Fast talking good looking Mayoral Candidate Mamdani for NYC, belies the truth of his agenda for the city. He was wise enough to rid himself of any foreign accent from Uganda. The attacks on Cuomo are starting in earnest. This is a race to be watched in earnest.

An update on Bunks Covid. My rocket ride with Covid seems to have taken a turn for the better and I am starting to see a light at the end of this nasty tunnel. Last week I had thought it had broken, but got stuck in a relapse. Thanks for all your prayers and concern. Still a long way to go.

Let’s update the NYC Mayors race.

The ballot order has been randomly chosen, and you almost have to wonder if the lottery balls were momentum-weighted. Atop the ballot will be Zohran Mamdani, a state assemblyman who has quickly risen to second place in public polls. The front-runner, former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, will be listed sixth. Does ballot order matter? It didn’t seem to in 2021, when Aaron Foldenauer nabbed the top spot, and the eventual winner, Eric Adams, was listed ninth.

What, if anything, surprised you as you pulled together the data?

Well, Mamdani’s numbers are obviously pretty eye-popping. It’s not just that he has a lot of donors, or that he’s raised a lot of money — he’s also managed to reach voters in seemingly every corner of the city. There are neighborhoods where almost everyone who made a donation to any campaign donated to Mamdani. Like in Bushwick, there were a total of 785 donors who gave to Democrats, and 692 of them were Mamdani donors.

Four years ago we have his selling point of Rent Control for the city which no doubt is appealing with its high housing costs.

Zohran will seek to amplify the voices of the preferably unheard across both the district and the state for as long as he remains in office.

Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris, officially backed Democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor on Sunday ahead of his rally at Brooklyn Steel.

The 25-year-old fashion designer and Brooklyn resident showed support for the card-carrying Democratic Socialists of America member the same evening hundreds of millennials and Gen Zers packed into the music venue for the lefty pol’s campaign event.

Emhoff, whose father is former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, shared a video on Instagram of herself and Mamdani together at Brooklyn Steel ahead of the candidate’s speech.

Paterson mayor calls NJ city ‘capital of Palestine’ in Ramadan kickoff remarks: ‘4th holiest city in the world’

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh made the remarks at a Feb. 28 Hilal Lighting Ceremony surrounded by other lawmakers and community leaders in the city with the highest Muslim population in the Garden State.  

“I’m not the one who said it, but I heard people say that Paterson is probably the fourth most halal or holiest city in the world. Jerusalem, Mecca, Medina and Paterson, New Jersey,” the 50-year-old Democrat said.

“Paterson is the capital of Palestine in the United States of America,” he later added.

New York Hochul Signs Bill Fining Oil and Gas Companies $75 Billion to Pay for Climate Damage

If anyone had started thinking maybe New York State and City were getting some sense, fear not. The latest holiday signing of bills passed by Governor Hochul will not bring much merriment to the oil and gas industries. Vermont signed a similar bill last summer. A So called “Super Fund.”

“With nearly every record rainfall, heatwave, and coastal storm, New Yorkers are increasingly burdened with billions of dollars in health, safety, and environmental consequences due to polluters that have historically harmed our environment,” Governor Hochul said. “Establishing the Climate Superfund is the latest example of my administration taking action to hold polluters responsible for the damage done to our environment and requiring major investments in infrastructure and other projects critical to protecting our communities and economy.”

The Marxist bill was carried by Democrat Senator Liz Krueger and Assembly Member Jeffrey Dinowitz.

“The Climate Change Superfund Act is now law, and New York has fired a shot that will be heard round the world: the companies most responsible for the climate crisis will be held accountable,” said Senator Krueger.

New York state will fine fossil fuel companies a total of $75 billion over the next 25 years to pay for damage caused to the climate under a bill Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law on Thursday.

The law is intended to shift some of the recovery and adaptation costs of climate change from individual taxpayers to oil, gas and coal companies that the law says are liable. The money raised will be spent on mitigating the impacts of climate change, including adapting roads, transit, water and sewage systems, buildings and other infrastructure.

Fossil fuel companies will be fined based on the amount of greenhouse gases they released into the atmosphere between 2000 and 2018, to be paid into a Climate Superfund beginning in 2028. It will apply to any company that the New York Department of Environmental Conservation determines is responsible for more than 1 billion tons of global greenhouse gas emissions.

New York becomes the second state to pass such a law after Vermont passed its own version this summer. The laws are modeled after existing state and federal superfund laws that require polluters to pay to clean up toxic waste.

De Blasio claims it’s the first project such as this done in the world. “Coastal Resiliency” is the new term for boondoggles that plunder the treasury in the name of climate change. East River Park is the lucky recipient of this destruction. No millionaires living here in the East River Park area. It is no Central park. But for these folks, it was their little piece of heaven. No second homes for them to escape the city.

New York City is demolishing our big, beloved park on the unwealthy side of the Lower East Side and East Village. Everything must go–shady lawns, picnic areas, ballfields, running track, amphitheater, the compost yard, historic buildings, and 1,000 trees, most 82 years old and healthy.

The city is going ahead with the massively destructive ESCR–East Side Coastal Resiliency project–even though there are alternatives that could preserve much of our park and provide flood control.

Under the current plan, the city will build a 1.2 mile wall along the water and cover the razed park with eight feet of fill. Eventually a new park will be built on top of this levee.

F.B.I. Raids Homes of 2 of Mayor Adams’ top aides, NYPD phones subpoenaed

What in the world is going down in New York City? Mayor Adams? The chickens are coming home to roost.

NEW YORK (WABC) — The FBI came to the homes of two of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ closest aides, sources told ABC News, and subpoenaed the cellphones of at least seven people in the NYPD, including one belonging to Commissioner Edward Caban.

The FBI came to the Hamilton Heights home of First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright and the Hollis, Queens home of Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks, where agents asked them to surrender their phones, the sources said.

It began Wednesday morning but the news broke on Thursday afternoon. It is likely they both occurred at dawn Wednesday.

 

But then again, as we watch these Blue State cities descend into chaos amid the call for DEI, this is what we get. Perhaps not the cream of the crop.

Mayor Eric Adams shows off his diverse administration: “Have you ever seen this much chocolate leading the city of New York??!! This is why they hating on me!” He then compares himself to Jesus for assembling such a non-White team.

Imagine a white mayor saying, “Have you seen this much vanilla leading the city of NY?” While going on to compare himself to Jesus.

De Blasio appoints wife head of coronavirus racial inequality task force

Not going to slow down NYC de Blasio from promoting his wife to another cash cow. Reparations coming my dear, so said the wolf and lots of goodies for her friends. Better yet she is itching for a political office apparently. What could go wrong?

Mayor de Blasio isn’t letting the controversy surrounding his wife’s embattled billion-dollar mental-health initiative stop him from appointing her to head a new coronavirus recovery task force.

Citing her work with the ThriveNYC initiative, de Blasio revealed on Sunday that First Lady Chirlane McCray, a rumored contender for Brooklyn borough president, would co-chair a Task Force on Racial Inclusion and Equity as the city plans its eventual reopening.

Chirlane McCray, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s wife, was entrusted in 2015 with running a new initiative in the city called ThriveNYC, a program that attempted to address issues of homelessness, substance use, depression and suicide, all centered around mental health and with a price tag of $250 million per year in tax payer dollars.

Now, four years later, there are serious concerns and calls for official inquiries into the program because no one can determine if it’s actually been successful. What’s more, due to a general opaqueness when it comes to the program’s budget, ThriveNYC has apparently left that nearly $900 million unaccounted for.

 

“Chirlane doesn’t have an impressive track record running task forces or agencies,” said Councilman Joe Borelli (R-SI), who has jousted with City Hall over Thrive’s alleged lack of help for the NYPD amid a spate of suicides by cops.

“This is too serious an issue to use it as profile raiser,” he added, referring to her potential political aspirations.

Councilman Robert Holden said the appointment reeks of political calculation by the mayor to up McCray’s visibility ahead of a widely rumored run for Beep.

“This is political. I wish de Blasio would stop doing this,” said the Queens Democrat. “Let her win the Brooklyn borough presidency on her own merits.

“Her track record on Thrive and the statue commission hasn’t been so good,” he added, referring to another of McCray’s questionable forays into the spotlight.

Chirlane McCray, the mayor’s wife, launched a “She Built NYC” program and invited the public to vote on the names of women they want the city to recognize with a statue. Mother Cabrini got more votes than any other woman , yet McCray’s panel rejected the public’s choice.

Francesca Xavier Cabrini and other female icons were denied honorary statues after a group controlled by First Lady Chirlane McCray tossed out the revered Catholic sister in favor of more women of color and a drag queen-turned-LGBTQ activist.

She was America’s first saint, a tireless advocate who founded an upstate orphanage, a school for girls in Washington Heights and 67 organizations for the needy in the late 1880s.
But she wasn’t good enough to be named one of New York’s seven most important women.

This despite Cabrini getting the most votes in a poll of New Yorkers on who should be included.

Also denied were poll leaders Emily Warren Roebling, who led the completion of the Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan Music School founder Janet Schenck.

Instead, they selected abortion rights activist Dr. Helen Rodriguez Trías and drag queens Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson, among others, making clear what their criteria were.

The reaction from New Yorkers had been predictably swift and fierce. But apparently it wasn’t fierce enough to slow down de blasio.

NYC thinking about amnesty for one Million open warrants

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is behind a controversial proposal to grant amnesty to more than 1 million people with open warrants for low-level offenses.

But some experts worry it could cause crime to skyrocket.

First he called for reduced penalties for smoking marijuana. Now, Bratton wants to explore granting amnesty to 1.2 million city residents with open warrants for low-level offenses, people who run the risk of being arrested for failing to resolve tickets for drinking in public, disorderly conduct and the like, CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported Monday.

There is one statistic that shows the magnitude of the problem. Last year, of the hundreds of thousands of tickets that were given out for low-level offenses, fully 40 percent of the people either skipped the proceedings or didn’t show up, Kramer reported.

Bloomberg: ‘I am going to slow down the elevator’

Instead of outrage, there is merely the slow desensitization of Americans that this is the new normal. The government intruding into every single aspect of our lives. If one prefers a dictatorship, NYC and Bloomberg show us the way. So we slow down the elevators, place them in out-of-the-way locations. What could go wrong. Best part? This is the new “Low Income housing” that we are supporting. Oopsie, “Affordable Housing” apparently the new term.

The article stated that the “affordable housing” development features murals and music along the stairway, with elevators located farther away from the front door that are “programmed to move at a slow pace.”

The design of the 124-unit, $37.7 million building not only encourages using the stairs but offers a free gym, an outdoor fitness park with exercise machines and a flower garden for children, adults and senior citizens. The building also has an indoor garage.

Arbor House’s outdoor fitness park sports “a tai chi spinner” for senior citizens who move the wheels with their arms, leg presses and a giant-size chess board with 4-foot tall chess pieces children can pick up and move.

The indoor gym has stationary children’s bikes with video games attached to a screen.

The New York Daily News reported on July 17 that the billionaire mayor has an elevator in his $30 million townhouse. – I just thought I would point that out.

As part of his ongoing campaign to transform New York City into what he calls “Fit City,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg is promoting “active design” for low-income housing developments being built there, including plans to prompt residents to use the stairs and rooftop gardens for growing “healthy” foods.

In 2010, the Bloomberg Administration and other public and private sector groups issued the “Active Design Guidelines,” which promotes car-free neighborhoods, encourages “physical movement” inside buildings and “improves access to nutritious food.”

In March, the 124-unit, $37.7 million Arbor House was opened in the Bronx, according to a July 31 Newsday report. Check out the full story if you want to be outraged.

 

“One witty slogan posted on a staircase door reads: ‘If your dog is fat, you’re not getting enough exercise,’” the Newsday article stated.

The Arbor also features a 10,000 square foot, rooftop hydroponic garden where vegetables will be grown, the article stated.

“If this building was five miles south in Manhattan it would be a luxury building,” Les Bluestone, co-founder and partner of Blue Sea Developmen.

Obama Guts Homeland Security- mainly NYC

When I heard about the “alert on Terror” or whatever it is called now, I just could not resist in recalling all of the destructive acts Obama and his minions have done to make us less secure– particularly NYC. So I thought it only appropriate to let us think about what was done previously to put us at risk. Here are a few earlier posts last Spring. Even Collins was stunned. The Obama administration will announce today it has slashed anti-terror funds for New York City, despite the attempted Times Square bombing less than two weeks ago that underscored the enormous threat to the city.Read more: More at New York Post

“In view of the fiscal horizon, we must make bold and systematic strategic decisions,” New Coast Guard Head Papp wrote in the memo, dated Nov. 10, 2009. Obama announced his intention to nominate Papp on Dec. 22.

In the memo, Coast Guard Commandant Papp said he wants to eliminate teams that are trained to respond to and prevent terror attacks. These teams also train other Coast Guard forces on counterterrorism operations.

The memo, marked “sensitive — for internal Coast 

Guard use only,” was obtained by The Associated Press.

He also calls for cuts to the Coast Guard’s largest homeland security operation, which patrols critical infrastructure and other sensitive security structures on or near waterways. And he would decrease the number of specialized units stationed in key coastal areas where an attack could be devastating.

Obama has already proposed closing five of the 12 specialized units in 2011.

Papp’s outline is significant because it could mean major changes for the more than 200-year-old agency that took on substantial homeland security duties after Sept. 11, 2001. Obama’s 2011 proposed budget cuts for the Coast Guard have already caused outrage from some lawmakers.

At a recent hearing, Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), ranking member on the committee, said she was shocked that the Obama administration’s budget for the Department of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2011 cuts funding for the U.S. Coast Guard while asking for $200 million for security for the Sheikh Mohammed trial.

 When asked by ranking minority leader Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) why the DHS budget spends money on securing the trials of terrorists in the U.S. while cutting funding for U.S. Coast Guard, Napolitano defended the Obama administration’s stance on the matter.

Collins said “Decommissioning part of the Coast Guard’s 13th elite maritime security safety teams that protect waterfront cities makes absolutely no sense given the threats to our ports,” adding that she believed the Senate would not fund security for terror trials in the U.S. Check out: Janet Napoliotano not consulted on terror trials/
