The Problem:
Sofco had found success with a flagship product focused on providing their enterprise-level customers with logistical analysis and planning, but the product had outgrown the local host it was built on. Moreover, turnover in the company left gaps in their institutional knowledge.
Our Solution:
Sofco had in-house development resources but there wasn’t enough time in a week to focus on the migration, and the day to day, so Belsham proposed a broader contract that would allow them to take advantage of our development resources as well as our breadth of knowledge.
The Approach:
One of our developers was previously employed with SofCo, providing the foundation for the rest of the Belsham team to understand their code during the initial project. From there, we cross-trained other members of the team so we could provide long-term comprehensive support, as well as provide multiple resources to train new SofCo employees.
Evolution:
As the bulk of the system has been converted to Software as a Service, there have been sub-projects to convert custom component to the new model, and as well as keeping the SofCo team up-to-date on the architecture of the system.
