Bon Voyage To Me & SenHai Saturday #15 Wrap-up!

Susi Bocks

It’s that time again. :) During August, I will not be posting to my blog at all, nor will I be reading the August posts of the blogs I follow. And I will take a break from social media. I’ve found this does so much for my mental health every year. What I will do is catch up on reading the books on my Kindle and finish any of the July posts from the blogs I follow.

I look forward to immersing myself in The Short of It Submissions. As I was last year, I’m very pleased with the response from both previous poets featured and new ones who have chosen to participate. It’s not even the end of July, and I’ve received close to fifty percent of what I’ll need to feature next year! WOW! I will be forever happy about starting The Short of It! You are all such a wonderful addition to my world! As was the case last year, I will likely have to close the submission cycle early again if the response has been this well-received already. Submit your work as soon as possible, before the deadline closes.

Additionally, this year, I will be turning off all commenting, even on older posts. When I return on September 1, I will turn them back on! Feel free to reach out via email (it’s on my contact page), if you need to get a hold of me.

See you after my much-needed rest! :)

Here is last week’s prompt. I hope you enjoy these wonderful contributions to SenHai Saturday as much as I did!

That Easy Feeling

love is a calm feeling
speckled with acceptance and joy
bringing to us
a hope eternal

in the presence of peace
the air feels uncomplicated
and an internal burgeoning smile
lifts your entire being

Staved Off

Escaping Reality

in awe, i tread lightly
among the tall and stable structures
majestic yet unusual
a testament to man’s creativity
as i imagine ancient worlds
these ruins transport me to another life

The Entitled

It was to be a global affair, attended by people of prestige who sought to undertake and finesse the best negotiation for world survival. Their goal was to foster programs that benefit those who lack the basics and help them manage in their challenging environment. This meeting would contain the keys to aid those in need and reward those who sought only the best for others. There were people from all segments of government, from the forestry department to infrastructure planning.

Of course, the orgy featuring a wide variety of pleasures would take place first to satisfy their depraved desires.

**NOTE – I used a random word generator this time.

SenHai Saturday #15

Here is this week’s image to get your creative juices flowing!

This week’s image offers a glimpse of a small section of beach, with waves crashing onto the sand. The water touching the tan sand is a foamy white, and the water is primarily deep blue, with a lighter blue hue throughout.

Please create one senryu and one haiku to accompany this image prompt. Remember that a traditional haiku describes nature or a season, while a senryu focuses on human nature and emotions.

Then, provide a link in the comments below or ping back to this post on your blog.

**NOTE – The wrap-up for this will post on Thursday, July 31, as I’m taking the month of August off for some well-deserved rest and relaxation! And yes, there will be a beach involved. That’s the reason for this week’s image. ;)

Here is a wrap-up of last week’s prompt. I appreciate each of you for sharing your thoughts! See you in September!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost – An eternal moment

Sunbeam

let the light in, tribe
claim joy from the suffering
strive and obtain
liberation and freedom
love is what we should always live for

Every time I’m on TikTok and Hugo’s videos appear, I develop a smile that widens my face, and a warmth spreads through my chesticle cavity. Follow and enjoy! What have you got to lose? Well, only the things weighing you down!

Auf!

Trust The Process

let down your guard, friend
a hardened exterior
keeps the truth at bay

Safe Haven

the external cold
attempts to cross boundaries
internal warmth saves

**NOTE – I feel like I’ve done a SenHai Saturday poem in one, not two.

Necessary Momentum

Redux

we don’t want a mixing up of things
a hard no to adding ripples
on our human pond
harshly rejecting this thing called change

but we recognize the inevitable death
of our boring routine
that which
provides us some sanity

life is so cushy when it’s calm
but only moments
where no connection exists
to things which make us dare to live

a disturbance in our equilibrium
can change us for the better
if we let it
if we learn from it
