Empowering Educators through Assistive Technology (AT)
Join us for dynamic in-person workshops designed for educators, service providers, and administrators. This training will strengthen your knowledge, skills, and competencies in Assistive Technology (AT), equipping you to make informed decisions about AT tools and services. Learn how to support students with disabilities in accessing the general curriculum, participating meaningfully in school activities, and remaining in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Approved for Project 613 Funds

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) has implemented Project 613 to increase staff participation, both in special education and general education, for professional development that improves outcomes for students with disabilities.
Districts may be reimbursed for substitute pay and travel expenses associated with attending our 2025-26 Empowering Educators through Assistive Technology workshops.
Learning Objectives
- Define and understand assistive technology (AT) and accessible educational materials (AEM) as used in educational settings, and legal requirements under federal law and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) mandates.
- Apply strategies to effectively consider AT during educational planning or decision-making processes.
- Discover ways to gather information and trial AT devices as part of the AT assessment process.
- Develop knowledge about and proficiency, including AT in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Explore educationally relevant AT devices and discover ways to build and maintain AT resources within your school district.

Refund & Cancellation Policy
If Oklahoma ABLE Tech cancels or reschedules a course:
- You will be notified as soon as possible.
- You can choose to receive a full refund, move your registration to the rescheduled date, or a future course.
- Refunds are processed within 10 business days.
If you wish to cancel your registration:
- Cancellations seven or more days before the course will receive a full refund (minus any processing fees).
- Cancellations less than seven days before the course may receive a partial refund or course credit.
- Usually, no refund is given for no-shows without notice, unless there are special circumstances that have been appropriately communicated.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
Oklahoma ABLE Tech is an approved provider of continuing education through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). To receive course credit for CEUs, ASHA members must meet the completion requirements of this course/training: complete a pre- and post-assessment, attend the course, and acknowledge that they were informed of this information prior to the training.
This course is eligible for 0.60 ASHA CEUs.
If you wish for Oklahoma ABLE Tech to submit this course to the ASHA CE Registry on your behalf, please complete the post-assessment form (available after the course) no later than 14 days after the course date. Forms received after the 14-day deadline will NOT be submitted to ASHA.

Empowering Voices: Effective AAC Evaluations
The Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) workshop on effective AAC evaluations is designed for speech therapists, educators, and other professionals who work with individuals of all ages with communication difficulties.
The course will provide an overview of AAC and its importance in supporting individuals with communication challenges. The course will cover the components of an AAC evaluation and report writing, including using the SETT framework and feature-matching activities. Participants will also have hands-on experience with speech communication assistive technology, allowing them to gain practical knowledge and experience in selecting and using AAC devices.
AT Webinars (Zoom)
AT Funding Workshop
Participants will learn about resources and grant-writing tips to secure funding for AT and AEM. Participants will practice matching students to funding options and practice grant writing. Guidance for planning and budgeting for AT/AEM will be shared, and sample AT plans will be provided.

AT Guidance for Administrators
Administrators will be introduced to essential requirements for all public schools related to the provision of assistive technology devices and services; the information will be presented with systems-level considerations and will highlight specific operational procedures and best practices to ensure effective implementation and legal compliance.

Learn about AT devices and services at your own pace. Access Oklahoma ABLE Tech’s online AT Curriculum for educators website to learn in place of, or in addition to, in-person workshops. Anyone can access this online training.
