Curbside Food
Waste Recycling
We are proud to offer curbside food waste recycling as a service to every household in Bexley. This is a newer service offered to residents, and we encourage every individual and family to participate!
We sometimes refer to uneaten food as “food waste,” but food scraps are a resource! The natural process of composting returns the nutrients in food scraps back into the soil, improves soil and decreases erosion. All of this means bigger, more nutritious crops. None of the above happens when food is thrown out. Nutrients are forever lost in the landfill which means we need to rely on heavy industry to make synthetic fertilizers instead.
Bexley's curbside program is serviced through a contract with Earth Peak Solutions. Food waste recycling receptacles are collected on Mondays and need to be placed in the tree lawn separate from any trash, yard waste, or recycling. Rumpke is not responsible for any food waste collection.
