That same colleague reminded me today of this UB40 song from way back when I was still in highschool. I had the 7″ version back then, but I didn’t hear this one for a long time.

This morning [[UB40]]s song I Got Mine popped up in my head. It was a long time since I heard that one. When I started out making my own recordings with sound-on-sound, this was one of the first tracks I did, with recorders in stead of the horns section.

[[UB40]], back when they were still a real reggae band. Used to play this album a lot on my old Dual quadrophonic turntable.

[[UB40]] on the verge of becoming main stream commercial. I like the fact that Astro sings this; somehow that gives this a more authentic reggae feel.

In 1980, [[UB40]] still was a classic reggae band, singing protest songs and coming from unemployed situations. This was the first single I ever bought on my own. I loved it to death. Now is the first time in years I listen to it, but it moves me still.
