The Education & Professional Development committee have prepared a synopsis of our textbooks, available here (Updated January 2025).

IRSE members benefit from reduced prices on all IRSE textbooks.
Post and packaging is not included in the prices listed below, this is added before you confirm and pay for your purchase.
For those not based in the UK, you may be liable for local (import) taxes. This is not included in the IRSE pricing.

IRSE latest text book - ETCS for Engineers 2nd edition

ETCS for Engineers 2nd edition, edited by Ian Mitchell HonFIRSE and developed by an IRSE working group is now for sale (May 2026)

The book explains the background and technical details of ETCS in an understandable way, going beyond easily accessible information.
