Sharin’ Sharon – FOWC

There is a gal named Sharon
For friends she’s always a carin’
Once she thought and she thought
Of the cantaloupes she bought
And said with neighbors I’ll be sharin’

Sharon is never gloomy or glum
And would share with you her last crumb
She never grumbles or groans
Nor mumbles or moans
Tell me where her kindness comes from

Sharon is my neighborhood friend
For many things on her I depend
When I feel a bit frail
She picks up my mail
To her love and best wishes I send

“There is no possession more valuable than a good and faithful friend.” Socrates

“It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.” Marlene Dietrich

Ladysighs Sings

Her fans begged Ladysighs to sing
Some delight to us please do bring
First she cackled then she cluckled
Behind her back how they chuckled
And said she was but a ding-a-ling

Ladysighs said I tried my best
And I thank you for the request
That you thought I sang bad
Will never make me mad or sad
If you can sing better be my guest

********

When I sing I feel happy. When friends listen to me I feel lucky.

Strong smart sincere Sadje started shouting and screaming sweet salutations.

Under a Tree

I’m under a tree all by myself
with my beautiful picture book
I invite you now to sit right down
and with me have a little look

Together we’ll turn the pages
enjoy each one by one
Lovely places we will visit
and have such wonderful fun

On Roman roads we’ll travel
the Tower of Pisa up we will climb
Learn about historical locations
without paying one silver dime

Happily we will smile
as we sail up and down the Nile
Time spent at the pyramids
will make it well worth our while

When we finish we’ll close the book
staying under the tree for shade
To eat cake and cookies
while sipping sweet lemonade

The Stroll

Stroll with me way back when I was seventeen
I loved doing The Stroll I was the dancing queen

I searched for a YouTube video showing a popular dance called The Stroll. When I saw the first couple strolling I was shocked because the girl looked exactly like me. Of course it wasn’t me. Of course it isn’t me.

This is the couple in the video

A girl friend and I are practicing The Stroll in a music shop where we worked. I am on the left.

More Than a Colleague

I’m more than your friend
I’m more than just your pal
For we sailed together on the Erie Canal

I’m more than your buddy
I’m more than just your pal
Time for you to use reason and rationale

I’m more than your crony
I’m more than just your pal
Time for you to clean your auditory canal

I’m more than your sidekick
I’m more than just your pal
We met one another at the OK Corral

I’m more than your colleague
I’m more than just your pal
For your information I am your best gal

Enjoy A Visit With Me

Don’t take a plane
Don’t take a train
Don’t rev up the engine
Of your ancient model T

Get out your old jump rope
And through my telescope
I’ll see you skipping along
To enjoy a visit with me

RDP SATURDAY: ENGINE

Entrance Denied

Whenever I visit and read your blog
I always feel a bit tongue-tied
I mean to leave a nice comment
But if I don’t I tried and tried

Blogs are written for fun and glee
With words that should never be snide
Of amusement I am never short
Enjoyment for you I try to provide

Leave me a comment short and sweet
And mirth and merriment I will supply
But if you’re curt or a little bit pert
Entrance to my blog I may deny

Early in the Morn

Yesterday my post was called Softly in the Morn. I offered a poem I had written to Midnight in Moscow. I admitted I was not happy with a recording I had made putting the poem/song together. I challenged readers to imagine the words with the song.

I awoke early this morn and read a comment from Sue W saying “Excellent Ladysighs. I tried to keep up with the music, but I was too slow!”

I was so very happy and thrilled that anybody actually tried! I felt I owed Sue a recording of me trying once again to put the poem to the tune Midnight in Moscow. So early this morn I recorded and re-recorded and tried to do the best I could. I chose the lamb picture as I can imagine Sue early in the morn tending the animals on her farm. So this is for Sue.

Softly in the morn I give a deep sweet sigh
My eyes are blue as the sky
I have become your bride
At alter side by side
Happy now our wedding knot is tied

I have became your bride
At alter side by side
Happy now our wedding knot is tied

Every night now you are near to me
With you I’m ever meant to be
Loving words I say
With you I’ll always stay
And from me you will never go away

Loving words I say
With you I’ll always stay
And from me you will never go away

In the dark I see the moonlight shine
Take my hand my heart is ever thine
I feel your strong arms
I breathe in all your charms
You keep me safe from the world’s harms

I feel your strong arms
I breathe in all your charms
You keep me safe from the world’s harms

Begin the Beguine

I’m with you once more under the stars
And down by the shore an orchestra’s playing
And even the palms seem to be swaying
When they begin the beguine

To live it again is past all endeavor
Except when that tune clutches my heart
And there we are swearing to love forever
And promising never never to part

What moments divine what rapture serene
Till clouds came along
To disperse the joy we had tasted

And now when I hear people curse
The chance that was wasted
I know but too well what they mean

So don’t let them begin the beguine
Let the love that was once a fire remain an ember
Let it sleep like the dead desire I only remember
When they begin the beguine

Oh yes let them begin the beguine
Make them play till the stars
That were there before return above you
Till you whisper to me once more darling I love you

And we suddenly know what heaven we’re in
When they begin the beguine
When they begin the beguine
