Floating

I went to the water and found my words.

She told me I could write and I believed her.

She was the sky.

I knew she would never lie.

She told me, “There is no limit to how high you can fly.”

“All I have to do its try.”

The Words are in the Water

He told me how many raindrops were in the clouds.

What to do when lightning strikes the ground.

How much he loves my blue eyes,

Such a contrast from his brown.

I wondered about the meaning of life

Contemplating why we’re all here.

“I’m a philosopher,” I said.

He responded, “I consider myself an artist.”

I asked, “What do you think the meaning of life is?”

“I think we’re here for love, for beauty.

And happiness,” he said.

We walked the rest of the way in silence,

hand in hand down the wooded trail.

Thinking

paper-airplane-icon

The bills pile up.

A paper airplane flies out the window.

I smile, and write.

And wonder what you’re up to tonight.

making love and paper airplanes

He stood in the kitchen making paper airplanes.

An image of my son came to mind.  He’d shared a similar interest, at age ten.

I reclaimed my clothes from the living room floor, went to my bedroom, and quietly closed the door.

When he left, I opened my notebook to a clean sheet of paper.

Chance Encounter

My notebook fell open and my dreams fell out.

As they floated to the floor, he stopped to look down.

One by one he picked them up, dusted them off, and handed them to me.

In that moment, I knew,

All of my dreams were about to come true.

How To Understand the True Struggle In Life

I know this principle but love the way it’s put together here in this blog post. Something I need to read every morning.

Memories

It’s been almost a year.

Seems more like a lifetime.

There was no funeral.

No tears, or laughter.

Only silence.

And a small, but steady, hurrah.
