Ping went my phone , it was the prompt from Linda for her SoCs this week. “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “tan/ten/tin/ton/tun.” Use one, use ’em all, use ’em any way you’d like. Bonus points if you manage to get four of them into your post. Have fun!“
“tan/ten/tin/ton/tun.

Most days the stench from the Tannery got inside your head destroying your olfactory senses. Bob was ten when they moved into a room in the house next door to the tanhouse. At first he thought it was a lucky escape from temperature swings and the blackness of the tin mine where he’d worked on with his Da since he was five. Facing death daily for a pittance. They struggled by until the expected big disaster happened. Small disasters were a daily occurrence… Injury, maiming even death. Finally it happened the corridor he and Da were working in collapsed.Tons of earth and rock fell upon them …he was the only one of twenty five men and boys saved…Da had felt the signs the tun, tun, tun sounds as the area vibrated, he had felt that before. He knew what to do and shoved Bob to the end of the tunnel and laid across him to protect him. Ma got Bob a job at the tannery …she had five girls all under six and Bob the oldest and only boy had to work. He missed the walk home from the mine …he missed the fresh air he missed Da. He carried a ton of care on his young shoulders. But he’ll just keep going he must.
Monday whilst popping into a Tesco Supermarket I got my foot caught in my shoulderbag’s strap…. Result, a very slow but not dignified exit from the car! Almost a face plant . I managed to lean to the side and saved myself with my wrist and bum…. result I am stiff and bruised but nothing broken, thank goodness. Lol 😆😆😆😆
The header to this blog is actually my cousin but we are only months apart in age and we grew up together so she is like an extra sister. Lindy Loo.
This weeks Tanka Tuesday is hosted by the delightful Yvette ! She says. “Next week is my sister’s 50th birthday. While we have definitely had some trying times, especially during our childhood years, she is my absolute best friend. We talk every day and make every effort to spend time together at least once a month.”
So this week Yvette want’s focus on sisterly love. She says she realized that not everyone is blessed in having an amazing sister like she does. So for those of you who do not, you can broaden your idea of sisterly love. It could mean sisterhood, friendship, or support of all women.
For this week, let’s focus on the idea of sisterly love or sisterhood. Find a syllabic poetry form that works for you, and let your inspiration flow. Need help finding a form? Click here.
I have two wonderful sisters who I love dearly and we are are in touch daily. But we had another sister who we lost eleven years ago . So I have written about her. The form I have chosen to write is an Etheree . I wrote it so your can either read it from top to bottom or bottom to top. I have written about Mary’s death before but I have rewritten the poem so it is now syllabic.
My beautiful sister Mary and I about thirty years ago.
My dear and beautiful second eldest sister died in October 2015 . She was a nursing sister all her working life and she touched so many lives. She died a horrible and painful death due to a drug resistant bug.
Last moments
Machines murmured and slowly stopped their pings Your soul, finally at peace, found wings. After months of pain you are gone. With your true love dancing free . God Bless you sister dear Is your heart soaring I miss you so, Rest in peace Sister Dear
Dear Sister Rest in peace I miss you so. Is your heart soaring? God bless you Sister dear. With your true love dancing free After months of pain you are gone. Your soul, finally at peace, found wings. Machines murmured and slowly stopped their pings.

I am going for immediate family, Sister, Brother, Mother, Father . I stopped there because I was having so much stress getting the post to work? Oh! Yes for an extra point Di please I have four songs from one Group…. …
QUEEN
“Sail Away Sweet Sister (To the Sister I Never Had)” is a song by Queen, released on their 1980 album The Game. Written and sung by Brian May, with Freddie Mercury singing the bridge, the track was recorded in 1979. It was never played live by Queen but was covered by Guns N’ Roses and performed by May in 1998.
Freddie Mercury sang lead vocals on Queen’s “Soul Brother,” which was released as the B-side to the “Under Pressure” single in 1981. Written by Mercury as a tribute to his bandmates, the song features all four members of Queen (Mercury, May, Taylor, Deacon) and was recorded during the Hot Space album sessions.
“Father to Son” was written by Brian May and features heavy metal sections as well as quiet piano parts, in which both May and Mercury played. Like “Procession”, “Father to Son” has parts with May on multi-tracked guitar played through the Deacy Amp. It is written from the father’s perspective when talking or thinking about his son. Queen immediately added “Father to Son” to their live setlists. In 1975, it was dropped from live shows, but revived a few times in 1976. The song covers a two-octave range: Mercury (G3-A4), Taylor (G4-A5).
“Mother Love” is a song by Queen, from the album Made in Heaven, released in 1995 after Freddie Mercury‘s death in 1991. It was written by Mercury and Brian May. Mercury recorded two out of three verses before becoming too sickly to continue recording, so May recorded the final verse himself later. “Mother Love” was the final song co-written by Mercury and May, and was also Mercury’s last vocal performance. Mercury’s vocals for “Mother Love” were recorded 13–16 May 1991. On his website, May discussed the writing process he and Mercury had (writing both separately and together, and conscious of the nature of the song and the lyrics). Upon reaching the final verse, Mercury told May that he had to go and “have a rest”, but that he would return later and finish it. Mercury never made it back to the studio due to his worsening condition, thus May sang the last verse on the track.
The song features a sample of the vocal improvisation from Queen’s famous 12 July 1986 concert at Wembley Stadium, and a sample from the intro of the studio version of “One Vision” and “Tie Your Mother Down“. It also features a sample from a cover of “Goin’ Back“, a song written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, for which Mercury had provided lead vocals in 1972. The cover was released as a B-side to “I Can Hear Music“, a Ronettes cover, by Larry Lurex (a pseudonym of Mercury’s), not long before the release of Queen’s debut album. The sound bursts between the sing along and the “Goin’ Back” sample are apparently a few milliseconds of every Queen track ever recorded, put together, and then rapidly sped through a tape machine.[citation needed] At the very end of the song, a baby is heard crying
I was delighted and honoured to receive this email today. I have been blogging for getting on for fifteen years now and to tell you the truth I am totally chuffed to receive this honour.

This week I am hosting Tanka Tuesday. The form of poetry I have picked is a form that I believe is new to us. A tricube, which is a 3-line, 3-stanza poem where each line contains exactly 3 syllables.
In my prompt post I wrote an example of Tricube titled Morning. It was inspired by the moments that start my day. Below is called my offering: Goodnight Alexa. Inspired by the minuites before I go to bed.
Welcome to Song Lyric Sunday this week or talented and knowledgeable host Jim Adams said:
“Last week we had April Music Birthdays where the theme was to find a song written or performed by someone who was born in the month of April. This week the theme is to find a song by an artist that you just discovered.“
I have recently discovered Afro Soul and I truly have fallen in love with it! This first song was written by Stromae . It’s a truly a heartbreaking song. Written by Paul Van Haver was born in Brussels and raised in the city’s Laken district, to a Tutsi father from Rwanda, Pierre Rutare, and a Flemish mother, Miranda Van Haver. He said in an interview that he also has distant Somali heritage from his father’s side. He and his siblings were raised by their mother, as their father, an architect, was killed during the 1994 Rwandan genocide while visiting his family.
On his absent father, he declared in 2019, “My father was never there for me. He left right away. He was a runner, a flirt. I learned much later that I had half-siblings. He was an architect who went back and forth between Belgium and Rwanda. I must have seen him twenty times in my life, and he died during the Rwandan genocide. But he had already disappeared for me, and when I learned of his death, I didn’t cry. Perhaps I hadn’t prepared myself. The fact remains that we won’t be able to make up for lost time with this dad we didn’t see when we were little.”.
Stromea once said not everyone knows how to be a father… everyone knows how to have babies.
Here is my favourite version: Papaoutai (Afro Soul)” is a song by mikeeysmind and Chill77, released through Swedish label Unjaps AB on December 20, 2025. It is an AI-generated cover of the original song. The track was uploaded to YouTube on January 9, 2026, after which it went viral.
Here is papaoutai with English Lyrics.
I love all the music that Afro Soul it is so uplifting! Here is Mama Africa.
here is the first video I happened upon that sent me searching.
Gloria, Earl and all the gang were having their final read of Goodnight Moon. Everyone was being very quiet. “What’s going on in here ?” Asked willow poking her head around the door.
Earl looked up and said “We are sad because Gloria is going home today 😔 and we will all miss her! ” Oh!” said willow “we can’t have that, I think you need to look at this another way ” Well everyone was shocked 😲…Jingles was the first to speak. ” Really willow what other way is there to look at this?” “Now let me see… I bet you are all thinking about how much you will be missing Gloria, right?” Everyone all knodded their heads. “Yes indeed said willow . Have you all wondered how the Aquaroomers are feeling without Gloria …..have any of you thought about how Gloria is feeling?” There was a hush and everyone looked very sheepish! …”I think” said willow we all need to be happy about all the lovely things we have done and all the tales we have told eachother. There are times in our lives when we have to be glad for others even if it makes us sad. Sadness doesn’t last forever. ” Everyone thought about this and agreed that willow was right! “Come on” said willow lets all have some cake. Then we can all wave Gloria off!
So they all had cake and talked about all the lovely times they shared.
So many things and so much more. Here are just a few of the memories.
So later that day after a lovely party 🎉🎉 Everyone went to Heathrow Airport to see Gloria off on her journey home to the Aquaroomers and Jennie in the United States of America. As they waved good bye and Bon Voyage they all had their own happy Memories of Gloria.
I won’t say there were no tears….even willow and hubby shed a tear. But everyone knew that this was the right thing, Gloria had to go home. Everyone was happy for Gloria. …..Gloria was so excited to be on her way home to see Jennie and the Aquaroomers! She was singing 💜.
God Bless Gloria , safe journey home. We love you.
Welcome to Tanka Tuesday, this week Robbie is your host for #TankaTuesday challenge. Robbie asks that “This week, we write poetry that includes onomatopoeia.
An Onomatopoeia is a type of word, or the process of creating a word, that phonetically imitates, resembles, or suggests a sound that it refers to. Some examples are crash, bang, squeal, etc.
This week, I’m asking you to write a syllabic poem in any of the forms listed on this site using at least one onomatopoeia.”
I have chosen to write a Sijo: Three Lines 14-16 syllables per line A total of 44-46 syllables for the entire poem.
My onamatapoeic words are. Pounding, Bomp,Thrum, Crackle and Sigh.
AWAKENING
Heart pounding bomp, bomp, blood pulsing thrum, thrum senses heightened Fingers touching, electric shocks fly crackle, crackle. The earth sighs gently, sharing it’s blessings. Roots touching, sap rising
Welcome to my “Heartland Echoes,” where I aim to share my poems with the world, along with my survival story and autobiography of childhood abuse, motivational quotes, and much more. Through my words, I hope to inspire others to share their own stories and experiences. Each poem is a piece of my heart and soul, along with a story of a traumatic past, crafted with inspiration, Hope, faith, love and passion. I believe that by sharing our art and emotions, I’ll be able to connect with others on a deeper level and create a sense of community.
