Beck had some really tasty producers and musicians in his Odelay / Midnight Vultures / Sea Change period. I like to refer to that as Baroque Beck. 😉

Back to the folk-y Beck in my Beck theme series.
Typical is the ending in total chaos, following a beautiful song. I don’t know why he does that… 😉
Below is Beck telling how he got to write the song.

On with Beck week, this song is off Midnite Vultures which was a big break from Beck’s normal anti-folk songs.
Instead he did a disco-inspired album…
I simply love these live versions as well… so much energy and sooooo tight!

I am discovering Beck’s album Mutations lately, and I wonder why I never listened to that one more. It’s like his album Sea Change, only less orchestrated than that one. Cold Brains is the opening track, a nice laid back folk-y song with some weird bysounds and noises thrown in. It’s on repeat in my head today.

One of Beck’s latest albums was Modern Guilt. Apparently I don’t follow modern music that much anymore, because I only became aware of it one year after it came out. I already posted Chemtrails off that album; this was the second song that made impact on me.
