1526: Shawn DeRemer

Shawn DeRemer

Shawn DeRemer is the president of an anesthesia company in Oregon and the husband of Trump Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer. He is currently banned from her workplace due to allegations that he has sexually assaulted women who work there.

One woman filed a police complaint of unwanted sexual contact and another woman has alleged that he sexually assaulted her. The allegations were surfaced during an investigation of Secretary Chavez-DeRemer’s behavior with her own staff.

The US Attorney’s Office determined there was “no evidence of a crime.” The US Attorney for DC is Jeanine Pirro

One of the incidents was captured on a security camera. DeRemer is seen given a woman an unusually long, extended embrace. I think most women will perceive that differently than most men.

1385: Jerry Cummings

Gerald “Jerry” Cummings

Gerald “Jerry” Cummings was elected Chair of the Oregon Republican Party in March 2025. A pastor at Haven Church in St. Helens, Oregon, he has long been active in the Oregon Republican Party before his election as Chair. However, he resigned soon after his election when it was revealed he groomed a teenager until she was old enough to get married and kept her under his control by threatening to rape teenagers and through domestic violence and marital rape.

The Oregon Journalism Project reviewed court records of his divorce and custody cases as well as lawsuits from creditors, all suggesting he is not someone to get the party on sound financial footing or to reach out to the broader community in Oregon.

According to the divorce records, his ex-wife was sixteen when they met. He was twenty-six and took her to hotels and had sex with her. Sixteen was the age of consent in Oregon in 2000. Throughout their marriage he told her about his fantasies of raping young women and promised not to act on them so long as she did as he asked. His wife claimed he handcuffed her and beat her with hangers and with a whip. He coerced her compliance by naming the teens he would assault. His ex-wife got a restraining order and custody of the children, but he was never arrested nor charged with the crimes.

He denies everything though he admits he was a terrible husband.

Married Christian School Coaches Accused of - Daily Beast, The - March 4, 2024 - page 1
March 4, 2024 | Daily Beast, The
The former principal of a religious school in Oregon and his teacher wife have been charged with sexually
abusing a 14-year-old girl on the basketball team they coached.
Now police say they believe there may be other victims, and are asking anyone with information to come
forward.
David Alan Wakefield, 60, and Rachel Jean Wakefield, 54, were co-coaches at Damascus Christian School when
the girl was allegedly abused between 2013 and 2017.
They were arrested after a grand jury indicted David on 20 counts of sex abuse and his wife on 11 counts—
with the pair later being released on $100,000 bail. Their attorneys said in a statement that the Wakefields
"have been valued members of the Clackamas County Community for their entire lives. They deny the
charges and look forward to the day when the truth comes out."
Founded in 1975, Damascus Christian has about 365 students in grades kindergarten through 12th and uses
a Bible-based curriculum.
In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the school said it was "heartbroken" to learn of the allegations.
"Although this couple have not been connected to the church or school for some time, Damascus Community
Church and Christian School still take these reports very seriously and the safety of our students and staff is
a top priority. If requested, we will fully cooperate with law enforcement and the courts during this process,"
it said. "Please join us in praying for all those involved in this situation."
The Wakefields have been in the headlines before for less scandalous reasons. In 2017, their college-age
daughter, Ana, was nearly killed in a collision with a drunk driver, and her recovery became the basis of a
documentary called Fight Like Ana.
David Wakefield has surrendered his education credentials. The court gave him permission to travel to Florida
for his real estate business while awaiting trial, which has been set for April.
