Necessary Momentum

Redux

we don’t want a mixing up of things
a hard no to adding ripples
on our human pond
harshly rejecting this thing called change

but we recognize the inevitable death
of our boring routine
that which
provides us some sanity

life is so cushy when it’s calm
but only moments
where no connection exists
to things which make us dare to live

a disturbance in our equilibrium
can change us for the better
if we let it
if we learn from it

Evil Revealed

My mind screamed, ‘That’s what was a secret!’ as one flash after another went off. The reporters were having a field day with the list of names from the Church of Epstein’s files. A battle would ensue since the cult just found out that from cradle to eventual grave, their idol was a fraud. I swear I could feel the animal-skins-made-into-a-hat-with-horns guy cringe as he realized he and all the rest were fringe lunatics. They would stir with rage because of this illusion. They made themselves dragons for him, and only got a glimpse in a jail cell for it.

SenHai Saturday #14

Here is this week’s image to get your creative juices flowing!

This image features a lovely greenish bokeh effect in the background. The central part of the image appears to be the profile of a leaf glistening with tiny droplets of water, with a rather large, precarious water drop hanging onto the end of it.

Please create one senryu and one haiku to accompany this image prompt. Remember that a traditional haiku describes nature or a season, while a senryu focuses on human nature and emotions.

Then, provide a link in the comments below or ping back to this post on your blog.

Here is a wrap-up of last week’s prompt. I appreciate each of you for sharing your thoughts!

Developing

start as a blank slate
you have the time to appear
become your best self

Steps You Live By

chaos ensues
the journey following
paved with twists and turns
clarity hard won
through merciless introspection

*One note – Emotions, relationships, and life in general tend to follow this pattern. At least, that has been my experience. How about you?

Social Possibilities – AVAILABLE NOW!!

I’ve been waiting for this one, so I’m happy to finally announce that Lisa and her team have produced another wonderful anthology!!

This is a timely publication as we are all experiencing “a time of heightened uncertainty and distress.” Editor Zaneta V. Johns addresses the need for the “betterment of our global community.” These pieces, I’m sure, will leave us feeling more hopeful about our future.

Can’t wait to read the works of all the talented poets who grace these pages!

You can purchase it directly from the Prolific Pulse website at a discounted rate or get it from Amazon.

Lessons Learned

It all hurts…

other’s cruel intentions
life’s accidental interventions
immature decisions
wounding by self-infliction
external forces not caring about consequences

But it gave me…

an understanding of people and boundaries
resilience in the face of catastrophe and tragedy
consequences and wisdom
pain to overcome
the determination to fight injustice

Life is hard but living is knowing how to keep the goodness thriving in it.

The Climb

Unprepared

I had only been back two days from my mission when the fighting on Earth began. True to their word, the terrorists had promised disruption; their plans were successful. They say staying positive is the best medicine, so I tried to laugh and smile my way through the devastation. But I couldn’t help clenching my fists tightly instead.

Agitated, I took a walk around the space station, watching one fire after another erupt on my planet. My face, dripping rivers of tears; my body, feeling a psychological episode start brewing. It was about to rip me apart, piece by piece.
