us of the deep state. Steve Bannon has been warning about him for years.

It is fair to say, this is long overdue. One of McCarthy’s pieces of work from way back who set him up in this position. Steve Bannon fills us in.

Politico reported

“Speaker Mike Johnson has removed Mike Turner as chair House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, three people familiar with the decision tell POLITICO. Turner has been an outspoken advocate for Ukraine funding and other hawkish national security stances.”

And much much more as you will learn.

Things have not been good and flared last year when Turner pushed for Ukraine funding. He claimed a Russia Russia Russia threat hoax in order to push for funding, but it goes much worse and deeper… one could say all the way to China.

According to a leak to CNN, the threat was supposedly “related to Russia.”

“Multiple sources familiar with the intelligence characterized it as “very sensitive,” CNN reported last year

Let’s let Steve Bannon tell the story. Now all of a sudden Schiff is appointed to the 2025 Intel Committee. Deep Deep State.

Senator Mike Lee Exposes Schumer, McConnell, Johnson, and Jeffries Secretly Spending 85 Days Crafting the 1,547 Abomination

Troubled waters for the GOP ahead with the attempted sell out by Johnson in trying to dump 1500 pages of pork on the House. Speaker Johnson, all cozy with Trump these past weeks. He spent time with Trump at Mar a Lago, the Army Navy game etc. and didn’t say a word about the 1,547 page abomination that he’s been working on for weeks.

Mike Lee:
Schumer, McDonald, Johnson, Jeffrey—the firm. They did this. Okay, McDonald and Schumer cooked this up for the last 85 days in secret, dropped it on everybody Wednesday, and this is where we are.

There is a word for that.

Gateway Pundit:

In a fiery appearance on Jesse Watters’ Primetime, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) pulled back the curtain on what he calls a “historic betrayal of the American people.”

Lee accused Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) of secretly negotiating a bloated $1.7 trillion spending bill behind closed doors for nearly three months.

Lee revealed that the controversial legislation had been in the works for 85 days without the public’s knowledge, an act he characterized as an affront to transparency and accountability.

Senator Lee predicted dire consequences for those involved, specifically targeting Speaker Mike Johnson’s hold on power.

Too many have too much at stake.

Need more proof of his sell out? A portion of a post of Bunk back in April, 2024.

Paul Ryan Praises Speaker Johnson for Allowing Democrats to Seize House

Paul Ryan, a member of the Fox Corporation Board of Directors, praised House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) for permitting Democrats to seize control of the House last week.

Democrats steamrolled Johnson by successfully pushing Biden administration’s agenda through the House. Johnson gave Biden “pretty much everything” Biden asked for “without having to concede much in return,” Punchbowl reported.

Johnson “found his footing, and his voice. … [H]e did it as a statesman, risking his own personal political fortune for the greater good that he believes in,” Ryan told Axios Tuesday.

The former House Speaker’s opinion appears to represent the mainstream establishment opinion of Johnson’s historic maneuver, but it does not represent many conservatives.

“A party unable to bring its agenda to the floor for a vote is no longer a functional majority,” Brendan Buck, a top staffer to Ryan, recently wrote in a New York Times op-ed.

Ryan’s comment comes as he holds significant influence within the Fox Corporation Board of Directors. Ryan, a board member since March 2019, serves as the chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee at the Fox Corporation.

Keep an eye out over in the Senate. McConnell is not done yet nor is he going quietly in that dark night. Nothing will move in the Senate without his support.

McConnell Takes Control of Two Most Powerful Committees as he Steps Down as Leader

Thune AKA Paul Ryan 2.0. Trading one master for another. While we celebrated the GOP taking control of the Senate this past election, one has to wonder how far did we come in ridding ourselves of the worst elements that stymied Trump his last go around. It turns out that the old fool McConnell has cut himself a sweet deal in keeping his cold almost dead hands on control of the Senate.

While he may have turned leadership over the Senator Thune, McConnell instead will be in control of the two most powerful committees in the Senate. Maine’s Senator Collins will be right there along side of him taking control of the full Appropriations Committee, another one who with her side kick Murkosksi from Alaska, are thorns in the GOP side

Maine Sen. Susan Collins currently holds the top Republican slot on the Defense Subcommittee, which drafts the Pentagon’s annual spending bill, worth $825 billion.

Collins is expected to become chairwoman of the full Appropriations Committee next year and McConnell said in the statement he looks forward to working with her “to accomplish our shared goal.”

It wasn’t immediately clear Thursday if Collins would become chairwoman of one of the Appropriations Committee’s other 11 subcommittees.

McConnell will also take over the Senate Rules Committee, one of the oldest panels in the chamber that holds a broad jurisdiction.

Speaker Johnson’s 1547 Page C.R. – Rather a Massive Omnibus Spending and Regulatory Bill

Speaker Johnson is pulling the same stunt, almost to the same day last year that he is doing today. The only thing different this time is X is a player with Musk amd Vivek making noises and Trump in the wings. Yet it is the same Johnson that has sold us down the tubes time and again. Enlisting Democrat support to get the Democrat agenda across the line.

Anyone who has been around Bunkerville knows I am not a fan of House Speaker Johnson.

Indeed a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Worse, under the banner of his self-righteous  piety.

statement from President Donald J. Trump and Vice President-Elect JD Vance:

The most foolish and inept thing ever done by Congressional Republicans was allowing our country to hit the debt ceiling in 2025. It was a mistake and is now something that must be addressed.

Meanwhile, Congress is considering a spending bill that would give sweetheart provisions for government censors and for Liz Cheney. The bill would make it easier to hide the records of the corrupt January 6 committee—which accomplished nothing for the American people and hid security failures that happened that day. This bill would also give Congress a pay increase while many Americans are struggling this Christmas.

Increasing the debt ceiling is not great but we’d rather do it on Biden’s watch. If Democrats won’t cooperate on the debt ceiling now, what makes anyone think they would do it in June during our administration? Let’s have this debate now. And we should pass a streamlined spending bill that doesn’t give Chuck Schumer and the Democrats everything they want.

Republicans want to support our farmers, pay for disaster relief, and set our country up for success in 2025. The only way to do that is with a temporary funding bill WITHOUT DEMOCRAT GIVEAWAYS combined with an increase in the debt ceiling. Anything else is a betrayal of our country.

Republicans must GET SMART and TOUGH. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government unless we give them everything they want, then CALL THEIR BLUFF. It is Schumer and Biden who are holding up aid to our farmers and disaster relief.

THIS CHAOS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IF WE HAD A REAL PRESIDENT. WE WILL IN 32 DAYS! (SOURCE)

Speaker Johnson – Was The Promised ‘Army of Jesus’ the Tipping Point For his Ukraine Support?

Apparently Mike Johnson’s voice inside his head from where ever, did not speak to taking care of us and our border. Instead, it told him that one of the most corrupt countries in the world found more favor. That all of what he had pledged to his colleagues and to us could be cast aside. So here goes the tale:

“An army of Jesus”: Inside Mike Johnson’s come-to-Jesus moment ahead of Ukraine reversal so reads the headline. (Salon)

In the hours before Speaker Mike Johnson said he was willing to lose his speakership to help Ukraine, he met with the evangelical leader of Ukraine’s National Prayer Breakfast, who says he told Johnson they could create “an army of Jesus.”

It was Pavlo Unguryan’s third reported meeting with Johnson this year. As one Christian Republican insider asserted after Saturday’s House approval of $61 billion for Ukraine aid, evangelical messaging “definitely tipped” Johnson and House Republicans.

….the religious and intel motivations complement each other. National-security warnings that Ukraine will fall without U.S. aid would take on heightened urgency if Johnson started to see Ukraine as an evangelical redoubt and potential wellspring of missionary action in a godless Europe.

…..

Right-wing religious conservative Marc Thiessen on Friday asserted that Wednesday’s meeting didn’t change Johnson’s mind, he was always going to push Ukraine aid through. But, reportedly, Johnson was still praying about what to do on Tuesday. So what happened?

CBN spoke to Unguryan about his Wednesday meeting with Johnson.

“To be honest, brother Speaker Mike Johnson is a great leader. He has a great heart,” said Pavlo Unguryan, a former member of parliament and a Ukrainian Christian who met with Johnson at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday.

He told CBN News he saw Speaker Johnson as far more than a political leader. He viewed him as “a brother in Christ.”

When the two met, Unguryan framed Ukraine’s war with Russia as a spiritual battle between good and evil.

“For us, it’s a call to action to unite together—to unite together an army of Jesus,” he explained.

This time, Unguryan had brought along evangelical Baptist Serhii Haidarzhy, whose wife Anna (a pastor’s daughter) and four-month-old son Tymofii were killed by a Russian drone strike last month.

But Johnson’s religious fervor is only getting started we shall  soon see. His wrath is about to descend.

Johnson wasn’t elected to be an evangelist. He was elected to carry out the wishes of his party. In this case, securing the border was paramount. He confirmed this time and again that he understood this.

His arrival to the public scene right after elected as speaker, in an evangelistic tone with arms raised, proclaimed that his wife had been on her knees for weeks and now she could rise.

I have seen this before. A Christian who sooner or later will believe that his decisions sooner or later will be coming straight from the almighty. All of them.

The attention is exhilarating. He is now proclaimed hero of the Uniparty. And he is just getting started. Johnson’s wrath descends. His long finger points and goes after Matt Gaetz. Johnson supports GOP Rep Roy Gonzales. Gonzales has no time for Gaetz.

Johnson makes  a needless entrance into a primary food fight. Needless? Or is he revealing his feelings about the Conservatives and MAGA in particular.

Enter Matt Gaetz. Chip Roy sits on the Rules committee where the pious Johnson double crossed Roy and the some other GOP members and joined with the Dems to push forward the bill through with an arcane method. The first time ever in the history of congress. See earlier post:

Speaker Johnson Surrenders Control of House to Dems – Foreign Aid Moves Forward

The headline reads:

Mike Johnson Steps Smack Into a Major House Intra-GOP Food fight

Republicans are fighting after one representative called some of his colleagues “scumbags.”

Another conservative appeared to be sour on House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday amid what has turned out to be a major party upheaval.

Texas Representative Chip Roy said he is “beside himself” after witnessing Johnson help out another Republican colleague, Tony Gonzales, who has openly berated some caucus members as “scumbags.”

“I’m being attacked. Conservatives are being attacked,” Roy told KTSA News. “I cannot tolerate what’s happening to the people that I think are fighting for this country… the primary season matters.”

Roy’s comments come amid a growing push from members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus to penalize Gonzales after he went scorched earth on the party’s moral standards over the weekend. More caucus members have endorsed Gonzales’s primary opponent, a far-right social media influencer. (This take according to The New Republic)

Video from the Huff Post:

“Bob Good endorsed my opponent, a known neo-Nazi,” Rep. Gonzales said. “These people used to walk around with white hoods at night, now they’re walking around with white hoods in the daytime.”

The opponent Gonzales is referring to is his far-right primary opponent Brandon Herrera, who describes himself as a “YouTuber, Second Amendment Absolutist” and VERY Politically Incorrect.”

In a stunning interview Sunday morning on CNN, Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican congressman from Texas, accused fellow Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of having sex with underaged girls.

“It’s my absolute honor to be in Congress, but I serve with some real scumbags,” he said. “Look, Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties.”

GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales said ‘Matt Gaetz, he paid minors to have sex with him at drug parties.’
The Justice Department ended up declining to bring charges against Gaetz due to credibility issues with witnesses.
In the video, Gonzales didn’t stop at Gaetz, calling out colleague and chair of the Freedom Caucus, Rep. Bob Good, a Republican congressman in Virginia.

The Double Cross: Late Thursday night, just before midnight, for the first time in recorded history — since the House began keeping records — the House Rules Committee relied on minority party votes to overcome objections from the majority and advance a rule bill to the House floor. Essentially merging four bills into one.

“The four bills that we’ve heard testimony on today will be transmitted to the senate as an amendment to the underlying bill,” Burgess said, acknowledging the underlying bill itself was an unrelated “veterans bill.” UPDATE: Bills will be voted on individually but will be joined together in the final version.

The committee voted nine to three, with all four Democrats on the committee voting with five Republicans to move a rule to the House floor, which, if passed with Democrat support as expected, would allow votes on Johnson’s foreign aid package, including a bill that includes tens of billions to fund Ukraine.

Conservative Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Thomas Massie (R-KY), and Ralph Norman (R-SC) voted no.

Liar Liar pants on fire…

So how did this happen?

For example, after questioning from Massie, Chairman Michael Burgess (R-TX) acknowledged the rule contains language that merges the four bills together, sending the different components together as one package to the Senate as part of Johnson’s complicated scheme to exploit the urgency to pass aid to Israel to ensure Ukraine funding can pass Congress.

Update IV:

JUST IN: Senate Advances $95B Foreign Aid Bill for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, and Taiwan, Omitting Border Security Provisions — Here are the 17 GOP Senators Who Voted with Democrats

In a 67-32 cloture vote, the Senate crossed party lines, with several RINO senators joining Democrats to move the foreign aid bill forward. The bill is still in play. This is not a stand alone bill. Amendments will be forthcoming.

UPDATE III  Schumer is back at it… exactly as planned. VOTING NOW ON SUPPLEMENTAL FOR ISRAEL UKRAINE AND TAWAIN. The trap is set. Schumer lost. He could only get to 58 BUT the bill is still in play. Last I heard they were working on amendments to the bill including the border in order to bring the whole bill forward and get to 60.

Update II.  Procedural vote defeated. I am surprised Schumer brought it forward.

UPDATE: Procedural vote this afternoon. Schumer forges ahead.

Washington —

Although Senate Republicans appeared resigned to oppose the procedural vote to open debate, with the conference in large part either opposing the border deal released on Sunday or seeking more time to review it, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer planned to forge ahead with the vote on Wednesday.

“For the security of America at the border, for the security of Ukraine and Israel, we’re going to keep at it,” Schumer told reporters on Tuesday. “We will move further forward. Stay tuned.”

Indeed, Schumer appears to have a backup plan — to put the other elements of the supplemental funding package up for a procedural vote should the broader package that includes the border security agreement fail, according to a Democratic aide. Outside of the border elements, the national security supplemental includes military aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, along with humanitarian assistance for Palestinians in Gaza. (Source)

Back to the story

It never was about aid to Israel. Not about Aid to Ukraine.

A package aimed at giving $17.6 billion to Israel failed to pass the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

It had been facing a veto threat from the White House, which is pushing for Congress to consider Israel aid as part of a larger $118 billion supplemental security package, along with pushback from GOP hard-liners who wanted the price tag offset by spending cuts elsewhere.

Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., unveiled the legislation over the weekend while blasting the Senate and White House for excluding the House from talks over a supplemental security funding and border policy bill.

….It ultimately failed to reach enough support, despite 250 lawmakers voting for it and 180 against. Forty-six Democrats voted in favor of the bill while 166 voted against. On the Republican side, 14 lawmakers voted down the Israel aid and 204 voted for it.

… (Aid to Israel)

“After nearly four months of waiting for the Senate to act, House Republicans, working in good faith, placed a clean, standalone bill on the floor — a major concession we were willing to make given the gravity of the situation to address Democrats’ stated concerns with the prior aid package,” the speaker said.

“Democrats have been unable to present any substantive policy objection in the current legislation. It is clear they are now committed to using Israel aid as leverage to force through other priorities that do not enjoy nearly the same degree of consensus. Leveraging Israel aid as it fights for survival is wrong. The White House and congressional Democrats should be ashamed.”

Here are Bunks thoughts. I am no expert on procedures but from what I gathered from Fox’s Maria Bartiromo and her concerns to Speaker Johnson. She referenced a story in Axios.

So the deal? Watch now for a resurrection. Amendments to the bill. Take up the “supplemental” Israel Ukraine portion of the bill. Once done and voted upon, no longer the 60 votes are needed, it moves to the House for “compromise”  where we have already seen how dicey that can be with the impeachment vote yesterday of Majorkas.  A miracle occurs and the majority of the Border portion of the bill magically reappears since there have been amendments.

You keep hearing how Schumer keeps saying “we need to take up the supplemental bill.” Why else did the Dems vote against aid to Israel yesterday if its so important? Why else does Biden insist the two bills be tied together?
And our rubber neck McConnell the old fox? Wouldn’t trust him one bit.

Just for giggles, Schumer shows his hand and angst with our favorite gal, Mika over at MSNBC… first three minutes tells you what it’s all about. Chuckie boy, why do we need these bills are wrapped up on one big package? An inquiring mind here.

Mayors Johnson and Adams and their Mental Breakdowns over the Migrant Crisis.

Mayor Adams compares himself to Jesus. Johnson begs for sympathy. “I have a black wife with a black family.” The pressure mounts on the black mayors of Chicago and New York City who are finally being held accountable with the migrant invasion into their cities. They don’t know how to deal with the disfavor.

The two are in a terrible bind. The community wants an end to the migrants taking all of what they perceive is their stuff. On the other hand, the party needs these migrants for the next census. Of course they pull out the Black biz for cover but it is getting so yesterday.. but what else is new?

Mayor of Chicago Brandon Johnson: In other words the translation.

I am having difficulty doing what I promised and things are hitting the fan” “also I’m black with a black family so you are required to overlook my ineptness”

The mayor of New York City takes it even farther with his exact words:

Mayor Eric Adams shows off his diverse administration: “Have you ever seen this much chocolate leading the city of New York??!! This is why they hating on me!” He then compares himself to Jesus for assembling such a non-White team.

Imagine a white mayor saying, “Have you seen this much vanilla leading the city of NY?” While going on to compare himself to Jesus.

The two show themselves..

They certainly are leading.

Any questions about the swamp?

Postscript: I have a follow up on yesterday’s post regarding the drug cartels setting up shop on Native American Reservations:

During her remarks, Gov. Noam made multiple references to the ravages of fentanyl and other drugs in South Dakota’s reservation communities — drugs she said got there thanks to Mexican drug cartels.  She offered to support the Oglala Sioux in a lawsuit filed against the federal government for failing to adequately address public safety on the reservation.

Mustang’s Update:

News agencies on Monday reported that because of Gov. Kristi Noem’s statement last week about drug activities on Indian Reservations, South Dakota Indian tribes banned her from their reservations.  What is interesting about this is that the Indians decided to ban the messenger but not the drug cartels, and this seems to indicate that Indian leadership is seriously lacking — to the detriment of their people.  It is a revolting development, but I’m not surprised.  We demonstrated in the original post that drug sales, distribution, and use on Indian Reservations throughout the United States are endemic.  Indian leadership can deny this all they want — but a more responsible course of action would be to ban drug cartels, not concerned state officials.

And that folks is the best of the swamp.

The Conservative Tree House nails it with the headline

After Vowing No More Continuing Resolution Spending Bills Last Year, Guess What the Republican Majority UniParty Just Passed.

Sundance proceeds with a masterful review of just how inane the whole budget process is and how far they have yet to go:

Yup, another kick-the-can continuing resolution spending bill has passed the House.  This extension lasts until March 1st and 8th.

The short-term CR negotiated in part by House Speaker Mike Johnson, passed the House on a 314-108 vote margin.  207 Democrats and 107 Republicans voted for it.  Yes, that’s correct; more democrats supported the CR than republicans, and this is with a republican house majority.

It’s a Democrat CR bill being brought up by a Republican House Speaker and passed by the UniParty.  Almost half of the Republicans voted against it (106), while just 2 Democrats voted no.  The DC UniParty in its full glory.

“Our Speaker, Mr. Johnson, said he was the most conservative speaker we’ve ever had, and yet here we are, putting this bill on the floor,” said. Rep. Eli Crane of Arizona in a floor speech ahead of the vote, adding that the situation is what “led to us to vacate Speaker McCarthy in the first place.”
