Weightmans integrates sustainability into their core strategy with Circular Computing’s remanufactured laptops

With over 1,200 employees, including 200+ partners, the firm has consistently been featured among the UK’s top law firms. Sustainability is not just an auxiliary value for Weightmans, but a priority deeply woven into
The challenges
Like many large organisations, Weightmans recognised the vital role technology plays in their daily operations.
However, they also understood that IT procurement presents a significant challenge in meeting sustainability and ESG objectives. Traditional laptop manufacturing contributes substantially to carbon emissions, resource depletion and e-waste, amplifying environmental concerns.
Weightmans required technology that would enable them to maintain business efficiency, uphold quality standards and align with their stated commitment to environmental responsibility. The firm also had to consider compliance with sustainability practices increasingly expected by their clients and stakeholders.
One key priority was ensuring the devices they procured were not only environmentally conscious but also met stringent business requirements.
Weightmans aimed to achieve this balance without compromising on performance or aesthetics, managing the dual challenge of environmental accountability and operational necessity. They also needed reassurance regarding warranty options to protect IT investments long-term, ensuring seamless functionality for their diverse and dispersed workforce.
The Process
To address these challenges, Weightmans began exploring alternative options to traditional IT hardware.
During this search, their reseller introduced them to Circular Computing, whose unique offering of remanufactured, carbon-neutral laptops promised to meet their needs both sustainably and operationally.
Initial conversations between the two organisations centred on
understanding Weightmans’ concerns and the bespoke requirements of their workforce. Circular Computing provided sample units of their remanufactured HP 840 G6 laptops to ensure performance, quality and compatibility with their existing network infrastructure.
This testing phase was vital. Weightmans evaluated whether these devices met expectations in terms of user experience, operational requirements and corporate alignment with sustainability targets. The thorough assessment demonstrated positive results across all parameters.
