Windows Software Probe 10.0

Windows Software Probe by N‑able Technologies is a Windows-based service that extends the N‑central remote monitoring and management platform into on-premises networks. Installed on a local Windows server or workstation, it performs automated network discovery and asset inventory, and supports agentless monitoring using SNMP, WMI, and common TCP/HTTP checks. The probe maintains a secure outbound connection to N‑central, enabling visibility and management of devices behind firewalls without opening inbound ports. It can deploy and update N‑able agents, schedule recurring discovery, and optionally cache patches, antivirus definitions, and software packages to reduce bandwidth usage. For devices that cannot run an agent, the probe collects availability and performance data and can act as a relay for select remote management functions, helping MSPs and IT teams manage multi-site environments efficiently.
