A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Tauren Warlock. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent.

23) Shadowed Runes

Zorkra’s Hood, Nightrune Robe, Nightrune Wristwraps, Brewer’s Black Belt, Chillwind Staff
The ensemble worn by this FelBloodtotem Warlock is impossible for a player character to replicate. Though the robe — which is worn by the Felskorn casters around the Gates of Valor in Stormheim — was, I believe, available once at the Trading Post, I didn’t acquire it at that time, and it hasn’t (yet) shown up again. The headdress is the Demon Hunter Order Hall piece; the belt is a Druid tier set piece.
So I’ve made an outfit that is inspired by, rather than a true mimickry, of this NPC outfit.

22) Merry Mayhem

Finely-Tailored Green Holiday Hat, Occult Peddler’s Pauldrons, Sinfall Venthyr Shawl, Marileth’s Assistant’s Vestments, Endowed Mitts, Verdant Patron’s Emblem, Miniature Winter Veil Tree, Anima-Infused Muck
An update of Blood Elf Warlock #88.

21) Keeper of Dark Rituals

Horns of the Left Hand Path, Sanctified Dark Coven Shoulderpads (10H/25N), Vileweave Robes, Unkindled Waxweave Mitts, Forgeweaver’s Journal Holster (LFR), Darktide Summoner Staff
I acquired this lookalike of the extravagant Manaforge Omega Warlock tier belt on a Transmogrification roll, and the combo with these shoulders and this robe came immediately to mind. Naturally, my Warlock needed to wear it right away!

Several years ago, I spent rather a lot of time farming Blackwing Lair and Molten Core. I never quite got around to wearing most of the items I acquired, though, and occasionally I wondered why I’d spent all that time collecting them.
When the 20th Anniversary Celebration arrived, at first, there were only a few of the HD T2 sets that I was sure I wanted to get. Since they could be purchased, and getting the tokens to do so turned out to be relatively easy to do, I eventually acquired all of them. Because, why not? And this time, I was going to wear them!

This series of posts began because I set myself a goal to document new Transmogrification outfits in a more timely fashion. As soon as I create a new outfit, I write it up in a draft post. As the weekend approaches, I start working on taking fashion screenshots, processing them, and updating “Things my [Class] Wears” posts. On Sunday — though not every Sunday — I publish the collection of my recent efforts. Then I begin the next “Sunday on the Promenade” draft post.

Occasionally, I have ideas for themed Transmogrification collections that take several months to completely assemble. Thus, some of these outfits might get re-posted at a later date as part of such a themed Transmogrification collection.

Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads: LFR, Normal, Heroic, Mythic

The BOE piece from the Sepulcher of the First Ones final raid of Shadowlands was the lookalike of the Warlock Tier shoulders — which I liked more than the Mage Tier shoulders, anyway. Fortunately, I had enough gold accumulated to acquire all four versions from the AH.

Provis Arcana

Dreamweave Circlet, Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads (LFR), Erudite Occultist’s Robes (LFR), Phoenix-Plume Gloves (LFR), Volatile Walkers (LFR), Enlightened Botanist’s Machete, Netherwing Sorcerer’s Charm

Fading Reality

Mag’hari Ritualist’s Horns/Dazzling Spectacles, Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads (N), Shawl of the Old Maid, Coldtouch Phantom Wraps, Choral Slippers, Handmaiden’s Longstaff

Riven Sepulcher

Cowl of the Ternion Glory (LFR), Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads (N), Robes of Riven Dreams (LFR), Belt of Arcane Storms (N), Sincollector’s Sandals, Lightning Rod

Marileth’s Merry Minion

Finely-Tailored Green Holiday Hat, Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads (H), Sinfall Venthyr Shawl, Marileth’s Assistant’s Vestments, Rotting Handwraps, Cloudscorcher Belt, Infernoweave Boots, Miniature Winter Veil Tree, Anima-Infused Muck

Trial of Style (March 2023): Crimson Creations

Red Pointy Hat, Devouring Pellicle Shoulderpads (M), Phoenix-Wing Cloak, Scarlet Sin’dorei Robes, Voidweave Cilice, Infernoweave Boots, Twisted Visage

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Tauren Warlock. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent.

20) Nightfallen Secrets

Nightfall Darkcaster’s Regalia with Plaguebringer’s Skullcap, Soulbreaker’s Burnished Mantle, Phylactery of the Dead Conniver, Soulbreaker’s Burnished Sash, Arakkoan Ritual Staff
Playing around with the Venthyr shoulders for other recent outfits reminded me that I’d had this combo idea that I hadn’t done yet.

19) Gilded Corruption

Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane Helm, Pauldrons of Vile Corruption, Death Fetish, Heroes’ Plagueheart Robe, Wild Gladiator’s Gloves of Prowess (H), Imbued Silkweave Cinch, Staff of Beasts
It’s been awhile since I revisted another of my favorite outfits that I made for my Blood Elf Warlock (this one is #83). Fortunately, the Shadowlands reps have been retrofitted to be Warband-wide by now. Just thinking of going back to Maldraxxus to farm Undying Army rep to Exalted all over again with Keshara so I could use the Death Fetish… I. Just. Can’t. If the reputation hadn’t been fixed, she’d have had wear this ensemble with the Phylactery of the Dead Conniver

which doesn’t look quite as magnificent.

18) Nightfall Nemesis

Sirensong Headdress, Nightfall Darkcaster’s Mantle, Nightfall Curseblade’s Cape, Nemesis Robes, Eternal Nemesis Gloves, Nightfall Darkcaster’s Cord, Staff of the Four Golden Coins
Combining the Nightfall version of the Arathi shoulders and belt with the Nemesis robe seemed like a thing that just ought to be done. Somewhat to my surprise, I liked it better with the original robe than with the HD version. The HD gloves layer over the flat sleeves of the HD robe but under the belled sleeves of the original robe; the original gloves layer over both robes. So for this outfit, the look I liked best was the HD gloves with the original robe. Although the metallic trims clash rather, I also couldn’t resist including the purple version of the Kul Tiran hood, since its purple cloth does coordinate so very nicely.

17) Fel Plumage

Horns of the Left Hand Path, Fireplume Plumage, Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane Tunic, Fireplume Flarewraps, Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane Sash, Fireplume Coverts, Darkmoon Harlequin’s Shoes, Inferna Rod
I wondered how the Darkmoon Harlequin’s boots might look with the Fireplume ensemble. Once I got them on, the kit wanted a darker belt, too. I think these boots have greater mix-and-match potential for Tauren than for races for whom the shoe part shows.

16) Love Blazes Brightly

Love Witch’s Hat, Fireplume Plumage, Dreadlord’s Shadowsbane Tunic, Fireplume Claws, Love Witch’s Sash, Fireplume Coverts, Love Witch’s Boots, Love Witch’s Rosy Stave
I thought the purple Dreadlord chestpiece might work nicely with the Fireplume set. I kinda like the Love Witch’s boots better with the Fireplume pants than the actual Fireplume boots.
See also Monk #82 and Warrior #87.

15) Voidglare

Devotee’s Discarded Headdress (LFR), Voidheart Mantle, Bile-Soaked Harness (LFR), Crunchy Intruder’s Wristband (LFR), Cord of Blossoming Petals (H), Fearspeaker’s Warstaff
I thought this Nerub-ar Palace Warlock Tier robe, which takes its inspiration from the clothing of Mother Shahraz, was rather pretty, so I kept farming the first wing of Nerub-ar Palace after I’d completed the Mage Tier set until I got the lookalike version.

14) Eternal Nemesis II

Eternal Nemesis Raiment with Fel-Proof Goggles, Eternal Nemesis Blouse, and Staff of Beasts
The T2 sets that originally came with robes have both a robe and a tunic chestpiece option in the HD T2 sets from the 20th Anniversary Celebration. Of those, I only really like the tunic-and-trousers versions for two of them.

13) Eternal Nemesis

Eternal Nemesis Raiment with Horns of the Left Hand Path and Inferna Rod
The WoW’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2024 brought high-definition updates of the beloved Classic Tier 2 sets. These could be acquired with event-specific currency that was easy to get, so presently I acquired them all.

12) Namesake

Crown of Power, Mantle of the Mind Flayer, Dreadweave Robe, Gloves of Arcane Acuity, Inferno-Flame Staff
Keshara takes her name from the first canon Tauren Warlock, a Highmountain star enemy.
Since the process of making Warband reputation backwards-compatible hasn’t been extended to Burning Crusade yet, Keshara had to get Thrallmar to Honored for herself to be able to purchase the robe. With the Anniversary Celebration buff active, one evening of running through the Hellfire Citadel dungeon complex on Heroic and stomping Magtheridon in his lair was sufficient.

11) Poison Princess

Eternal Pink Rose, Doomcaller’s Mantle, Wings of the Tourmaline Monarch, Doomcaller’s Robes, Dark Storm Gauntlets, Summer Soother’s Sash, Pillar of Ferocity
All Monarch butterflies are toxic; the pink ones, even more so.
Preparing a post about the Mage set from Anh’Qiraj primed me to recall the Warlock set from the same source, and to think of how beautiful it would look with the latest coloration of the butterfly wings from the Trading Post.

And that makes lucky number THIRTEEN Dragonflight level 70s!
Keshara had blown past her original goal of level 60 by the time she completed the Horde-side Landfall and Isle of Thunder Campaigns, and I was having a ton of fun playing Destro Lock, so I figured I might as well keep going.

I also kinda wanted to finish filling out her Talent trees, especially the Destro spec tree, with all the possible points. This is certainly an idiosyncratic and decidedly non-optimal Talent selection, as I’ve selected Talents that increase the raw power of Fire spells and avoided Talents that have to do with demons as much as possible. I’m playing a character concept of “Fire Mage, Only Much MUCH Crazier” — not interested in making deals with demons, just in mixing in a little Chaos or Shadow to give extra oomph to Fire. I am not enthused about either of the Hero Talent trees for Destro Lock come War Within, so now that Keshara is at level 70, that’s likely where she’ll stay.

Since the visual update to Warlock fire spells to use the Dragonflight Shadowflame effect, I’ve been satisfied with my Destro Lock having mostly Shadowflame orange spells — Immolate, Incinerate, Conflagrate, Rain of Fire, Cataclysm — plus a couple of Fel green spells — Chaos Bolt, Channel Demonfire. Although I’ve got a Sealed Tome of the Lost Legion squirreled away for her, I don’t feel like I need to do the Green Fire questline with her once she transitions into the regular game.

Over the weekend, I took Kaelyla out to Argus and did the Seeing Red questline. Lore-wise, it touched on some intriguing ideas, but was surprisingly short and rather too shallow.

Now my Draenei Mage can have properly red ringlets!

Eredar Sorcerer

Vileweave Amice, Forward Observer’s Camouflage Cloak, Vileweave Robes, Cord of Cacophonous Cawing (LFR), Fractured Soulgem Staff
Warlocks as a playable Class for Draenei and the Man’ari Eredar customizations seem like two changes for the Draenei race that were made to go together. I’ve seen at least one red Draenei Warlock bouncing around Valdrakken.

Here are some other staffs I liked with this outfit:

Ancient Soulpriest’s Staff

Inferna Rod, Edict of Argus (M)

Ebonchill (hidden, tint 3), Darktide Summoner Staff, Scar-Shell’s Scintillating Staff

To be completely honest, the Ancient Soulpriest’s Staff was what I really wanted out of doing “Seeing Red” 😛

Coming this fall to the Trading Post: Class-specific armor and weapon sets!

The catch, though, is that the armor sets are 450 Tender each, and the weapon sets are 500 Tender each, and one can only gain 1000 Tender each month. So, one armor set and one weapon set with 50 to bank for the next month, two armor sets with 100 to bank for the next month, or two weapon sets with nothing left over to bank for the next month.

Let’s take a look at the offerings. What do I want to get NAO, what do I want to hope comes around again next fall, and what’s a no-thanks?

Overall, stylistically a lot of the armor sets have resonances with previous favorite armor sets, and a lot of the weapon sets have resonances with Artifact weapon designs.

September
Paladin: armor set coloration is definitely chosen to coordinate with the Classic Judgment set, while the weapon set coloration is very Draenei (or the Burning Crusade recolor of the Judgment set); I’d go for both if my Paladin were a higher priority character in my roster, but since I want to save Tender for other stuff in later months, they will have to be a pass for now.
Priest: armor set is a definite NOPE since I don’t lean Shadow/Void aesthetic at all, from the weapon set the mace and book are nice but the staff is a nope; armor set is a hard pass, weapon set is a maybe later.
Rogue: armor set is a maybe later, cuz those shoulders would definitely look cool on my Pirate Ninja Tauren Outlaw; weapon set is a nope cuz my Rogues go for sleek instead of spikes on their blades.

October
Death Knight: nope, nope; the shoulders on the armor set are maybe okay but the rest is still outside how far I’m willing to go even when I do lean into the DK aesthetic for a DK Mog.
Demon Hunter: nope, nope; just not my aesthetic at all
Druid: armor set is a maybe later; weapon set is a YES PLEASE. Well, actually, I think the dagger looks kinda silly with the vines and leaves wrapped around it, but the two staves look awesome.

November
Warlock: nope, nope; just not my thing even when I do lean into the Warlock aesthetic for a Warlock Mog.
Monk: armor set is a maybe later; weapon set is a YES PLEASE. So pretty that I must have even though my Monk is a lower priority character on my roster right now. I love that the Brewmaster staff has both a teapot and a keg!
Warrior: like the Paladin armor set, the Warrior armor set is a maybe later; from the weapon set, I like the shield and the 1H sword but the 2H sword is not my jam, and it is also a maybe later.

December
Evoker: actually, I rather like both of these sets, but since I am not grooving with my Evoker — I do like to get each new class to the max level for the expansion in which it is introduced during that expansion, but that will probably not happen for my Evoker until the end-of-expansion lull — I would rather spend my Tenders on the other sets available this month.
Hunter: like the Evoker, these are both decent sets but I have to tag them as maybe later due to them sharing the month with two of my Big Three classes.
Mage: YES, YES; I think I might even have to wear the hat of this set to get the full three floating orbs look (a la Kael’thas), I’m not actually all that keen on the sword from the weapon set but the staff and off-hand are great.
Shaman: YES, YES; I can totally see Kamalia wearing that armor, and I really just want the shield from the weapon set because it has a great Shu’halo sort of look.

So, I’ll need to have 500 Tender to spend in October and 500 Tender to spend in November and somehow still have 1900 Tender available to spend by the end of December. Oh, and let’s not forget about the Medivh-inspired Guardian items that will be coming to the Trading Post in the autumn months, as well! That whole set will cost 975 Tender. I’ve been spending most of my Tender each month and putting an item on Freeze to purchase the next month — and there’s at least one purchase that I wouldn’t have made if these class sets had been officially announced earlier. I am going to have to be more picky with my spending for the rest of the year.

A collection of Transmogrification Kits actually worn in-game by my Tauren Warlock. Outfits are listed from most recent to least recent. Items that are no longer obtainable are marked with an asterisk (*).

10) Temptation’s Call

Gilnean Noble’s Top Hat/Crown of Eternal Memorial, Wings of Temptation’s Call, Robes of Arugal/Infernoweave Robe, Chains of Temptation’s Call, Flayer of Temptation’s Call, Sinheart Spell Foci
I wasn’t planning to spend Bronze to acquire the Warlock Class ensemble and arsenal from Pandaria Remix, but since Keshara got them for free for doing the Horde-side Landfall and Isle of Thunder Campaigns, I figured I might as well make her at least one outfit with them.

9) Fire Lord

Jewel of the Firelord, Pauldrons of the Fire Lord, Obsidian Wings of Awakening, Black Embersilk Gown, Spire of Scarlet Pain (N)
KNEEL BEFORE ME, INSECTS!!!

Also looks pretty good with the Shoulders of Mercy Killing (25H) or the Mantle of Roaring Flames (H), if you didn’t happen to pick up the Fire Lord item from the Trading Post.
I was getting bothered by Keshara not being in the same level bracket as the rest of my Tauren, so I rerolled her as a Timerunner.

8) Smoldering Cacophony

Crown of Power, Shoulders of Mercy Killing (25H), Sanguine Robe, Cord of Cacophonous Cawing (N), Firestorm Greatstaff
Why yes, I did buy the Normal Mode Throne of Thunder Warlock Tier set during Pandaria Remix just so that I could use its belt in a palette swap of another of my favorite outfits that I made for my Blood Elf Warlock (see #30 and #55).

7) Nemesis

Horns of the Left Hand Path, Hatefury Mantle, Nemesis Robes, Scepter of Sargeras (default, tint 1)
Keshara figured she ought to wear this while the Spring Gatherer was in town. Recently, Wowhead reported finding a full set of Nemesis gear in the recolor worn by the Spring Gatherer in PTR datamining, but who knows when or how that might ever make it into the live game.
See also Blood Elf Warlock #54.

6) Dominion of Fire

Power Generator Hood (H)/Buc-Zakai Burning Hood, Mantle of Dissemination, Vermillion Robes of the Dominant, Amber Filigreed Doublet, Wraps of the San’layn, Wild Gladiator’s Cord of Cruelty (H), Scepter of Sargeras (upgraded, tint 4)
Update of a kit I originally made for my Blood Elf Warlock (#69). Much of my Tauren Warlock’s wardrobe will be a refresh of my favorite combos from my Blood Elf Warlock’s wardrobe…
As well as it being more Warlock-ish than Mage-ish to my eye, I’ve never really liked this this Bastion of Twilight/Blackwing Descent Mage tier lookalike hood because it has always made me think that the unfortunate person wearing it was suffering from goiter.
The alternate hat is a lookalike of the Siege of Orgrimmar Priest tier hat. I like how it brings in more of the dark metallic tones from the bottom of the robe up into the top of the ensemble.

5) Nightmare Fueled

Wizardweave Turban, Doomcaller’s Mantle, Frontline Necromancer’s Vestments, Pigskin Gloves, Gem-Inlaid Velvet Cinch, Talon Guard Staff
I picked up the red and black recolor of the Korthia Necrolords set because I kinda wanted to someday make a Warlock kit with the robe.

4) Very Much Alive Conniver

Wicked Witch’s Hat, Soulbreaker’s Burnished Mantle, Phylactery of the Dead Conniver, Nathrezim Acolyte’s Robes, Warlock’s Mitts, Soulbreaker’s Burnished Sash, Stormbender Rod
Kaelyla was trying out options for an outfit built around this shoulders, backpiece, and robe combo in the Dressing Room when Keshara knocked on the door and said — Hey, that’s MY outfit.

3) Bloodfire

Jewel of the Firelord, Shoulders of Mercy Killing (25H), Watcher’s Tunic, Shadewarped Sash, Plaguebringer’s Stained Pants (25H), Bloodfire Greatstaff
A variation on an outfit originally created for my Blood Elf Warlock (see Warlock #35) with which I was particularly well-pleased.

2) Shadowflame Acolyte

Shadra Silk Headband, Shadra Silk Mantle, Acolyte’s Robe, Squire’s Shirt*, Magiskull Cuffs, Apothecary’s Waistband, Staff of Fiery Fate
This was the Classic level 1 Troll & Orc Warlock robe.
I was rather delighted to discover a graphical update not mentioned in the 10.1.5 patch notes — or anywhere else that I’ve noticed, though I’ll grant that I may have missed coverage of it when Patch 10.1 went live — a Destruction Warlock’s pure fire spells (Immolate, Incinerate, Rain of Fire) now use the orange-magenta-violet Shadowflame effect introduced in Patch 10.1!

I’ll probably still get green fire for her eventually, but in the meantime, I appreciate the further differentiation of Destro Lock from Fire Mage
Mua ha ha HA HA!!! XD

Classic level 1 Troll Priest, Mage, and Warlock robes.

1) Exile’s Reach Rescue Mission

Horde Expeditionary Cloth Armor with Horns of the Left Hand Path and Expeditionary Staff
Camp Narache? Too boring. Keshara started out in Exile’s Reach. With a voidwalker to tank, health funnel, a healthstone, and drain life, she handily soloed the elite bear for the quest that rewards the shoulders for this set — thus allowing me to complete it at last.
Under the moody fringe, her eyes are yellow.

Meet my Tauren Warlock!

There was not the crowd of new Warlocks I expected to find in Exile’s Reach on Tuesday night, but as a Warlock with a Voidwalker to tank for her, health funnel, and healthstone and/or drain life, she was able to take on that elite bear with ease and get the shoulders for the Expeditionary Cloth set.

Prompted by the Valdrakken Weekly, I did a few Time Rifts. They are moderately entertaining chaotic scrambles of mindlessly smashing things. I haven’t been to Eon’s Fringe yet; I decided that Kaelinda needed to do the Thaldraszus leveling questline first. At my level of play, I’ll have to wait until Patch 10.1.7 splits the new Mythic mega-dungeon Dawn of the Infinites into two Heroics to finish the Bronze Dragonflight storyline, anyway.

I would like to eventually collect all of the cloth Anachronistic set. I’d also like to eventually get the Rift-Mender’s Vestments accessory set from Soridormi reputation. Although I’m not much impressed with the Decorous Garments set as a whole, I’ll probably pick it up for the mix-and-match possibilities of the gloves, boots, and shoulders. I’m not going to go out and farm that stuff, however, until I’m done in Zaralek Cavern — I’m at Renown 13 with Loamm and would like to get to Renown 16 for the Ornate Black Dragon Labwear accessories.

With the Zaralek Cavern Campaign set representing the Black Dragonflight, the Patch 10.1 world drops set representing the Blue Dragonflight, the Fyrakk Assaults set representing the Red Dragonflight, and now the Time Rifts set representing the Bronze Dragonflight, I can’t help but wonder if the Dreamsurges coming in Patch 10.1.7 will finish out the collection with a Green Dragonflight coloration of that armor style.

Given that I once thought that “Tauren” and “Warlock” should never go together, I have been feeling unreasonably excited about creating a Tauren Warlock in Patch 10.1.5.

As I’ve thought about it, I’ve come to the conclusion that this anticipation is largely due to what I am calling “the completion effect”. With a Tauren Warlock, I will at last have all the classes* as my favorite race. And if I roll her on Patch Day and play her through Exile’s Reach (because she’s too gnarly to do the boring old Mulgore starter sequence, naturally), there ought to be enough other new Warlocks of assorted races around for me to be able to get in on a kill of Killclaw the Terrible, the group quest that rewards the shoulderpads for the Expeditionary Cloth set**. It’s completing those two sets — the alt set and the Mog set — that I’m actually feeling so excited about.

~*~*~
* Well, except for Demon Hunter and Evoker, of course. I am okay, though, with Demon Hunter remaining restricted to Night Elves and Blood Elves, and with Evoker remaining restricted to Dracthyr. If the class selection for Dracthyr ever opens up, however, you can bet I’ll be adding a Dracthyr Mage to the Minor Mages roster!
** For all the dozens of toons he’s rolled and played through Exile’s Reach and then deleted because there are only a handful of character slots on my account that he can use, my 6 year old has not managed to complete that quest, either.
