Gmail IMAP Settings
Important Note: Google no longer supports the use of third-party apps with "less secure apps" option. You must use App Passwords for secure access.
- To access your Gmail account with third-party apps, you need to enable "2-step verification" and create an "App Password".
Now "App Password" is required to access third-party apps
Follow these simple steps to create an App Password:
- Login to your Gmail Account and ensure "2-step verification" is enabled
- If 2-step verification is not active, you need to enable it first
Follow these steps to enable 2-Step verification:
- Login to your Gmail account and go to Gmail Settings
- Click on "Security" from the left menu and then click on 2-step verification as shown below
- Now Click on Get Started Button
- Login with Your Gmail Account
- Complete Mobile verification
- Enter verification Code
- And then click on "Turn On" option
- After enabling 2-step verification option, you need to create your app password
- Now click on back arrow and find "App passwords" option, click on "App Passwords" to process
- Now Select "Mail" in first and "windows Computer" in another Option if you want to access this password to windows computer and "Generate" Button
- Now you can copy provided password and easily access your account with third party apps
Success! You have now successfully created an App Password. Use this password in your email client's IMAP settings.
IMAP Server Settings:
- Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server: imap.gmail.com
- Port: 993
- Security: SSL/TLS
- Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 465
- Security: SSL/TLS
