SenHai Saturday #48
Here is this week’s image to get your creative juices flowing! This picture shows the hills in the light, with a foggy background. The colors are white, tan, and dark brown.
Please create one senryu and one haiku to accompany this image prompt. Remember that traditional American haikus and senryus are three lines presented in a 5-7-5 syllabic pattern. The haiku describes nature or a season, and the senryu focuses on human nature and emotions.
Then, provide a link in the comments below or ping back to this post on your blog.
Here is a wrap-up of last week’s prompt. I appreciate each of you for sharing your thoughts!

Phone calls this week
Have things in common
Yes, she could be the one
The year? Nineteen Ninety Two
A brand new day, head over heels
I am told horrible, dreadful news
She has been hit by a car and has died
MY ALL
That smile, those eyes, are enchanting to me
You comfort me
Complete me
My love

STALKER
Why am I so special, that you chose me?
Two eyes on me, relentless
Give me peace, leave me be
FEAR
As I approach sixty, I ponder fate
That’s when God took YOU, from us
Will God take me, as well?

Literary Revelations – Haiku For Soulmates News!
I did a thing back in January. 😁 Gabriela Marie Milton, Editor in Chief Extraordinaire of Literary Revelations, put out a call for submissions for the anthology Haiku for Soulmates. I answered that call, and found out a couple of days ago that ALL five of my haiku were accepted!! I’m over the moon to receive this good news! It couldn’t have come at a better time!
In the past, Gabriela has accepted poetry from me and included it in three other incredible anthologies – Wounds I Healed: The Poetry of Strong Women, Hidden in Childhood: A Poetry Anthology, and Tranquility: An Anthology of Haiku. I am thrilled to be included in this upcoming volume. It is slated for publication sometime this May. I’ll share more news as it becomes available to me.
Life In A Cruel World
Redux
Being deaf wouldn’t lessen the atrocities I see around me.
Being blind doesn’t shield me from the screams of anguish.
Being mute won’t stop the tears I’d shed in agony.
Being paralyzed can’t keep me from helping when there’s a need.
Being ignorant puts off the inevitable.
They say ignorance is bliss.
But even the ignorant can feel pain.
It’ll come. Just wait for it.

Underwater Secrets
A splash of color changed the scenery as light crept over the hills. A lone heron began to stalk the reeds, moving through layers of mist quietly. What luck! Beneath the water, a lost jewel glimmered, and my face filled with joy. A blue ribbon attached to it like a harness, hinted at stories buried with it. Above, the sky turned gold, another day set in motion. I smiled. The scent of black pepper vines and earth mingled, reminding me of my mission. I stooped to grab the gem from the water, then left to go pick peppercorns for Mama.

Here is this week’s image to get your creative juices flowing! This picture features a flamingo dipping its beak into water. It has a black-and-white beak, toned-down pink feathers, and yellow eyes. The background is dark and blurry, the pool of water a bit lighter, showing the ripples outward where it dipped down for a drink.
