Never,
Arose happily,
Never a morning —
Person, rosy cheeked, thrilled; no —
Sunrise.
*****
Never,
Cared if birds trilled.
And sickness requires,
Longer mornings still; arising —
Half-dead.
*****
Used to,
Be a nighttime owl.
Evenings started 10:00 pm;
I grew older; for moments night —
Lived twice.
*****
Life still,
Ever changes.
Night’s denied, though preferred;
Illness refuses, those starry,
Evenings.
*****
So,
For now,
To bed early,
Though I long for lateness —
Though I long for normal nights;
Free, Full.
*****
Now,
I live mid-day;
Throw in odd evenings.
Yet, I reflect on glorious —
Hours clear.
*****
My mind,
Crystal; feet quick.
My body energized,
Moving, thinking swift — night’s delights —
They’ve gone.
*****
So, no —
Mornings that kill;
Mostly, early evenings.
Still, I long for sunset; ink–
Skies too.
