IREN comprises global experts with relevant knowledge and experience in the management of respiratory diseases. In November 2025, GAAPP has assumed leadership of IREN— the Innovative Respiratory Endpoints Network from AstraZeneca, while retaining the outstanding global team of experts with relevant knowledge and experience in the management of respiratory diseases who initially focused on advancing awareness and education on the novel composite endpoint CompEx Asthma.

🫁 Under GAAPP’s coordination, IREN will continue to focus on validating, implementing, and globally advocating for clinical trial endpoints and shared decision-making tools that truly matter — not just to researchers, regulators, payers, industry, and clinicians, but most importantly, to patients and caregivers.

🫁 IREN will further develop and promote tools such as health status questionnaires, symptom diaries, and exercise assessments — and explore how the digital ecosystem of sensors, e-diaries, and AI-based data integration can make participation easier and insights richer.

🫁 IREN’s experts work to optimize novel endpoints and advise on methods to effectively communicate their potential benefits and utility to physicians and patients across the respiratory community.

The network’s aim is to improve respiratory disease monitoring, management and ultimately, patient outcomes and together, our mission is to ensure that the science of measurement continues to evolve alongside the science of care.
