Embroidery digitizing is a process in which artwork is transformed into a digital data format. It is the same method as when you create a CNC file. It turns the digitizing images into X’s and Y’s format, where the embroidery machines moves per the file instructions. The term digitizing refers to the computerized technique of turning an image into a code or computerized language. This is later transferred to the embroidery machine’s logic head for sewing. The first step of digitizing images is to modify or edit the digitized artwork in an embroidery program such as Wilcom or Pulse. The image design file would be opened in the digitizing program and used as a template reference to create the stitch file off of. The embroidery digitizer in charge would decide the stitch sequence order, from the first stitch to the last stitch. This is very important as it will affect how the embroidery design will sew out, and how long it will take for it to run on the embroidery machine.
