We have been waiting for justice and it came back in a big chunk with the latest action against Andrew Weissmann. Many of us have had to witness the lawfare unfairly perpetrated against Trump and his supporters these last years. And nothing could be sweeter than to see Andrew Weissmann at the receiving end of some payback, finally getting his “just desserts.”
Add to it, our gal Liz Cheney got caught with her hand in the cookie jar. At the end of the post, Tucker Carlson interviews Hope Hicks Attorney, Stefan Passantino who in the end had endure a huge fight to keep his law license.
A federal court has denied a motion by anti-Trump pundit Andrew Weissmann to dismiss a defamation suit by former White House lawyer Stefan Passantino over false claims that he had coached a January 6 Committee witness to lie.
Former Trump White House attorney Stefan Passantino filed a defamation lawsuit against MSNBC’s Andrew Weissmann, who served as lead prosecutor for former special counsel Robert Mueller, over Weissmann’s claims that Passantino coached discredited January 6 Committee witness Cassidy Hutchinson to lie on the stand.
“Hutchinson’s third-hand testimony that Trump grabbed the wheel of his presidential limousine in an effort to force it to drive to the Capitol was rejected by the people she claimed had told her about it,” Breitbart News reported.
Passantino represented Hutchinson at the time of her testimony before the committee. Many members of the media falsely claimed he coached her to lie on the stand, a claim he has repeatedly denied.
In September, U.S. District Court Judge Loren AliKhan denied a motion from MSNBC legal analyst and attorney Andrew Weissmann to dismiss a complaint filed by Stefan Passantino, who represented former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson before she became the Jan. 6 Committee’s star witness.
…
“This is an insidious lie,” Passantino’s lawsuit reads. “Ms. Hutchinson even testified, under penalty of law: ‘I want to make this clear to you: Stefan [Passantino] never told me to lie. … He told me not to lie.”
Hutchinson’s testimony can be found on page 42 of the publicly available transcript from her Sept. 14, 2022, interview with the Jan. 6 Committee. Passantino, instead, coached her as a standard fact witness to only answer questions she could recall. Passantino represented Hutchinson through her first three interviews with the committee before she changed counsel and appeared publicly. None of the transcripts dated Feb. 23, 2022, March 7, 2022, or May 17, 2022, show Passantino obstructing Hutchinson’s testimony. While the transcripts were also recorded, the Jan. 6 Committee destroyed the video.
Weissmann has been the ultimate thorn in Trump side, and the glee at plying his trade of lawfare has known no bounds.
The Federalist continues:
Weissmann, however, charged Passantino with “coach[ing] her to lie” in a post to roughly 320,000 followers on X after CNN published a series of hit pieces that accused Passantino of pressuring Hutchinson to illegally manipulate her testimony.
….
A recent report from House Republicans investigating the Jan. 6 Committee in October found that Hutchinson was communicating directly with Cheney without Passantino’s knowledge throughout his representation of her.
According to text messages, that appear to be from the encrypted messaging app “Signal,” between Hutchinson and Farah Griffin obtained by the Subcommittee, Cheney agreed to communicate with Hutchinson through Farah Griffin. However, it appears that Cheney knew communicating with Hutchinson while Hutchinson was represented by an attorney and a subject of the Select Committee’s investigation, without going through Hutchinson’s attorney, would be unethical. This is evident by Farah Griffin’s text to Hutchinson that Cheney’s “one concern was so long as [sic] you have counsel, she can’t really ethically talk to you without him.”?
For nearly a month, Farah Griffin acted?as an intermediary between?Cheney and the Select Committee. As an intermediary for Cheney, Farah Griffin helped coordinate Hutchinson’s third transcribed interview—without Hutchinson’s lawyer, Stefan Passantino’s knowledge. During the same time, Farah Griffin and Hutchinson discussed the optics of Hutchinson leaking her “new information” to the press instead of providing it directly to the Select Committee. Hutchinson and Farah Griffin also colluded to create a false story about why Hutchinson needed to do a third transcribed interview for the Select Committee to feed to Passantino. Presumably this was done at Cheney’s direction because it was Cheney herself who led the third transcribed interview with Hutchinson. Cheney knew that Passantino represented Hutchinson leading up to and during this third transcribed interview with the Select Committee on May 17, 2022.
In her May 17, 2022, transcribed interview Hutchinson testified to a series of uncorroborated and unverified stories that conveniently fit the Select Committee’s narrative that President Trump is dangerous and solely responsible for the events of January 6. Despite already testifying to the Select Committee twice, Hutchinson never previously mentioned this “new information.”
But I digressed:
Three months after CNN’s stories were published and six months before Weissmann’s potentially defamatory post on X, the New York Times reported on “several dozen prominent legal figures, including past presidents of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar,” trying to revoke Passantino’s law license.
“In a 22-page complaint filed on Monday with D.C.’s Board on Professional Responsibility, prominent lawyers accused Mr. Passantino of the crimes of subornation of perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and bribery,” the Times reported.
Now we get the kicker in the story. I have heard Passantino interviewed. What few appreciate is that over 2000 people were subpoenaed in the J6 investigation. This requiring the witnesses to seek and pay for legal counsel. Then, many of the attorneys that represented them to testify, had their law licenses under review, and had to fight to keep them. Some losing the fight.
Here is the interview not to be missed.
