Silliness

This Saturday afternoon I joined the Darwin drawing club at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
We could sit anywhere and just draw what we’d like.
I sat in front of strange creatures created by Aboriginal artists  from recycled materials. They are made of cloths, dry hay and woollen thread tied all around.  Now, forgive me, I forgot to write down the name of the artists. I will update at my next visit.

Drawing amongst   art and other fellow artists was a lovely experience I need to do more of…

And I shall take a picture of the original pieces… They all have their own personality and presence.

So fun!
This other piece was inspired by a large suspended object made of natural material, made  and used  by Aboriginal people to catch fish. I tried to capture the idea;)

Nurture

I have been very quiet lately. I can’t keep up it seems.

A long week end in Bali was the most nurturing experience. And the most needed.

My favourite thing was  to see everywhere their daily rituals, actually every morning and evening. Little holders, made of palm leaves waived together,  of offerings are simply everywhere. This Balinese Hinduism ritual, which get created in the early morning hours and replaced for the evening is to appease the Gods. You’ll find them everywhere, some intact, some rolled over. No offence here!

The rice fields have been a source of fascination.  Totally new to my psyche! I couldn’t get enough of them.

And some inspired drawing and journaling. Bliss.

Can’t wait to return!

Table top

Here I am already. Thought I would leave my blog alone for a while;) A conversation with a dear friend (so lovely to talk to you Christo;) inspired me to come back and remain connected, even though online connection never will replace the richness of real, face-to-face connection with friends. I miss those connections immensely.

In the meantime, I just signed up into a new workshop, always stimulating and exciting.

Table top from Diane Culhane workshop is a  short drawing and painting class  which I’ve been wanting to do for some time.

Here’s my first take of my table top..

A messy table top, trying different combinations, and an empty coffee cup;).

I’m loving this experiment and am ready to try on a larger piece.

This one is another experiment, mixing techniques.
Even though this turned out very flat, I’m Loving the fact that I am now confident enough to try without following ‘rules’. It’s like baking a cake without following the recipe completely, making my own version of it;)

Now let’s try to be loose with the recipe !

wee

I always loved this expression ‘wee bit’. Love the sound of it, unreal word.

Here is a wee bit of magic..

I often struggle with series it seems, when it is  planed; less intuitive, less spontaneous,  the magic doesn’t appear easily. If not at all!

I had created this cute face with a rabbit suit out of nowhere last week end and was totally smitten by him. So I decided to try a series.

Not quite there…

Certainly a wee bit of fun;)

ahead

yes a new year ahead of us…

may this year be filled with kindness and compassion…
and more art making!!!

no doubt about that;)

…as I just signed to Misty Mawn new online workshop

I am still working on her Full Circle workshop, as well as Gillian Smith Unearth Gather Create…

Also, recently my friend Lyn gifted me a Year of Painting with Alena Hennessy!!!!

ahead of myself? oh well…

So…dear friends, a wonderful year to you!

Essence

For the next few posts, I will bring Switzerland to you… and a bit of Venezia as well…

To start with, a few pictures of Greg, my cousin who inspires me so much! Greg does cheese traditionally up at the ‘Alpage’ each summer. Four cheeses per day, using 1400 liters of milk each time!!! Seriously!
Every time I witness this, I am amazed and humbled by this ancient knowledge continued. Simple hard work really!

home

The other day, it hit  me…again.

It was after my short trip to Sydney. A training week end, which went a bit like this: in a plane, out of the plane, taxi, hotel, taxi, training, taxi, hotel, taxi, training, taxi, airport. Didn’t see much of Sydney really!

Not hard to see where I’m heading…

Home…

When I arrived home….Aaah…this feeling of being home! It just hit me…

Isn’t it so lovely, so delicious when you’ve found a home that suits you.

Not just some lovely walls in a lovely neighborhood; it’s more than that… having a loving partner, a safe place to grow…

When you traveled far, and looked a lot…to find yourself lost so many times, not knowing where to go..

Until you find yourself…

When I arrived back home in the middle of the night and looked around, I felt this through every part of my being.

I was home.

Blog theme joy

Sorry for changing theme again… I can’t make up my mind to get the right setting;) Even though WordPress is fantastic and everything is in place for the best use for the beginner that I am, I am still struggling to understand how it works!!!

Aah… breath!
