EToCalc is a free desktop application from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) that computes reference evapotranspiration (ETo), the standard indicator of atmospheric water demand used to determine crop water requirements. It applies the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith method and works with commonly available weather inputs, including temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation or sunshine duration, along with basic site information such as latitude and elevation. The tool helps users process daily, 10-day, or monthly datasets, convert units, check data consistency, and produce clear summaries and reports. Results can be exported for use in irrigation design and scheduling, water-balance studies, and agroclimatic assessments, and they align well with FAO workflows such as CROPWAT.
