Odd that I remember remebering a dream a few days ago, and I still remember last nights dream, which featured Cirque, a low mounted spot chair, an oversize microphone, being there for a q2q and a clueless director.
At least for our being a "lawfully wedded" couple. :)
Thirteen years and two days ago giraffeaholic came to chuppah.
And Thirteen years and nine days ago we both had our first marriage. <grin>
On our way to following our parents' examples.
New job. Went from supporting 5 or so systems that the agency was working hard to get rid of to being on a team of 2 supporting well over 200 servers in a critical and very visible government program.
And the security stance is much more lenient than the previous agency.
Now, having seen leiacat's review of Cirque, I think I need to get one up also. :)
I am now a tri-ped (one crutch). About 2 weeks ago my orthopedic surgeon gave me permission to go to "as much as I could stand" for weight on the broken leg. So I've been a tri-ped since. I expect next visit in a month from now I'll have the too long bolt removed.
Still can't walk long distances - and by that I mean 1/4 - 1/2 mile is my absolute limit.
According to those who know the TBI has affected my short term memory. And I am a bit more hot tempered than before the hit.
Thank you to all who helped through the gofundme that was set up for me.
I am in the process of returning to work full time. This week will be 24 hours. Next week 32. And then back to full time.
And the 'insurance' has left me thousands short. Thankfully the lawyer has a method of telling medical creditors to 'wait, as we have a lawsuit pending which we expect to win."

not that I remember the beginning of it.
According to family, friends, my bike computer, and the police - I was struck by a car on Thursday morning 4 August around 8:30am, as I was biking to work.
Left leg shattered, Traumatic Brain Injury in addition to concussion.
I did not return to any sense of human until mid Friday Afternoon. Was in ICU until at least then, and was moved to a regular room in Suburban hospital until I was moved to 'rehab'on the 10th.
Now I work through the not-managed pain to be ready in case my health insurance company decides on only 1 week.
And a friend has set up a go-fund-me (search my real name), and others have sent help directly.
So, to paraphrase, The play is great.
And as I put goals in the tags I guess I should list some of them.
Sway/dance with DW at our 10 year anniversary delayed by 1 month.
get up the 28 (I think) steps to spend 1 night in my bed by the end of the month.
Be able to bike to the bottom of Watermill Lane and Back by the end of September.
Be able to commute by my Birthday.

Unless I have your name in my contacts list that is. Some friends are not in the list, so if you go to voice mail, call back immediately and I will answer. That is something the lower-than-cruz-scum-of-the-earth haven't started to do yet.
I was looking for an old Ipod that I had years ago. I know where my nano went. But can't remember what I did with the 4th/5th gen black one.
Tour de Cure (ride with the herd) - For my brother in law
National MS Society (ride with Team Greykell) - for a friend, mother of another friend
Ride To Victory-John Hopkins (ride solo) or American Cancer Society (hopefully with Team Fsck Cancer) - for far too many. A dear friend, my Sister-by-choice.
Opinions, thoughts, lobbying?
earlier this week find out MIL has had poor results from lumpectomy. Margins poor. MRI scheduled, mastectomy probable in the next month.
this morning found out my sister-by-choice is now in hospice - her decision. She has systemic cancers, diagnosed in January.
To take a line from "A New Brain": It's a really lousy day in the universe.
And to finish the day, find out the father of a friend has pancreatic cancer.
And on the innocence of children. (Both M.R. and D.R. were with us).
When we arrived M.R. said it looked like a hotel. And after seeing our friend with no hair, asked why. After DW explained that the sickness took it away, she said "so it will grow back when she gets better". Not breaking down upon hearing that is hard still.

Same place as Sunday.
Then I need to find about 100 linear feet of 4x4 or 6x to create a wall to level the back to.
Hey
At least I have bike commuting, if not anything longer.

Kevin Hollenbeck took a spectacular picture of Alex and Renee's final dance in The Conservatory.

Given that they love the picture, and Kevin agreed to this, I thought they should have a big copy as a memento. The plan is to get a 16"x24" print, framed and matted, to be sent to them in CA.
-----
While great interest has been expressed, there have been only 3 donations. One of the problems was no paypal. This has been taken care of. Paypal can now be done through jeff.poretsky@gmail.com.
As my life will get very interesting in the beginning of September, I am setting an end date of 15 August to raise the $175(ish - do not know the final cost yet, but it should not be more than that). If we do not reach it by then, all donations shall be returned.
Given that I will ride _home_ from work even if it is raining...GOAL MET!!! I have commuted to work every day this week.

New American Haggadah translated by Nathan Englander.
First scan through the Haggadot...The Weisel has some great commentary from his life. One of the key threads running through it is that Pesach was the last holiday before the Shoah took him and his family.
The New American has some great commentary and trivia. But the typography sucks. One of bad editorial work, and one of design. The editors seem to have missed a few word breaks. Like having the E in Exodus on a separate line from the xodus.
And they play way too much with different fonts, points, and weights, not to mention having the text in 3 different directions. This will certainly be a commentary only haggadah.

Mississippi is voting on November 8th on whether to pass Amendment 26, the "Personhood Amendment". This amendment would grant fertilized eggs and fetuses personhood status.
Putting aside the contentious issue of abortion, this would effectively outlaw birth control and criminalize women who have miscarriages. This is not a good thing.
Jackson Women's Health Organization is the only place women can get abortions in the entire state, and they are trying to launch a grassroots movement against this amendment. This doesn't just apply to Mississippi, though, as Personhood USA, the group that introduced this amendment, is trying to introduce identical amendments in all 50 states.
What's more, in Mississippi, this amendment is expected to pass. It even has Mississippi Democrats, including the Attorney General, Jim Hood, backing it.
The reason I'm posting this here is because I made a meager donation to the Jackson Women's Health Organization this morning, and I received a personal email back hours later - on a Sunday - thanking me and noting that I'm one of the first "outside" people to contribute.
So if you sometimes pass on political action because you figure that enough other people will do something to make a difference, make an exception on this one. My RSS reader is near silent on this amendment. I only found out about it through a feminist blog. The mainstream media is not reporting on it.
If there is ever a time to donate or send a letter in protest, this would be it.
What to do?
- Read up on it. Wake Up, Mississippi is the home of the grassroots effort to fight this amendment. Daily Kos also has a thorough story on it.
- If you can afford it, you can donate at the site's link.
- You can contact the Democratic National Committee to see why more of our representatives aren't speaking out against this.
- Like this Facebook page to help spread awareness.

I broke into the 14+ mph average just before the MS ride, on 6/7.
My weekly average has gone up by .1 mph every week since them. So far this week
I'm at 14.5, over 2 days commute. If I can keep this up I will be very happy.
The key seems to be twofold: no bandanna, and spinning much more. The bandanna
was not letting me cool off enough. I would finish the ride wasted. Now I cool off
much better. I will need to find a very lightweight and breathable one for the long
sunny rides though.
I thought I was spinning before, running about 85 on the flat. I now run in th 95 range.
Also when I hit hills the downshifts happen much later. So instead of going fast at the
bottom and worrying about growing moss at the top, I try for a mid speed, and last much
longer.
My new goal is a metric before the end of the summer in 4 hours. Now to find a supported
ride that is in a nice flat area :)

Over 6.38± miles
Comparing yesterday and today shows the difference
6/21 to work: 27 min, 14 mph
6/21 from work: 27 min 14.1 mph
6/22 to work: 26 min, 14.8 mph
6/22 from work: 26 min, 14.7 mph
The difference is my cadence. A change of about 20% faster when starting a hill made an amazing difference.
Why not help me reach my goal amount. Every single dollar helps.

OK. Final straw. If you claim to be Republican GO TO HELL!
This, plus your new fucking war. Hold back 3 or 4 of those Tomahawks and you have saved the funding for NPR. Hold back the FUCKING tax breaks to those who are NOT going to spend it to "create jobs" (What a load of crap that is), and you'll cut the deficit by half.
AND the proven BULLSHIT from Breitbart pushing you to defund Acorn, and NPR - which even a republican talking head admitted was doctored into un-recognizability.
After looking at Wisc., Ohio, and the other states where you are running your feifdoms, I have to wonder what overreaching ANTI-small government ideas you are going to come up with next.
Hey, inverse wolders, FIRING people does not "create jobs". 72 Hours is a measurable item. And Laws DO apply to you.
