So I thought I'd design a challenge to bring some love to those films.

2. The films must have been nominated for Oscars. Being shortlisted doesn't count. They can be nominated in any category, including if they won any Honorary Awards, unless the criteria specifically names a category.
3. If the criteria says "features an Oscar nominated person", it means they had to have been nominated for that film.
4. The films can be watched in any order.
5. The films do not have to be first time watches but the more first time watches, the better!

This challenge took from January 7, 2022 to December 3, 2022. The average score I gave for this challenge was a 3.9
The biggest surprise was Nixon. Much as I did enjoy JFK, I still didn’t think one could make a three hour epic biopic about Richard Nixon anything enjoyable and yet that film is amazing. It helps that Anthony Hopkins gave such an amazing performance. One of the best of his career honestly. The biggest disappointment was Porgy and Bess. I’m a huge Sidney Poitier fan and that was the first musical I saw him in so I was excited. But I should have been more apprehensive about the subject matter and sure enough, it was disappointing. Highly problematic despite the great performances and great music.
