2026 IM ABLE
BASH Fundraiser
Celebrate Ability. Strengthen Community. Redefine Possible.
About the BASH
Everyone deserves the chance to move, play, and feel the strength of being active. Yet for many people with disabilities, that opportunity is blocked by physical, financial, and social barriers. The IM ABLE community exists to change that. Together, we make sure adaptive athletes aren’t just included, but are empowered to accomplish their goals, set new ones, and thrive.
The annual IM ABLE BASH is both a celebration and our largest fundraiser, fueling our mission year-round. Your participation helps remove obstacles that prevent people with physical, cognitive, and behavioral challenges from living active lives. Every dollar raised helps IM ABLE provide adaptive equipment grants and programs that bring people of all abilities together through movement.
The 2026 BASH will be held on the evening of Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Alvernia University’s Plex facility, a vibrant space filled with energy, action, and connection. Guests will enjoy great food, live music from Brass Pocket Band, and the opportunity to participate in exciting adaptive sports competitions including the wheelchair rugby, adaptive tennis, and handcycle time trials.
Every guest is welcome to register for free and join the celebration. Your attendance, along with any donations or sponsorships, helps expand IM ABLE’s adaptive programs, provides equipment to those who need it, and creates more opportunities for people of all abilities to move, connect, and thrive.
Sponsors & Partners
We are grateful for the generous support of our sponsors, whose commitment makes the IM ABLE BASH – and programming throughout the year – possible. Their partnership helps us expand adaptive programs, provide equipment grants, and create unforgettable experiences for athletes of all abilities.
You can be part of this impact too. Sponsoring the BASH is a powerful way to show your support for the community, gain year-round visibility, and join a network of champions dedicated to empowering individuals of all abilities.
Again this year – individuals can sponsor a table for eight guests for $1,000 which includes early entry into the VIP hour, and recognition on the event website (see below for examples) and during the event.
Individual and corporate event sponsorship information can be found on our Sponsor an Event page or by reaching out to Meredith Sossman, IM ABLE’s Development Director, meredith@imablefoundation.org.

Kevin Moore
2026 Chris Kaag Community Motivator of the Year
Kevin’s decades of dedication to the IM ABLE mission have been extraordinary. From early participation in the Got the Nerve? Triathlon and the RU ABLE? Duathlon, to mentoring adaptive athletes and leading training sessions for both first-time and experienced participants, his commitment to helping others move has made a lasting impact. He has even personally overseen the rehabilitation of six push-rim wheelchairs in his garage. In addition to his hands-on work, Kevin leverages his professional role as an advocate and advisor, amplifying the mission’s reach and impact.
Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge
This year’s BASH honors Kevin Moore as Motivator of the Year, a longtime supporter and leader within the IM ABLE community whose dedication to inclusive sport has inspired countless athletes. In his honor, we’re inviting everyone to take part in the Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge: a friendly adaptive sports experience featuring adaptive tennis in partnership with the USTA Middle States, wheelchair rugby, and handcycle time trials using the same adaptive bikes IM ABLE provides year-round to help individuals with disabilities experience the wide variety of equipment available today.
Grab a team (we can match you with some other friendly competitors), cheer from the sidelines, or just soak in the energy as we celebrate movement and community together.
Can you give me more details about the Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge?
The Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge is a friendly, adaptive sports challenge. Groups of six will make their way through three sports stations. All abilities are welcome!
How do I register for the Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge?
When you sign up for the BASH, there will be a question that asks if you’re interested. We’ll reach out closer to the event to communicate details. You can sign up with your own group of friends or ask IM ABLE to match you with a team.
Is this a competition?
While the Moore Sports for All Fitness Challenge was originally intended to be a competition, we have restructured it based on the number of participants interested and the availability of partners.
Rodger Krause
2026 Chris Kaag Adaptive Motivator of the Year
Rodger was a competitive triathlete before he was struck by a vehicle while cycling, resulting in a spinal cord injury. After borrowing a push-rim wheelchair from IM ABLE founder Chris Kaag, he began training for paratriathlons. At 64 years old, Rodger became the oldest athlete ever to compete in the handcycle division at the Ironman World Championship. He continues to redefine what’s possible and inspire everyone around him.
Frequently Asked Questions
It’s a free fundraiser? Really?
Yes!*
*well, sort of. It is free to register. The BASH is a fundraiser, IM ABLE’s largest of the year. While you’re enjoying the food, drinks, live music, and meeting athletes of all abilities who have been empowered by IM ABLE, we hope you will choose to donate.
Did you know that a lot of IM ABLE’s programming is free-of-charge to participate? BUT it’s not free-to-provide. Your donations and participation in IM ABLE’s endurance events allow us to provide access and opportunities to people of all abilities and income levels.
Where is the BASH?
Alvernia University Plex (465 St Bernardine St, Reading, PA 19607)
What is the BASH?
The BASH is IM ABLE Foundation’s annual fundraising event. There are appetizers, dinner, dancing, a program to show you the incredible things you’ve made possible over the last year. And, yes, of course, we’ll be asking for your support to help even more people in this upcoming year. And then back to the dancing.
What time does the BASH start/end?
Please note – timing is estimated and will be clearly communicated as the event gets closer:
- Rodger Krause
- Kevin Moore
- Jon Hayashi — Tennis Wheelchair
- Steve McLaughlin — Handcycle
- Leah Barrett — Wheelchair, Freewheel, Trainer, Home Gym Equipment
Where should we park?
There is free parking available in the lots surrounding the Plex and along St. Bernardine Street. We’re expecting a great turnout, so please consider carpooling if you can. Do not park in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters’ Villa Lot, as unauthorized vehicles parked there will be towed.
Is the Alvernia Plex facility accessible?
The Plex is fully accessible for guests with disabilities. There are reserved parking spots near the front entrance. Please let the parking attendants know and they will direct you to these spots upon arrival. The facility also has an elevator for easy access to all levels.
All areas used for the BASH, including adaptive sports stations, dining, and the program space, are wheelchair accessible.
Contact for accessibility assistance: If you have specific accessibility needs or require assistance during the event, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience: info@imablefoundation.org.
What’s the dress code?
Chris Kaag, Founder and Chief Motivational Officer says, “I usually wear a bow tie, dress shirt, suspenders but jeans, definitely jeans.”
We aren’t fashion people. We’re adaptive sports people. So we consulted the internet for this one. Lindsey Love is a senior brand stylist and describes it as “dressy casual” or “smart casual.” “Wear what makes you feel fabulous,” she says. The event is St. Patrick’s Day theme so there’ll be some green but, most importantly, come prepared to dance the night away to Brass Pocket’s rockin’ tunes.
Also, we’ll bring a whole bunch of adaptive equipment and encourage you to try it out so wear something that will allow you to get moving.
No Excuses, Just Move!
Is the BASH kid friendly?
This is a party (with a purpose) so it’s probably a good night to call the babysitter. IM FITTERS are welcome. In fact, we’ll be disappointed if they aren’t there!
