She said move on

Her tongue was silver

Silver as the sunset into stars of night

Silver as tears wept shimmering

Shimmering as stars gleaming

Shimmering as the sun rising like a fire-balloon

Fire-balloon reflected off cars flying past

Fire-balloon setting as birds flock in the skies

Skies of lightening in midnight mellow drama

Skies of thunder, calamity crashes

Crashes where all involved stare

Crashes because life’s never smooth, often absurd

Absurd as everything that frightens

Absurd as a world both a nightmare and a home

Homes fled to as we desire to relax in peace

Homes a safety net when we in horror free-fall

Fall in lush spring grass you’d lie still in

Fall into a pattern as life once loved and forgotten

Forgotten as memory, crystalline colors

Forgotten, rising against our tendencies

Tendencies intent without meaning or reason

Tendencies where we’re inclined to fall asleep

Asleep in silver mornings where children once laughed

Asleep in silver nights where wine glasses clinked

Clinked in sublime slante , Zinfandel swallowed

Clinked with chatter, excitement — no hurt

Hurt and violence behind dark doors hid

Hurt and misery, bones aching

Aching as the mystery of life, how fast life flows

Aching as the mystery of hope

Hope that we shouldn’t give up

Hope that we shouldn’t fall even with wounds

Wounds of our bodies and wounds of our souls

Wounds of dignity and wounds of our hearts

Hearts that as wine glasses can fracture

Hearts as wine glasses splintering

Splinters of glass with relaxation pass

Splinters where we stare in dismay

Dismay for lost happiness and dreams

Dismay for lost memories, more sorrow

Sorrow of dripping fresh tears

Sorrow soaking through to new perspective

Perspective that there’s still a glint of light

Perspective that there exists still joyful yesterdays

Yesterdays where the world’s sublime

Yesterdays where the world is in every sense real

Sublime as it is to ‘step and breathe’ as one saunters

Real as it feels to stroll and forget our heart’s woes

Happy August! Here’s some Wine and Words too soothe your soul and make you laugh. If you’re like me, most wine you’re having in summer is in your sangria, but a sweet bottle of Rose, Red, or hey, even Red, is wonderful chilled in the summer evening.

Hoping everyone’s been enjoying themselves if you’re off on summer vacation or break, and if you’re in the middle of another season, I hope you’re enjoying some cooler weather as in some places (Australia or Italy for example), summer can be miserably hot.

I’m off to my first Writer’s Conference in a week or so, and I’m excited to be among Writer-folk in person for a bit, and not only online. I enjoy both, but a change of scenery is nice, as is spending some time with a great friend, Psychologist, and Steeped Tea Sipologist. Also, back to house sit and chill with my puppy-friend Jenga, while her owners are away a few days before the conference!

Three Line Tales: Poem – Bop – “Golden Haze” #amwriting #poetry #3LineTales

Gold” by Imagine Dragons

Now you’re blessed, so confess all your lost dreams,

Diamonds, emeralds your curse, tearing your seams.

How do you know it’s all real, that you still feel?

How do you cry, when you’re numb and reeling?

Too much gleam of Ag, shallow and false,

You heart doesn’t thump; Midas stilled its pulse.

When everything you’ve got turns to cold gold.

Such appeal of golden apples faltered —

You can’t eat metal, push away your faults;

Hide your cursed shining touch, voices hush —

No more lies; who now can you even trust?

Everything you graze turns to gold, gold, gold.

You’re a statue bathed in it, no old —

Friends by your side; ruler of cold and stale.

No wine and meat, it’s as ash chewed, inhaled.

When everything you’ve got turns to cold gold.

Hollow, bathing in liquid gold streaming,

Trying to define it meaninglessness.

Your void in life, as you fade down the corn maze,

A woman hopeless, in a smokey haze.

Life’s no dream when your touch destroys all inane,

You’ll not escape — greed’s your ever-long shame.

When everything you’ve got turns to cold gold.

We Owned the Night” – Lady Antebellum

Craving skin sticking; recalling hurts,

Owning that night,

Lips dribbling sensuous enthralling words.

*****

You were my electric vision,

Owning that night,

Your purest beauty, stunned alive.

*****

Twirling, wine-wrecked your dress,

Owning that night,

Never forgetting tangled-sheet memories.

Falseness of sound,

Tears glisten as —

Mermaids parade into ocean’s curve.

Waves echoing, golden sand glints;

Resolve to know.

Deliberate without inhibition,

Sweep the sands, as tears forge waters;

A crimson sky blossoms,

The rose thorn drawing blood.

Recognize I not,

The void of your eyes glistening;

Hollowness resides.

Simmers through flesh;

Leaping through dawn,

As sailors are warned.

Salt water incites —

Saline tears, as the sea’s violent waves.

Tiny droplets recognize,

Pain doesn’t end.

Drops of wine,

Mineral lakes where all do float;

Nothing dissolves,

Fear of the giant montage.

A glistening gate —

A screenshot of life.

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer/ Open Link: Poem – Ottava Rima – “The Captain’s Tale” #poetry #flashfiction #dVerse

——–

Down rocky hills on the English shoreline,

Boat approaches with much mirth, captain’s yet drunk.

Went for night’s sail, didn’t return on time.

Calls to his mates, “Don’t want to end up sunk.”

Night full of cheer, where the faeries danced fine,

Captain bewitched drinking their wine, he fronts.

Close to the shore, doesn’t want to hit sand bars,

Then, he’ll visit bar, hair of dog, ale large.

——

A big glass, to tell his midnight tales had,

The lads laugh harder each time all the more.

Of preposterous adventures said glad,

Magic, faery dust, few know the old lores.

So captain begins anew, of past stands,

Against faeries who became his friends old.

Of the the faeries his grandmother knew,

How with them they’ve celebrated through.

Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer: Poem – Quadrille – “The Shire”  #amwriting #flashfiction #poetry

——–

 Up to The Shire,

Rounded doors.

Tall ones warned,

Lintel’s short.

Beams are low,

Pantry’s full;

Bread, jam, wine.

Safe from intruders.

Into our Shire home,

Scrolled furniture,

Comfortable repose.

Sweetest resting place;

Don’t force us,

Come out.

Adventure’s dangerous;

But my blood,

Pulsed madly,

So I went.

From The Shire,

Then life,

I lived well.

Table set, wild flowers leaning,

Feast begins uproariously

Wine overflows, company fully tipsy.

—–

Each person provided placecard, seating —

Sumptuous meal with —

Strangers, bellies full; dessert eaten slowly.

—-

No thoughts, host is devious;

Poison downed easily

Eternal slumber within each sip.
