heartening

In this new era of technology (which is not really new anymore, I know) where everything and anything is instantly accessible, we probably still think that we need to protect ourselves from what could get us…Some weird monster hiding in a corner of the computer or something…

Well…recently, I got reminded that it is larger than this and the fact that our humanity is not lost at all…that genuine friendship and generosity can happen via Internet.

Clearly Instagram has been a propulsor to my creativity but not only. I have found a supportive community that is so encouraging, friendly and trustworthy, where we all feel safe with each other. More to that is that I am finding real friends across the world…friends that I am hoping I will meet one day.

The other day, Lyn contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in receiving Alena Hennessy’s One Year Painting online course, as she was offered to gift it to someone. She thought of me! whom she had never met! how incredible is that!!?! I was stoked, speechless and so grateful!!

Later, as I knew I would be travelling to her city, I asked Lyn if she’d be keen to meet up! So we did! Instafriends becoming friends! it happens people!!! and it warms my heart!!

Lyn shared about her new art project… have a look here http://lynmarguerite.com/

Thank you Lyn! Thank you friends around the world, whom I have not met yet, whom I will meet one day…thank you! You are awesome!

Essence

For the next few posts, I will bring Switzerland to you… and a bit of Venezia as well…

To start with, a few pictures of Greg, my cousin who inspires me so much! Greg does cheese traditionally up at the ‘Alpage’ each summer. Four cheeses per day, using 1400 liters of milk each time!!! Seriously!
Every time I witness this, I am amazed and humbled by this ancient knowledge continued. Simple hard work really!

my birthday today…
and feeling immensely grateful!
Thank you World!
my family, my dear friends, my love. Thank you!
I am reflecting of my 44 years of life and feeling amazed of the journey…but most, the people who are part of it!! from a distance, from the past, or the present,
from a moment
to the Eternity…
I have you with me.

morning darling

This morning, after waking up, I went in my studio. I wasn’t sure what to do, what to start or to continue…
so I sat in my bean bag. I paused for a moment. I just sat and felt this immense gratitude…

Grateful for being in this place, grateful for being able to learn and play and laugh freely, while listening to some KD Lang. How lovely…

Balthus et Rossiniere

IMG_3048

Balthus, his wife Setsuko and their daughter Harumi arrived in my home village, Rossiniere around 1977-78 and established themselves at the Grand Chalet, historical monument of the region, magnificient wooden chalet built around 1754. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Chalet.

I was 7 and I remember the sight of this Japanese woman bringing her child to the village school for the first time. Setsuko was dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono and looked like coming from another world to the seven year old child that I was. After a while, a few girls of the village, including me, became friend with Harumi and occasionally we played at the Grand Chalet.

I got to look at Balthus’ work only later in life. Art is like poetry I think. I had to mature to be able to access and appreciate.

Balthus, who in the early years of his life, had a strong connection with Rainer Maria Rilke (one of my favorite author), had many artists and poets visiting and walking the paths of my little village.

Balthus died in 2001. His wife Setsuko still lives in Rossiniere.

Grateful for this culture and art enrichment and for my Swiss roots!!
