Livingston Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project
Re-imagining livingston avenue from alum creek to james road
Following a multi-year public engagement process, the Cities of Bexley and Columbus adopted the Joint Livingston Avenue Plan and are now ready to move forward with the design of the Livingston Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project, a major effort to make the corridor safer, more walkable, and more welcoming for all users.
The project will reconstruct the roadway and add new features such as enhanced crosswalks, landscaped medians, shared-use paths, upgraded lighting, stormwater improvements, signal replacements, and COTA transit upgrades. Construction is expected to begin in 2029, with substantial completion in 2030.
As the design moves ahead, the project team is requesting public feedback on the proposed improvements. Your input will help shape the final design for the corridor.
Joint Livingston Avenue Plan Project Background
The Joint Livingston Avenue Plan is the guiding document for the Livingston Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project. The plan provides a framework for a more safe and accessible Livingston Avenue, with cooperative economic development and land use policies focused on revitalizing the corridor and surrounding neighborhoods of Bexley, Berwick, Eastmoor, and Driving Park.
As a direct result of the efforts behind the plan, Bexley and Columbus partnered to secure over $13.6 million in federal grant funds to support over $18.7 million in expansive streetscape improvements to Livingston. The project includes roadway reconstruction, enhanced crosswalks, landscaped medians, shared use paths, street lighting, stormwater improvements, signal replacements, and COTA upgrades. Ultimately, these improvements are planned to calm traffic and increase pedestrian, cycler and motorist safety.
