Japan at the Oscars

This is a list of every Japanese produced film that has ever been nominated in any category at the Oscars. Japan has the record as the Asian country with the most nominations for Best Foreign Language Film and is one of only two non-European countries to have ten or more nominations in this category, along with Israel. Japan was also the first country outside of Europe, and in reality other than Italy or France, to win in this category. Japan is also unique in that it frequently gets nominated for Oscars outside of this category, namely in the Best Animated Feature category.
