Mediating the Stories of the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds

Press Kits

This page contains detailed listings of items in the press kits for each of the films in the Harry Potter series. Please note that press packages for the same movie might differ, depending on where and when it was compiled, and for what purpose. Also, the US and International versions of Digital (CD-ROM) Press Kits may also differ somewhat. I am listing what elements are included in the versions I have (or previously had) in my collection. On rare occasions, I may list additional items that were available in other versions of the press kits prepared for other events or purposes.

First is a compilation image of all the press kits I currently have, and then I will add detailed lists of contents. Kits from The Philosopher’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets are both paper kits in 9-inch x 12-inch two-pocket folder. (Chamber of Secrets also has a CD-ROM that was packaged with some of the paper press kits.) The rest are all digital press kits in DVD-style cases.

Press Kits for Harry Potter Theatrical Film Releases

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s [Philosopher’s] Stone

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone ~ Press Kit #1 of 2

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone ~ Press Kit #2 of 2

The folder, mailing envelope, and production notes I have used the UK title of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” The remainder of the items come from press kits that use the US title version “… Sorcerer’s Stone.”

  • 9″ x 12″ dual-pocket folder with key art on the front and key credits and copyright information on the back.
  • 9.5″ x 12.5″ mailing envelope with Harry Potter title treatment in black print and the Warner Brothers logo in blue print.
  • Final Production Information (42 pages).
  • Credits (27 pages, unnumbered).
  • 12 glossy black-and-white photographs; with one, two, or three images on an 8″ x 10″ photo sheet. Their caption and copyright information section indicates that Peter Mountain was the photographer for almost all of these publicity photos.
  • 21 color transparencies (slides). Each slide frame front is numbered with “Kit-1” to “Kit-21,” along with Warner Bros. copyright information, the film title, and note that the image was taken by photographer Peter Mountain. Each slide frame reverse is printed with copyright information and notices, along with the Burbank and New York mailing addresses of Warner Brothers. The set of color images in the slides is basically the same as shown in the black-and-white photographs. There was no caption list included for the slides.
