FOWC With Fandango — Marionette A Double Mirrored Etheree.

Welcome to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (U.S.).

Today’s word is “marionette.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

I have taken up the challenge today and written a dark hollween type poem for this prompt. Then I chose some music to go with it and they are rather dark. So here is a dark prompt!.

Marionette

Held
By strings
I dangle
My every move
By your desire
No free will for me now
Though I spin and pirouette
My spirit is no longer mine
I must dance to your will for all time
You’re my master, I your marionette
Cut
These strings
And I will
Fall . I sold my
Soul to the devil
You demon, you tricked me
Now , trapped I cannot escape
You do as you please with my life.
I have found a knife my solution
My life’s blood comforts me as I escape.

Thursday photo prompt: Darkness #writephoto

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a bank of dark clouds rolling in across a sunny moor, casting its shadow on the hills of the horizon.

This week’s prompt ~ Darkness

And so the darkness fell with a crash and a clatter waking up early evening, who was feeling rather drawn out. “Where the hell have you been it’s nine fifteen and I need some rest” Eve Nin complained. Darkness huffed and puffed and looked at his watch, ” I’m not late it mid July and I am bang on time.” He replied. “Well” Eve laughed, “your right about the bang, you made enough noise arriving to wake the dead! ” Darkness and Eve both jumped as a voice from below them screeched, “He bloody did and we are not impressed, we set our alarm for October 1st, and it’s nowhere near that yet.”

Night put his Horlicks down and inquired what all the unholy row was about! Eve said it was nothing to do with her , her shift was finished and she off for a drink with Dawn . Darkness stepped forward akwardly. “It’s my fault, I tripped on the horizon, Eve had a low hold of the sun and it blinded me temporarily. As I fell I cut my knee on the course grass, I have very tender skin you know. The noise I made woke the dead! ” Night took a sip of his Horlicks and said almost kindly, “Would you like a cup”

Darkness sank down next to night and said, ” Yes please” As Eve and Dawn downed their third Sambuca and relaxed, Night and the Darkness sat quietly with their hot drinks and waited for the dead to go back to sleep.

The Darkness Fell

The darkness edged in slowly, unsure quite where to put it’s feet safely without stepping in to something nasty. You know when they say night fell or darkness fell well that is just what the darkness was afraid of. Falling.

So gingerly, noisily darkness advanced from the horizon towards me.

As I watched, all was going well until the darkness stubbed it’s toe on the side of a hill. That was it, all hell let loose the darkness came crushing down cluttering and crashing around.

Shocked now I stood astounded unsure of what to do. Well how often do you get to see the darkness hopping around on one foot, foul mouthed and dribbling? No you are correct it is not a common sight.

The most astounding side effect of the darkness’s fall was the shower, almost waterfall of lights and stars.Beautiful beyond belief all showery and starry. Looking out on what was now night it was strangely beautiful with darkness scrabbling around on the ground trying to get to it’s feet trying ( without success to regain (1) it’s dignity and (2) it’s balance which it had lost.. not just misplaced but totally lost, not under the cushions or on top of the bookcase lost but proper painfully lost .

Behind the darkness came the twilight tired and thin and looking somehow exhausted. Being so much more delicate and having better sight the twilight could not understand how the darkness had fallen the way it had. Then as it had done, many many times before, taking a deep breath the long suffering twilight stooped down to scoop up the darkness.

The moon confused and annoyed was not sure if he was too late or too early… thrown by the lack of dark, the night was annoyed and out of sorts. With all this going on there was not much hope of sleep. So I got up and made myself a coffee and dived into my kindle.

Dark Thoughts

Dark  is  the  night , heavy  this pain  I bear

Empty  feelings , black  thoughts emotions  flair.

The  pain is  eating me  up pounding in  my  head

Evil, sugar sweet voices tell me I’d be better off dead!

I cannot  breath my chest is too  tight

The  horrors  crawl  towards  me  every night

They  engulf my  very essence strangle  my  soul

The  rip  me  open  and  devour  me  whole.

So dark  the  night  so  dark  my  soul in such plight

I need someone to find me  and  lead  me  to  the light.

One  more  cut, one  more  pill, I pray it will be my last

My ugly  face, my  ugly  body into the black pit  be cast.

Cut  my arms until  they bleed

Cover  them up  to hide  my  need.

Have  another  drink  and  take more  pills

Fall into  oblivion  to  escape  my  ills.

Evil Lurking

Evil

Lurking in the  shadows clawing  at  the  doors

Evil  knows  no  boundaries and it knows no laws.

It feeds on ignorance  and  delights in  all you  fear

It  will eat  you up  from the inside, scream  all you want, no one  will hear!

Bury your  head  in the  sand cover up  your ears

Evil will have  the last  laugh at all your  fears.

Run away  from the darkness, it  will do  you no good

Evil  will not be  out run, what  made  you think  you  could?

Watch  your  back  mind  your  step it lurks  round  ever  corner

It invades all parts  of  life every  brick  stone  and fauna.

Lurking in the  shadows clawing  at  the  doors

Evil  knows  no  boundaries and it knows no laws.

Evil lurks

Slowly,  silently an inch at a time

The darkness covers  me like slime

Hastily built walls afford no defense

Hope conspicuous by absence

Tendrils of dread grab

At your  sad soul

Swallows you whole

No hope

Slope

The Gate Keepers :Two

http://www.artsunlight.com/NN/N-M0003/N-M0003-161-two-women-at-the-beach.jp

Before dawn of the universe , before the dawn of time

The gatekeepers where guarding as their minds and hearts entwine.

The whispers were there though as the shadows  began to grow

The gentle  gatekeepers  had the sight of past and future , knowledge that grieved them so.

The darkness it was gathering long before even the light was born.

The two who knew this best could only sit and morn.

They saw the evils and ravishes  that would beset this world

Saw it all, they did,  even before all the dice and stars were hurled.
