Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. The need for blood is constant. But only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. You can help the American Red Cross make sure that supply meets demand.

It feels good to give! Blood donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction after making their donation. Why? Because helping others in need just feels good.

One Bexley's "The Big Table" Community Conversation Part of The Columbus Foundation's The Big Table Initiative

October 21, 2025  6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Bexley Public Library, 2411 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43209, USA

https://bexleylibrary.org/event/14388393

The Big Table® is a community-wide day of conversation sponsored by The Columbus Foundation. Through intentional dialogue and connection, participants are encouraged to imagine the next steps toward a kind and just future in central Ohio. Meet new people, share our lived experiences, discuss issues that impact our lives, and discover ways to connect with neighbors to work toward building a kind, connected community in Bexley where everyone has a seat at the table.

Amid an epidemic of loneliness and isolation in our society, it is essential to prioritize opportunities for meaningful connection. The Big Table is an invitation for community members to connect, knowing that we don’t have all the answers, but by actively listening and engaging, together, we can acknowledge and address challenges and opportunities. By fostering a culture of curiosity and kindness, we can enhance our individual and collective well-being, opening doors for stronger social bonds and a more connected, resilient community where everyone has a seat at the table.

This year's "The Big Table" community conversation is co-hosted with One Bexley around its mission to "deliberately and comprehensively bolster our community culture to ensure that Bexley is welcoming and provides a sense of belonging for all community members and visitors."

We hope to see you around our Big Table!

One Bexley Real Talk: Environmental Racism & Ecological Justice

April 8, 2026  6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Bexley Public Library, 2411 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43209, USA

This month's One Bexley Real Talk community conversation on what environmental racism and ecological justice looks like around Columbus. What communities are targeted when large scale city development projects are planned? Who benefits from these projects? And what are the long term environmental impacts? Hear stories about communities who have been displaced by city development projects, learn about what communities are currently being impacted by commercial development and what that means for our environmental wellness around Columbus, and discuss what actions we can take to ensure a healthy environment for all.

Our conversation facilitators this month are Bexley Police Chief Gary Lewis, who will share his family's story and the legacy of Hanford Village, and Michael Wilkos, Vice President of Community Engagement at United Way of Central Ohio, who will facilitate a conversation focused on the past, present, and future of development around central Ohio and who it impacts.

The One Bexley Real Talk series is an ongoing conversation series where we come together to discuss pressing social issues, current events, and challenging topics around identity and humanity with the goal of building community and strengthening connections in and around Bexley.

Details about One Bexley can be found at onebexley.us. Information about all of the Earth and Arbor month events can be found at bexley.org/earthandarbor.

Bexley is an architectural treasure! The beauty and charm of its residential neighborhoods reflects an inspired era in residential architecture that is both timeless and enduring. The period between 1910 and 1930 saw an explosion in popular architectural styles that coincided with the development of Bexley as a first ring suburb, an alternative to living “in the city.” Come and explore with us the evolution of architectural styles from the early beginnings of Columbus and its newly created downtown to and beyond the rapidly developing Bexley area between 1910-1930. You will also learn how to “deconstruct” architectural design: what are the key elements and composition of a design that make it appealing to the eye and what principles and rules help create harmony and balance (both for a specific house as well as within the context of its neighborhood).

Jazz in the Park with Arch City Big Band

Havenwood Park, 2425 Havenwood Dr S, Bexley, OH 43209, USA

We'll close out the 2026 Jazz in the Park season in Havenwood Park with the Arch City Big Band! Since forming in 2020, the Arch City Big Band has played its way into the hearts of Columbus jazz enthusiasts by performing at venues such as:  Franklin Park Conservatory's New Years' Eve Conservatory Aglow; The Big Band Showcase at the Valley Dale Ballroom; St. Brendan's Festival; The German Village Garten Club's Summer Concert Series in Frank Fetch Park; The Hilliard Arts Council Summer Concert Series; and numerous other private and public performances in the Columbus Metropolitan area.    As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, in keeping with our mission to inspire our community to enjoy, pursue, and preserve Big Band Jazz, the Arch City Big Band has provided mini-grants to several youth jazz programs in the Columbus area – a program that we are committed to expanding in the future.  In addition, the Arch City Big Band performs joint concerts with High School Jazz Bands in the area.   The all-volunteer band is made up of professional and experienced musicians, ranging in age from high school students to baby boomers.  The musicians have held various occupations, including engineer, attorney, music teacher, IT professional, social worker, and many more!  This eclectic combination of talent joins together with one common passion – to keep Big Band music alive!
