465 – Beck / unknown – Loser (literal version)

443 – Beck – Where it’s at
September 4, 2015

Beck had some really tasty producers and musicians in his Odelay / Midnight Vultures / Sea Change period. I like to refer to that as Baroque Beck. 😉

406 – Beck – Beautiful Way
April 4, 2011

Last one for now in my Beck theme series.

405 – Beck – Canceled Check
April 2, 2011

Back to the folk-y Beck in my Beck theme series.
Typical is the ending in total chaos, following a beautiful song. I don’t know why he does that… 😉

Below is Beck telling how he got to write the song.

404 – Beck – Think I’m in Love
April 1, 2011

The next one on Beck week. Think I’m in Love has got an old Beatles-like vibe over it.

403 – Beck – Milk & Honey
April 1, 2011

On with Beck week, this song is off Midnite Vultures which was a big break from Beck’s normal anti-folk songs.
Instead he did a disco-inspired album…

I simply love these live versions as well… so much energy and sooooo tight!

402 – Beck – Nobody’s Fault But My Own
March 31, 2011

OK, let’s make this a Beck week!
Nobody’s Fault But My Own sounds very very sad, but is so beautiful and soothing…
This is playing on the radio in my head a lot of late.

401 – Beck – Rowboat
March 30, 2011

I am quite a big Beck fan, especially of his country-ish songs. Rowboat comes from his otherwise pretty awful album with the interesting title Stereopathetic Soulmanure. It’s got some nice pedal steel guitaring in it.
Johnny Cash apparently liked it so much, he covered it on one of his albums. And I now like it so much, I am going to learn it for my solo repertoire. 🙂

A few years later, I did. Here it is:

395 – Beck – Cold Brains
March 26, 2011

I am discovering Beck’s album Mutations lately, and I wonder why I never listened to that one more. It’s like his album Sea Change, only less orchestrated than that one. Cold Brains is the opening track, a nice laid back folk-y song with some weird bysounds and noises thrown in. It’s on repeat in my head today.

391 – Beck – Soul of a Man
March 23, 2011

One of Beck’s latest albums was Modern Guilt. Apparently I don’t follow modern music that much anymore, because I only became aware of it one year after it came out. I already posted Chemtrails off that album; this was the second song that made impact on me.
