## What A `track_memory_allocations` task that counts heap allocations for **`rolldown_sourcemap`**'s per-chunk machinery and records them in a committed snapshot. The check runs as a step in the existing **Rust Validation** CI job (`cargo allocs` + a snapshot-scoped `git diff --exit-code`) — free-riding its already-warm build, no new always-on job. Allocation-count counterpart to #9834 (CodSpeed instruction counts). ## Snapshot (3 scenarios) ``` Scenario | Allocs | Reallocs ---------------------------------------------------------- sourcemap/join_with_sourcemap | 4005 | 0 sourcemap/join_no_sourcemap | 1 | 0 sourcemap/collapse_codegen_chain | 8 | 15 ``` Each scenario is a distinct `rolldown_sourcemap` code path (with-builder join / no-builder join / collapse), **sized to a large bundle chunk** so a regression that only bites at scale (superlinear allocation, or a capacity pre-size that quietly stops holding → reallocs appear) shows up here. `join_with_sourcemap` = 4005 allocs / **0 reallocs** confirms the `ConcatSourceMapBuilder` pre-sizing still holds at a large module count; `join_no_sourcemap` = 1 (pre-sized output `String`, builder skipped). Inputs are built **outside** the measured window so each count reflects only the op. ## Coverage The three public ops are the surface: `SourceJoiner::join` (both branches) and `collapse_sourcemaps`. **Deliberately not separate cases:** a *coarse/sparse-map* collapse — at this scale it's dominated by the same O(token-count) loop as the fine chain, so it'd largely duplicate `collapse_codegen_chain` (its only distinct bit, the lookup-miss branch, is a correctness concern covered by a unit test, not a perf path); name remap (oxc emits no names; dead in this pipeline); `adjust_sourcemap_dst_lines` (rebuild shape already covered by collapse; shebang-only cold path); `append_source_dyn` (HMR). ## Notes - **Counts, not bytes** — determined by `std` containers + the crates' own code, stable across platforms; routed through a fixed MiMalloc allocator (oxc's rationale). `Allocs` = fresh, `Reallocs` = in-place grows. - **Canonical platform = the Linux CI runner** (counts are platform-independent by design; confirmed: the Rust Validation `git diff --exit-code` passes on Linux). An `oxc` bump may legitimately move the snapshot. - Dependency-light (`rolldown_sourcemap` + `oxc`, already in the graph); gate is part of the `rust-changes`-gated Rust Validation job.
