Steve Bannon on Speaker Johnson’s Latest CR – ‘I Don’t Need A Theologian I Need a Speaker

The House Speaker pushes through another Continuing Resolution. This time Johnson needed more Democrats that Goppers to pass it. Says it all doesn’t it. Disaffection with Johnson grows.

The Conservative Tree House nails it with the headline

After Vowing No More Continuing Resolution Spending Bills Last Year, Guess What the Republican Majority UniParty Just Passed.

Sundance proceeds with a masterful review of just how inane the whole budget process is and how far they have yet to go:

Yup, another kick-the-can continuing resolution spending bill has passed the House.  This extension lasts until March 1st and 8th.

The short-term CR negotiated in part by House Speaker Mike Johnson, passed the House on a 314-108 vote margin.  207 Democrats and 107 Republicans voted for it.  Yes, that’s correct; more democrats supported the CR than republicans, and this is with a republican house majority.

It’s a Democrat CR bill being brought up by a Republican House Speaker and passed by the UniParty.  Almost half of the Republicans voted against it (106), while just 2 Democrats voted no.  The DC UniParty in its full glory.

“Our Speaker, Mr. Johnson, said he was the most conservative speaker we’ve ever had, and yet here we are, putting this bill on the floor,” said. Rep. Eli Crane of Arizona in a floor speech ahead of the vote, adding that the situation is what “led to us to vacate Speaker McCarthy in the first place.”

Steve Bannon takes on the issue with Johnson in his inimitable style.

Sundance ends the discussion with

Madness…..

Complete and utter dysfunction.

It is more than well worth riding over to the Conservative Tree House for the description of the steps to the process yet to unfold.

Another turkey spending bill known as a CR passes

Frankly I am sick of all of it. How come when the Dems had the majority they could always manage to figure out a way to get bills through even though they didn’t have 60 or a super majority?  So Reid blackmails the GOP in giving them everything they want. Somehow Reid gets it done. But McConnell that old turkey neck? Held captive. And as for Trump? I am getting about as sick of him as one can get. Frankly, I don’t think after second thought he even wants the job the way he is acting. Recall my post from 2012

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) pledged on Wednesday to change the rules of the Senate so that the minority party has fewer tools to obstruct legislative business. (The GOP is so annoying-don’t you just hate having three branches)?

But I digressed:

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is furious that yet another bloated bill to keep the government running was approved on Capitol Hill this week and he fears it will only set the stage for an even greater spending binge come December.

“Primarily, it’s not happening because in the Senate, Harry Reid won’t let the individual bills come up for a vote. That’s the way it’s supposed to work,” said Jordan. “He’s been able to win every fight by saying, ‘Look, I’m going to hold up defense spending until you give me the spending I want on domestic issues.”

“What that means is taxpayers get the short end. I think, frankly, our military gets the short end of that deal too and it’s just not good for the country,” said Jordan.

Comrade Boehner offers 10 lies in support of Omnibus budget bill

UPDATE for individual votes. This is procedural vote only.

Vote Tally Count Omnibus budget bill

Ten things Comrade Boehner wants you to know about his porkulus coming down. But of course the dang website had been down so I guess we don’t get the three days. Here is a taste of what is in the bill, 401K’s next.

PENSIONS:

For the first time, the benefits of current retirees could be severely cut, part of an effort to save some of the nation’s most distressed pension plans. The change would alter 40 years of federal law and could affect millions of workers, many of them part of a shrinking corps of middle-income employees in businesses such as trucking, construction and supermarkets. Read more on this here.

Wander over to his page if you want to read his 10 lies. Just Like Obamacare: Boehner’s Omnibus Website Fails, Bill Text Disappears Behind ‘Server Error’

A few short hours after the House GOP posted Speaker John Boehner’s 1,603-page $1.1 trillion omnibus bill text on its website, the website failed.

The bill text—both the PDF and the XML versions—went down around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night, for unspecified reasons. Speaker Boehner’s spokesman Michael Steel hasn’t responded to inquiries as to why the bill is no longer available for the public to see.

Instead of the bill being available online, the website reads: “Server Error.”

“401 – Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials,” the website now reads. “You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.”

The Rules Committee website which serves as a gateway to get to the bill text is still up.

From Boehner Gov: (10 point plan)

The House Appropriations Committee has released the FY 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill.  The bill contains a number of important measures to fulfill the people’s priorities, including protecting jobs, stopping wasteful spending, reining in government overreach, and funding our national security. -“

Comments from so called “dummies” over at his website:

Full ObamaCare funding, FULL amnesty funding, and $250 million MORE than Obama wants for the EPA –oh, and a disgraceful cut to housing money for rank-and-file military.

HE GOP “LEADERSHIP” HAS GONE INSANE:

The $1.1 TRILLION dollar “cromnibus” spending bill being RAMMED through the House with Dem votes is a DISASTER…. Not only does it FULLY FUND every aspect of ObamaCare, and FULLY FUND every aspect of Obama’s illegal executive amnesty, it gives the Environmental Protection Agency $250 million MORE than Obama requests…. In short — the bill – just four weeks after a massive, historical Republican election – looks as if DEMOCRATS have huge congressional majorities… It absolutely BOGGLES THE MIND, the level to which Rs are in lockstep with Democrats, who doubtless can’t believe how stupid they are.

Full screed of Mr Boner at Boehner Gov with his 10 point lies.

RINO’s and Dems join in cutting military benefits. Merry Christmas Scrooge

Onward we go with the Omnibus spending bill. Forget that within a month we will control Congress. By all means, let us “do” the NDAA as well and apparently screw the military. Perfect. Here is Hugh Hewitt and his take on it. But first look at the other pork present that the GOP is adding, but of course we cannot be fair to our military. We can only imagine what else we will find out because we have to pass the bill to find out what is in it.

Congress Includes Land Grab Provisions in National Defense Authorization

Some lawmakers negotiated the inclusion of land grab provisions in the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will expand the already massive federal real state holdings.

The Senate aide told Breitbart News that highlights of the lands provision include:

  • 275,000 acres designated as new Wilderness Areas;
  • A Women’s History Museum;
  • Four new National Parks seven National Park studies for new parks to be;
  • 16 National Heritage extensions;
  • Three new Wild and Scenic River (WSR) designations and three new WSR studies that are expected to become new designations; and
  • Land entitlement for Sealaska, an Alaska Native Regional Corporation

Critics consider those provisions pork because they have nothing to do with defense or national security. The NDAA provides guidance for U.S. defense spending and policy. It is considered a “must-pass” legislation.

The public land provisions are included the text of the NDAA for fiscal 2015 under “TITLE XXX—NATURAL RESOURCES RELATED GENERAL PROVISIONS.”

Back to the military:

“Harry Reid screwed this up all year long and President Obama and now Republicans are going along with the screwing of the military. I do not know why we bother to win elections when we turn around and screw the people we campaign on,” conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt said on his show last night after an interview with Republican Senator Jim Inhofe.

Yesterday the lame-duck Senate released its detailed plan for the National Defense Authorization Act. The legislation cuts the pay raise for the military, imposes caps on basic housing allowance and imposes co-pays on prescription drugs totaling $5 billion in overall cuts.

All of the pay and benefits trims were backed by the Pentagon and White House in an effort to slow the growth of personnel costs. The housing cuts and pharmacy co-pays were the final sticking points for lawmakers, with a compromise reached after nearly a month of behind-the-scenes fights. When asked to explain the reasoning behind the cuts, especially when the federal government funds so much nonsense, the best Inhofe could come up with in the interview was, “We need a bill.” Inhofe sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee

GOP back stabbing with Omnibus spending bill in Lame Duck session of Congress?

A drum beat has been going on with little light of day. The debate? Whether this lame duck session will pass a short-term CR or an Omnibus spending bill that will take funding the government through September of 2015. This would preclude any attempts at reining in the government until then. Why in the world after all of the CR’s would we now not do one for a couple of months and attempt to control this out of control government when we will have both Houses of Congress? Deal with the Immigration issue as a separate issue? Obamacare? EPA?

An omnibus spending package funding the government through next September is expected to hit the House floor next week, House Appropriations Committee spokeswoman Jennifer Hing told The Hill.

Hing said negotiators made significant progress over the Thanksgiving holiday in crafting a full omnibus bill, which would include appropriations for the entire government.

House Republican leaders are pitching a plan that would fund nearly all government agencies through next September except the Department of Homeland Security. DHS – which oversees nearly all immigration operations – would only be funded until March. That vote is likely to come next week, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told lawmakers in a closed-door meeting Tuesday morning. (We know this is not going anywhere and/or is meaningless)

The biggest battle is going on in the choosing of the Senate Chairs. Sessions is fighting for Chair of the Budget Committee. He is key to any hope of the Conservatives stopping the Obama juggernaut whether it be Immigration or Obamacare, EPA, you name it.

Two Republican senators are facing off in a bitter battle for the chairmanship of the Senate Budget Committee, which could turn into a “proxy war” on immigration, Talking Points Memo reported.

In the wake of the GOP taking control of the Senate, Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming, a longtime committee member, is seeking to reclaim his seniority over Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the committee’s ranking member.

Oh we now hear the Democratic Senators exclaim how unacceptable it would be not to pass the Omnibus bill. How could the government function really? Truth be told, the Senators for years failed to offer a budget as required by law.

But far worse, are our turn coat GOpers starting to sing the same tune.

Update from Weasel Zippers:

Sessions: House GOP Is Already Close To Breaking Their 2014 Election Promises…

Via National Review:

Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) suggested that House Republicans are on the verge of breaking their campaign promise to fight President Obama’s administrative amnesty, as evidenced by the legislative text currently being circulated.

Sessions said that the proposed language “fails to meet [the] test” established by Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, who promised earlier this year that the GOP would do everything possible to thwart Obama’s executive orders.

Elderly couple thrown out of home thanks to ‘shutdown’

Anyone who has visited the Lake Mead area knows how expansive it is. Not mentioned are the hundreds of House Boats that are located on the lake as well as the many homes that dot the shoreline. So these folks are plum out of luck. How about this couple of old timers? In their home they have owned for over 40 years.

They weren’t even able to grab Ralph’s pants.

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) — The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they’re being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.

Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They’ve been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn’t an option.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they’ve owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

“I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants,” Joyce Spencer told Action News.

The Stewart’s Point home sits on federal land, so even though the Spencers own their cabin outright, they’re not allowed in until the government reopens.

Park officials said property owners can visit only to retrieve belongings; they sent Action News a statement which reads in part, “Unfortunately overnight stays are not permitted until a budget is passed and the park can reopen.”

Joyce Spencer said she’s alright in the meantime, staying with nearby family, but the move was a lot to handle as a senior citizen.

“I had to be sure and get his walker and his scooter that he has to go in,” Spencer said. “We’re not hurt in any way except it might cost me if I have to go buy more pants.”

‘Dirty Harry’ Reid: “Why would we help one kid with cancer?”

Harry Reid: ‘Why Would We Want To’ Help One Kid With Cancer?

Dirty Harry can’t even imagine a reporter, and this time one from CNN, would dare to even question him on behalf of the regime, of any position or action. It is easy for us to forget that these Progressives do not share the value we place on life. A child with cancer? Just a sacrifice. World War Two vets? Look, they have done their thing and the regime hates any reminder of the military anyway. Shut them out of seeing the monument dedicated to them.

But this isn’t the first time Reid showed his contempt for us. First the CNN reporter’s question. Then, what he thinks about smelly tourists.

Sen. Harry Reid is happy smelly tourists will be corralled in the Capitol Visitors Center instead of the Capitol
