Introducing the Upcoming FASTag Regulations

 1. Required KYC Updates

The Public Installments Enterprise of India (NPCI) has delivered new orders zeroed in on FASTag Know Your Client (KYC) requirements. The basic updates are as per the following-

  • Existing FASTag Holders-It is a prerequisite that you update your KYC information by October 31, 2024 according to the new guidelines.

New Requirements Beginning August 1, 2024-

This replacement process will be carried out on a best-effort basis, meaning that issuers will make every reasonable attempt to replace these older tags in a timely and efficient manner. The goal is to ensure that all vehicles are equipped with the latest FASTag technology, which is expected to improve transaction security and efficiency at toll plazas.

Re-KYC Requirement

Every three years, users will need to undergo a re-KYC process to maintain the validity of their FASTag. This re-KYC process ensures that the information associated with each FASTag is up-to-date and accurate, reducing the risk of fraud and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
