Sunday Respite – Vangelis – Hymn Impulsion

Nature up and did it and we got the reality that there is a thing called winter. A good snow rocked my state. It was a break from the drought we had been experiencing but we need much more.

This gets one to thinking of far away places. So how about some Vangelis?

Federal Court Rules the Defamation Suit Against Andrew Weissmann Can Move Forward

We have been waiting for justice and it came back in a big chunk with the latest action against Andrew Weissmann. Many of us have had to witness the lawfare unfairly perpetrated against Trump and his supporters these last years. And nothing could be sweeter than to see Andrew Weissmann at the receiving end of some payback, finally getting his “just desserts.”

Add to it, our gal Liz Cheney got caught with her hand in the cookie jar. At the end of the post, Tucker Carlson interviews Hope Hicks Attorney, Stefan Passantino who in the end had endure a huge fight to keep his law license.

A federal court has denied a motion by anti-Trump pundit Andrew Weissmann to dismiss a defamation suit by former White House lawyer Stefan Passantino over false claims that he had coached a January 6 Committee witness to lie.

As Breitbart News reported in September 2023:

Former Trump White House attorney Stefan Passantino filed a defamation lawsuit against MSNBC’s Andrew Weissmann, who served as lead prosecutor for former special counsel Robert Mueller, over Weissmann’s claims that Passantino coached discredited January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson to lie on the stand.

“Hutchinson’s third-hand testimony that Trump grabbed the wheel of his presidential limousine in an effort to force it to drive to the Capitol was rejected by the people she claimed had told her about it,” Breitbart News reported.

Passantino represented Hutchinson at the time of her testimony before the committee. Many members of the media falsely claimed he coached her to lie on the stand, a claim he has repeatedly denied.

The Federalist reported Wednesday:

In September, U.S. District Court Judge Loren AliKhan denied a motion from MSNBC legal analyst and attorney Andrew Weissmann to dismiss a complaint filed by Stefan Passantino, who represented former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson before she became the Jan. 6 Committee’s star witness.

“This is an insidious lie,” Passantino’s lawsuit reads. “Ms. Hutchinson even testified, under penalty of law: ‘I want to make this clear to you: Stefan [Passantino] never told me to lie. … He told me not to lie.”

Hutchinson’s testimony can be found on page 42 of the publicly available transcript from her Sept. 14, 2022, interview with the Jan. 6 Committee. Passantino, instead, coached her as a standard fact witness to only answer questions she could recall. Passantino represented Hutchinson through her first three interviews with the committee before she changed counsel and appeared publicly. None of the transcripts dated Feb. 23, 2022, March 7, 2022, or May 17, 2022, show Passantino obstructing Hutchinson’s testimony. While the transcripts were also recorded, the Jan. 6 Committee destroyed the video.

Weissmann has been the ultimate thorn in Trump side, and the glee at plying his trade of lawfare has known no bounds.

The Federalist continues:

Weissmann, however, charged Passantino with “coach[ing] her to lie” in a post to roughly 320,000 followers on X after CNN published a series of hit pieces that accused Passantino of pressuring Hutchinson to illegally manipulate her testimony.

….

A recent report from House Republicans investigating the Jan. 6 Committee in October found that Hutchinson was communicating directly with Cheney without Passantino’s knowledge throughout his representation of her.

According to text messages, that appear to be from the encrypted messaging app “Signal,” between Hutchinson and Farah Griffin obtained by the Subcommittee, Cheney agreed to communicate with Hutchinson through Farah Griffin. However, it appears that Cheney knew communicating with Hutchinson while Hutchinson was represented by an attorney and a subject of the Select Committee’s investigation, without going through Hutchinson’s attorney, would be unethical. This is evident by Farah Griffin’s text to Hutchinson that Cheney’s “one concern was so long as [sic] you have counsel, she can’t really ethically talk to you without him.”?

For nearly a month, Farah Griffin acted?as an intermediary between?Cheney and the Select Committee. As an intermediary for Cheney, Farah Griffin helped coordinate Hutchinson’s third transcribed interview—without Hutchinson’s lawyer, Stefan Passantino’s knowledge. During the same time, Farah Griffin and Hutchinson discussed the optics of Hutchinson leaking her “new information” to the press instead of providing it directly to the Select Committee. Hutchinson and Farah Griffin also colluded to create a false story about why Hutchinson needed to do a third transcribed interview for the Select Committee to feed to Passantino. Presumably this was done at Cheney’s direction because it was Cheney herself who led the third transcribed interview with Hutchinson. Cheney knew that Passantino represented Hutchinson leading up to and during this third transcribed interview with the Select Committee on May 17, 2022.

In her May 17, 2022, transcribed interview Hutchinson testified to a series of uncorroborated and unverified stories that conveniently fit the Select Committee’s narrative that President Trump is dangerous and solely responsible for the events of January 6. Despite already testifying to the Select Committee twice, Hutchinson never previously mentioned this “new information.”

But I digressed:

Three months after CNN’s stories were published and six months before Weissmann’s potentially defamatory post on X, the New York Times reported on “several dozen prominent legal figures, including past presidents of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar,” trying to revoke Passantino’s law license.

“In a 22-page complaint filed on Monday with D.C.’s Board on Professional Responsibility, prominent lawyers accused Mr. Passantino of the crimes of subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and bribery,” the Times reported.

Read more The Federalist.

Now we get the kicker in the story. I have heard Passantino interviewed. What few appreciate  is that over 2000 people were subpoenaed in the J6 investigation. This requiring the witnesses to seek and pay for legal counsel. Then, many of the attorneys that represented them to testify, had their law licenses under review, and had to fight to keep them. Some losing the fight.

Here is the interview not to be missed.

That’s all she wrote. A big day in the swamp.

The Stench of Mike Rodgers, FBI Director Candidate – Another Swamp Rat

Mike Rodgers appears on the scene again. Benghazi? He all but buried the report and did his best to protect Hillary Clinton. There is zip being reported about what Mike Rodgers and his wife are all about.

Steve Bannon of War Room fame supports Kash Patel for the job and reported prematurely it was in the bag for him. Patel is the alternate candidate probably for the FBI Directorship. An absolute firebrand, and would torch the FBI. So about this Rodgers fellow.

Rogers, a former FBI special agent and was a Michigan US Rep., is in the running to be nominated for the FBI Director. This after losing his recent run for Senate in Michigan.

“Businessman Sandy Pensler his opponent, is accusing former Rep. Mike Rogers, his opponent in the Republican primary for Michigan’s open Senate seat, of protecting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the House’s Benghazi investigation.” (Washington Examiner)

Hello! Benghazi!! Anyone remember?. So I dug into Bunks Box of Golden Oldies and racked up some parts of old posts, one of many over the past ten years. He has been on the Deep State scene since at least 2014.

Note this post is 2017 – Rinse, wash and repeat for 2024.

Drumbeat for Mike Rodgers for FBI Director starts, another swamp rat

All one has to do is google “Rodgers for FBI Director” and what appears is the drumbeat Trump considers former Rep. Mike Rogers for FBI Director: report …thehill.com/. Here is why this is a terrible possibility.

Nothing smells worse than the word on the street that Mike Rodgers is up for the FBI Director position in the Trump administration. Much of this post I did back in 2014 but the stench isn’t any better today.

If there is any question about the faux Benghazi report that came out from the Intelligence Committee under the less than esteemed Chairman Rodgers, let me answer by looking at the cast of lying weasels that played a part in this. The is the fine fellow who buried the Benghazi facts.

Published on Nov 24, 2014

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told CNN’s State of the Union Sunday morning that last week’s the House Intelligence Committee’s Benghazi report, which hollowed out a number of Republican arguments on the incident, was “full of crap.”

H/T:Right Scoop with video

Let’s take a look first at Rodgers wife and just who she is and see if we can connect the dots. First as a CEO of a Defense Contractor and then hired by a lobbying firm.

Just who Chairman Rodgers wife and her role in D.C?

CNN Transcripts” -(Full transcript at link)

GRIFFIN: Want an example? Take Kristi Clemens Rogers.

Four years ago, she married the powerful chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers.

Up until 2012, she was also the CEO of the American branch of Aegis, a defense and security contracting firm, where. according to her new employer, the law firm, Manatt, Phelps and Phillips, Kristi Rogers successfully developed and led a two-year pursuit and capture strategy to win a five-year, $10 billion contract under the Department of State’s Worldwide Protective Services program.

And, yes, it’s an area her husband’s committee has Congressional oversight, making sure diplomats and their staffs are properly protected.

She is not a registered lobbyist. She just happens to work for a firm that does extensive lobbying, and on its Web site, touts its “strong relationships in Congress” with a “solid record of success in securing legislation and federal funding on behalf of clients.” NYHART: And it’s this kind of conflict of interest that leads to this deep distrust.

GRIFFIN: What we are told constantly by the members is, I never talk to my spouse about this issue.

“I never talk to her on this business. There’s a firewall between me and my sons who are lobbyists.”

GRIFFIN: And the fortunes go both ways. Mike Rogers’ wife, Kristi becomes CEO of defense contractor, then is hired by a lobbying firm.

Rogers becomes chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and according to the Federal Election Commission, political donations from the defense industry quadruple, all legal, all within the rules, all routine in the family business of Washington.

Joe diGenova tells WMAL GOP Congressman Mike Rogers (MI-8) is trying to kill Benghazi Investigation

Posted on 3/10/2014

Speaking with Larry O’Connor and guest host Christine O’Donnell, Joe diGenova tells WMAL that GOP Congressman Mike Rogers (MI-8) is trying to kill the Benghazi Investigation.

It is so bad, that even John Boehner has taken Mike Rogers to task for his lack of action.

Back up a bit to 2014:

Does Mike Rodgers have his heart in the Morell Benghazi hearing today: UPDATE

The CIA’s top officer on the ground in Libya at the time of the Benghazi terror attack will appear before a House panel for the first time Tuesday afternoon — to deliver what could be critical closed-door testimony, ahead of ex-CIA Director Michael Morell’s scheduled appearance on Wednesday.

Two congressional sources confirmed to Fox News that the CIA chief of station will appear before a House intelligence subcommittee. His perspective was long-sought by lawmakers, and the timing is critical — coming before Morell’s first-ever public testimony Wednesday about his role, and that of the administration, in the flawed “talking points” which blamed a protest.

‘Revolving door’? Ties between consultancy, gov’t raise questions about Benghazi probe

Meet Beacon Global Strategies.

The online bios for its founders and managing directors suggest no group knows more about the Benghazi terrorist attack and the Obama administration’s response. Yet the consulting firm has deep ties to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others involved in the controversy – ties so intertwined with the administration and Capitol Hill that they raise questions about an upcoming hearing where former CIA Acting Director Mike Morell is slated to testify.

Morell, who also is a national security analyst for CBS News and has a book deal, joined the Beacon firm after retiring from the CIA last year. In doing so, he joined an organization already stacked with ex-government officials. Among them is Philippe Reines, whom the New York Times magazine recently described as Clinton’s “principal gatekeeper.” According to Beacon’s website, Reines traveled to more than 110 countries with the then-Secretary of State as part of her senior team.

Another employee, Jeremy Bash, was a former chief of staff to Leon Panetta at both the CIA and Defense Department. Andrew Shapiro was a Clinton policy adviser at the State Department whose portfolio included ridding Libya of shoulder-launched missiles called MANPADs.

And it includes Republican J. Michael Allen, who was a former majority staff director for the House Intelligence Committee, headed by Republican Rep. Mike Rogers. The following link is a great read and worth the time.

Reported Senate Offer: We’ll Give You Matt Gaetz in DOJ, if You Give us Mike Rogers in FBI

Not beyond the realm of the possible as the FBI Directorship remains strangely unfilled as Gaetz moves about the Senate rounding up votes and perhaps making a deal. Bannon thought the deal with Patel was made and then the position goes strangely silent? It gives credence to the story.

This type of deal is exactly how the IC can hunker down and avoid the sunlight of investigation upon their corrupt operations.  This type of deal is how the counterintelligence division of the FBI can simply operate to protect the DOJ-NSD embeds that will attempt to remain in power within Main Justice.   This type of deal is how the FBI remains entirely political.

Portion of Mike Rodgers latest CV

Mike Rogers served as an Officer in the U.S. Army before he joined the FBI as a Special Agent in Chicago where was tasked with tackling organized crime.. Mike served as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee from 2011- 2015, leading the committee through two major conflicts. Following his time in Congress, Mike founded cyber security companies where he advised large and small businesses on best practices to protect their data against foreign bad actors like China, Iran, and Russia. Mike is currently a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

U.S Involvement in Ukraine War Expansion – Gives Far More Than ‘Permission’

The Press proclaims “U.S. gives permission for the use of Long Range Missiles.” The hitch? It is U.S technology being used, the U.S. and/or NATO involvement in setting the destination and coordinates of the missile. Ukraine does not have the technology as Putin points out. Now as Putin has always said, the use of these weapons is a red line.

Permission? Rather it is the U.S./NATO that is complicit in the expansion of the war. Meanwhile Putin lowers the threshold for the use of Nukes. Biden isn’t done ramping up the tension. Just now the Washington post reports:

Biden approves antipersonnel mines for Ukraine, undoing his own policy

This latest turn of events so far appears to raise little concerns in the U.S., but it sure does in Europe. Sweden has begun a series of emergency notifications to its citizens to prepare for general war.

It is called a major escalation. It would be wise to consider where this could lead. Mustang, who wrote yesterday’s post About Ukraine Using U.S. Long Range Missiles – A Risky Gambleleft this comment:

Russia correctly views the latest events as NATO’s direct engagement in attacking Russia.  The truth of this is bad enough, but ultimately, the truth doesn’t matter.  If Putin perceives that his country is being attacked by NATO (and I believe that would be a correct assessment), then Putin is likely to counterattack; I would not expect Russia to use Wal-Mart-grade missiles to respond.

He goes on with something more to consider:

We should anticipate that if Putin chooses not to act, the Russian military may remove him from office and put someone in place who will. We should also be worried about any mutual defense pacts Russia may have signed with other NATO adversaries. NATO is driving this bus, and it is headed toward a precipice.(end)

Now as we stand at the brink of a World War, it would be wise to trouble ourselves with taking the time to look at the past couple of decades for the history.

For that I turn first to Jeffrey Sacks.

Senator Tommy Tuberville looks at the situation from another angle- the reality of the situation.

Tuberville Decries Ukraine Aid And NATO Expansion, Says War Is ‘Unwinnable’ And Demands Peace Talks. (September, 2024.)

Of course any post concerning the involvement of the U.S. in the Ukraine fiasco would not be complete without mentioning one time Undersecretary Victoria Nuland who was one of the engineers:

War Monger UnderSecretary Victoria Nuland Resigns, an End to Her Bloodthirsty Reign

Visit at your time…. this sums it up.

“One of the most bloodthirsty and psychotic war mongers to occupy high office in Washington resigned today, evidently and hopefully bringing a shameful end to her long and destructive career in Washington.”

A bipartisan fixture in Washington, Victoria Nuland had a hand in countless US foreign policy catastrophes, from the invasion of Iraq to the 2014 coup in Ukraine.

About Ukraine Using U.S. Long Range Missiles – A Risky Gamble

by Mustang

President Joe Biden now authorizes Ukraine to use the U.S. Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) inside Russia, a decision that follows months of lobbying by Ukrainian officials and is seen by anyone with an ounce of common sense as a United States/NATO escalation in the Russo-Ukrainian War.

When asked for a comment on Biden’s decision, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said simply that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has already spoken on this matter.” Indeed, he has. On September 12, 2024, Putin stated to Russian media, saying, “It is not a question of allowing the Ukrainian regime to strike Russia with these weapons or not. It is about deciding whether NATO countries become directly involved in the military conflict or not.” He added, “Moscow will make appropriate decisions in response to threats that are imposed on us.”

Developed in 1991, the missile is a supersonic tactical ballistic missile designed and manufactured by Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) and Lockheed Martin. It uses a solid propellant, measures 13 feet long and 24 inches in diameter, and has a range of 190 miles. The missile is launched from the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and the M142 High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).

The system was upgraded beginning in 2015 when the Obama administration signed a contract with Lockheed Martin to develop new hardware; the first modernized system was delivered in September 2016.  Additional work commenced almost immediately to enable ATACMS to strike moving targets on land and at sea.  This project was terminated in December 2020 after considerable expenditures had already been made to the developer.

The ship-launched version of this system is called NATACMS.

Beginning in late 2023, Ukraine started to use the earliest (short-range) version of the missile system to threaten the Russian-occupied land corridor to Crimea in southern Ukraine, as well as the Russian air bases in northern Crimea.

Despite recent information about President Biden authorizing these missiles for use in Ukraine, the fact is that Ukraine already used them in February 2024 against the Russian-occupied Dzhankoi Air Base. Presumably, Biden now allows Ukraine to send the missiles into Russia proper, along with the possible use of a NATO system called Storm Shadow (SCALPEG), a cruise missile system.

Note from video:

As Ukraine faces its most devastating winter, President Biden’s decision to allow ATACMS strikes within Russian territory has worsened the situation. this big shift in u.s policy, coming just months before Trump’s return to power, threatens to transform a proxy war into a direct confrontation between nuclear powers.

Although most people are not paying attention to these events or consider them potential threats to the peace and security of the United States, the few who are paying attention correctly note that this exemplifies the true nature of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

In exchange for access to European markets and industries and influence on certain European Union policies and programs, the United States will fight most of NATO’s battles and fund the costs of lethal conflict in both blood and materials.  Sweden, meanwhile, has begun a series of emergency notifications to its citizens to prepare for general war.Image

One of these days, Americans will wake up and stop electing Democrats to any office higher than dog catcher.

Biden Humiliated in Peru as he OK’s Ukraine Use of Long Range Missiles in Russia

Nothing like the dementia-ridden, deep state puppet in the White House green lighting a little World War 3 on his way out to the glue factory. Putin warned in September that U.S. approving the use of long range missiles would mean that the U.S. was at war with Russia. Putin stated that using these missiles would require the use of U.S. satellite  technology that Ukraine does not have.

Zero Hedge continues:

In a move straight out of Louis “After me, the flood” XV, the outgoing BIden admin, in a seemingly desperate move to destabilize the global geopolitical picture, has authorized the lifting of some restrictions on Ukraine’s use of western-made weapons to strike military targets inside Russia, according to reports from Bloomberg and the AP. The decision was reportedly shaped by North Korea ramping up support for President Vladimir Putin’s army and an increase in Russian missile and drone attacks on its neighbor. Read more

Zero Hedge does an excellent analysis of the Ukraine situation that is not getting the attention it deserves. Now with North Korea entering the fray with 3000 troops and the potential for 100,000 more, we would be wise to do so.

France 24 reports

Politico Reports:

The Biden administration is planning to rush the last of over $6 billion remaining in Ukraine security assistance out the door by Inauguration Day, as the outgoing team prepares for the weapons flow to end once President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

The plan, described by two administration officials who were granted anonymity to discuss internal matters, is the only option the White House has to keep sending equipment to Ukraine to fight off continued Russian offensives. But the problems are immense. It normally takes months for munitions and equipment to get to Ukraine after an aid package is announced, so anything rolled out in the coming weeks would likely not fully arrive until well into the Trump administration, and the next commander in chief could halt the shipments before they’re on the ground.

As if this doesn’t punctuate the precariousness of the world’s peace,  Biden goes down and allows himself to be a fool. He met with Xi, for what purpose one can only guess.

LIMA, Peru (AP) — President Joe Biden arrived Thursday in Peru to start his six-day visit to Latin America for the final major international summits of his presidency, even as world leaders turn their attention to what Donald Trump’s return to the White House means for their countries.

Biden made other world leaders wait more than five minutes to take the group photo at the APEC Summit in Peru — then stuck him in the back corner when he finally showed up. Xi Jinping was front and center. Although some may claim that standing is alphabetical, prior photos show Trump muscling his way front and center.

His face is doing that weird thing again.

Are Trump’s Cabinet Choices the Worst Ever?

The wringing of hands over the “picks” so far Trump has made for his cabinet. One thing you have to say, the choices so far have sure shaken up the status quo.

Andrea Mitchell thought she would set Senator Hagerty straight about candidate Gaetz and a couple of the other choices. What follows is an excellent refresher of what has just happened at the Justice department, and he dismantles her in an interview not to be missed.

It starts out like this:

Andrea Mitchell:
What is your reaction to Matt Gaetz as Attorney General? Right now, would you support him?

Bill Hagerty:
Listen, Andrea, it’s amazing to me that people are reacting the way they are to what you just showed, because there has been no one better at channeling the American public’s frustration with the weaponization of the Department of Justice than Matt Gaetz. You can understand the President’s frustration with the DOJ.

During his first campaign, they used a fake Clinton dossier to spy on him. Look at what happened in the first Trump administration—this whole fake Russiagate hoax. The DOJ litigated him for years over that.

n 2020, the DOJ went to big tech and had them censor Hunter Biden’s laptop to throw the election toward Joe Biden. Think about what just happened in 2024: the DOJ, with their colleagues around the country, brought five different cases to try President Biden’s top opponent, President Trump. I can understand his frustration in wanting to put an agent of change in place. I’m not surprised at all.

Andrea Mitchell:
I don’t want to litigate everything that happened with Donald Trump because there’s a lot of evidence to support many of the allegations and, in fact, the indictments—Mar-a-Lago, the sloppy intelligence handling.

Bill Hagerty:

I think the American public spoke louder than anybody. They gave him the strongest mandate we’ve seen in 36 years in reaction to all of this.

Andrea Mitchell:
But a Trump-appointed judge cut all of that off, and it wasn’t fully vetted. Let’s just say that was the legal system at work, no question.

Bill Hagerty:
It was not working. It was weaponized.

Here we go with the rest of it.

For more on Gaetz, here is a link to yesterday’s post. The real story is not always what is presented.

Gaetz was cleared even by the DOJ as to any crime. The Ethics investigation is a resurrected investigation for the second time in payoff for his dismembering of Kevin McCarthy as speaker.

Trump said he was going to be a disrupter. As to whether he can be confirmed? It is going to take some razzle dazzle.

Lawfare by our own.

John Bolton is in peak demand now by the networks keeping with the Trump attack. Just keep this in mind as you watch him opine.

The swamp is agitated. How many think we could do much worse than what we have now roaming around this totally corrupt Biden government? I can’t say most of these folks would have been my first choice, but their Trump’s choices.
