I normally depart from socials during Lent, but this year I had a book published a week after Shrove Tuesday. The book has been out now for 3 months, so I think I'll step out for a while & reset. If you need me, I have a gmail with my name. Peace!

I don’t know who this nerd is who goes to our church, but I will find them and befriend them.

Sometimes I drop by the coffee shop in the town I grew up in and I’ll see the parents of someone I grew up with and then realize it’s not their parents but it’s them and that now I’m old.

📣 I have signed a publishing contract with @WisebloodBooks for a full poetry collection coming in 2026. As their motto says, they’re wide-eyed for hard won wisdom & epiphanies of beauty, so I’m happy to throw my words in with them. Stay tuned for updates as they are available.

Pretty wild how that is a universal rumor in all local school districts.

I have 3 kids. Each has about 2 hours of assignments due each day. Each kid is required to use a different “portal” to turn in work. We have two computers, one of which I need to use for work, where I teach 60 students. A train left Baltimore, 50 miles East. I need a raincoat.

I personally find this author vain, pretentious, and redundant.
It’s a great short story by @sethwieck in the latest @DappledThings1. Just right for Sunday.

My friend made me this watch. He’s an ER doctor who doesn’t sit still. He makes guitars, motorcycles, furniture, watches in his spare time. The logo in the watch is a Rod of Asclepius with a clock face. Keep your Rolexes. I’ve got a Doc Hanson.

They used to ink these on sheep’s hide. Degrees conferred meant something died. Here the only spent sheep Were years of lost sleep So I could go get bonafide. Thanks @JMWSPT @WisebloodBooks @HootenWilson & our inaugural cohort for the education.

In middle school I pantsed a kid, as middle schoolers do. He went on to become a D1 lineman, played a couple of seasons in the NFL. Got into buying oil leases and became a billionaire many times over. His name is on a college football stadium. I’m the guy who pantsed him.

I'm wrapping up an unwieldy essay. At 13,000 words, it's probably unpublishable. It's too long. It's disjointed. It's probably not useful to anyone but me. But I'm glad I have worked out the thoughts. It can't have been a waste. Essays should be a pastime.

I was informed today that I received 3rd place in the Everett Southwest Literary Award for a collection of short stories. There’s probably etiquette that says only first place tweets about it, but I’m swinging the bronze medal and singing the national anthem.

But it costs nearly nothing to be a woman who: - has a mind like a diamond - knows what’s best - has shoes that cut - eyes that burn like cigarettes - uses a machete to cut through red tape - tours the facility and picks up slack - is fast & thorough & sharp as a tack
    Breakdown of the costs of a “well-maintained” attractive woman in a large U.S. city: - hair: $400/every 2-3 months at least - facials: $200-300/mnth - fitness: $200-400/mnth - cosmetics: $100-300/mnth - nails: $100+/mnth - brows: $15-40/mnth - waxing/laser: $100-$150/mnth - med
