
Richard Lynn Upright was a teacher at Vandalia Christian School until his arrest for creating child sexual abuse material using AI and photo editing tools. He was charged with ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received seven tips from Google that Upright had uploaded child sexual abuse images to his Google Drive. They notified authorities who identified Upright and arrested him on February 27, 2026.
Authorities state they found 111 child sexual abuse material images on his devices. They further state that Upright took pictures of students and then used AI and photo editing softward to put students’ faces on sexually explicit images.
Bail is set at $750,000.
