Vector artwork conversion is a process in white the raster images are converted into line art images through the use of vector lines, as opposed to pixels or dots that are used in raster images. Raster images on the other hand are images comprised of a bunch of pixels or small dots which make up the resolution of the image. These are used primarily for digital photo images, and come in file types such as: JPG; JPEG; PNG; GIF; and BMP. Vector images are typically lighter in size compared to bitmap images, and they can be scaled up or scaled down without affecting the quality of the image. Many print shops require vector files and vector images, as they are print friendly and can be adjusted when it comes to changing the color or moving components.
Embroidery digitizing format stitch files are basically designs converted into a computerized form that tells the embroidery machine how to move and stitch out the design on the machine. Our digitizers are highly skilled and experienced to provide the highest quality embroidery files. The digitizing process involves recreating the design in an embroidery digitizing program (Wilcom, Pulse, hatch embroidery, etc) in a way that will look good and also sew out well at the size and on the garment type you are sewing onto. The digitizer knows how to set it up with the proper patterns, stitch types, and setting such as pull comp and stitch density, so the design looks the best it can. This is why so many embroidery shops use our embroidery digitizing service as their primary source for digitizing conversions.
The garment you are stitching onto can also determine how an image is digitized. The biggest difference is when stitching onto structured caps versus flat material. Caps are typically sequenced to sew from the center out, as the structure causes issues if you simply sew from left to right. Shifting is also an issue, and even when hooped properly and using heavy backing the garment can move around depending on how the design is digitized. These are the types of things that can’t be taught directly, and can only be learned through experience. Auto digitizing processes will never be able to compare to professionally digitized files created by hand.
